Detroit, MI Indian Wedding by Killer Creations Photography and Films

Something electric happens when love, tradition, and personality collide—and Juby & Shameer's wedding was exactly that kind of magic. Picture an emerald-drenched sangeet, a cross-cultural church ceremony rich with symbolism, and a reception that felt like it was hosted somewhere between a Coldplay concert and a Bollywood film set. Yes, this one will live rent-free in our minds for a while.

Let’s rewind to the beginning: the sangeet at Rochester Hills Banquet Center was a statement, setting the tone for the entire celebration with vibrant energy and unforgettable vibes—thanks in large part to Sahil Mehta from Sugar Events Entertainment, who worked his magic as the DJ, keeping the crowd hyped, the dance floor packed, and flawlessly handling music, lighting, and event coordination to kick off the festivities in style.

The room came alive with golden backdrops and opulent textures courtesy of Elegante Productions, who, along with Events by Raj Singh,  masterfully handled all the florals and décor for the wedding ceremony and reception. For the sangeet and mehndi celebrations, Bridal Insignia took the creative lead, transforming the space into a velvet dreamscape with vibrant staging and decor that perfectly set the festive tone. Radhe Henna added her artistic touch, painting Juby's hands with intricate designs featuring meaningful personal details. All of it came together seamlessly under the expert planning and design vision of Events by Raj Singh, who ensured every event was culturally rich, visually spectacular, and flawlessly executed.

But the heart of the celebration was the ceremony at St. George Orthodox Church—a harmonious blend of two heritages. Juby glided down the aisle in a classic white gown from Jenna in White, her veil trailing behind her like a soft breeze. The air was filled with hymns sung in English, Urdu, Malayalam, and Syrian. Yes, you read that right—four languages, one love. In a touching nod to Juby's Malayali Christian roots, they incorporated sacred traditions like the Blessing of the Thali and the Manthrakodi ceremony.

The reception at The Henry Autograph Collection Hotel was straight out of a dream. It wouldn't have been possible without DJ Ice & Fresh Productions, the powerhouse team behind the music, lighting, and all-around party vibes. From the moment guests walked through the glowing light tunnel to the last beat of the night, they masterfully blended South Asian hits, American classics, and live dhol to keep the dance floor lit—literally and figuratively. Inspired by the Coldplay song "A Sky Full of Stars," the couple created an atmosphere that sparkled—literally. The night began with an entrance full of fireworks (because obviously) and a first dance set against a starry sky backdrop to "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz. Later, she stunned in a custom silver-blue gown by Natasha Dalal, while Shameer wore a midnight velvet sherwani.

None of this brilliance would have been captured without Killer Creations Photography and Cinematography, who didn't just shoot a wedding—they crafted a visual love story. From the emotional close-ups to the sweeping altar views, every frame reflected the day's heart, heritage, and joy. Explore our Platinum Guide to discover top-tier vendors who make these fairytales come true.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
During undergrad, Shameer and I actually met on a mission trip in Honduras with WSU Global Brigades. We quickly became really good friends, and when we got back, we hung out a lot, whether it was studying on campus or stumbling upon new restaurants/bars in Detroit. Later on, we both went to grad schools at the same university, and our relationship blossomed from there. We've honestly grown up together and seen each other throughout all the stages of our twenties with school, graduation, long-distance moves, career achievements, and hardships. I know this is cheesy, but I knew he was the one because I felt it in my bones. Our love was steel; no matter what life threw at us, I knew that with him by my side, we could accomplish anything.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
For the proposal, he planned a little scavenger hunt throughout Detroit at places that were meaningful to our relationship. One of our friends was waiting at every location with a clue and an old Polaroid of us. We went from the library where we first confessed our feelings, to our first holiday date spot, and finally to Parker's Alley, where we had left a lovelock at the gate years before. He proposed there with a heart-shaped arrangement surrounded by our closest friends. Later in the evening, we had dinner at the old Smith and Co restaurant, and afterwards, his sister and my best friend surprised me again with a decorated gazebo. He remembered that I had always loved the scene in "A Cinderella Story" with Hilary Duff dancing in the gazebo and replicated it with masquerade masks and flowers everywhere. The icing on the cake was when his brother-in-law played Kuch Kuch Hota Hai on his guitar while we slow danced as it began raining lightly. It truly felt epic.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
It was really important for us to tie in Pakistani, Punjabi, and Malayali traditions, so we hired Raj Singh from Events by Raj. He has done a lot of desi weddings in the Metro Detroit area from both of our cultures, so we knew he would be the best person for the job.
Starting off in the morning, I had my hair done by Lisa Malaj from Runway Salon who created a beautiful updo and adorned it with a silver crown. For makeup, I had it done by Linda Kanna who made my skin look flawless and absolutely gorgeous. We later took pictures at my house with family and bridesmaids in front of a stunning white backdrop with hanging chandeliers staged by Luxe Events Detroit.

Our church ceremony was at St. George Orthodox Church, which was absolutely stunning inside with murals and gold accents. We had a Christian ceremony with a mixture of English, Urdu, and  Malayalam. Some of the Malayali traditions we had included were the Blessing of the Thali and Manthrakodi.  For Christians in India, the thali has a minnu, which is a small gold leaf-shaped pendant with a cross made of small beads in the center. This is placed on a string made up of seven threads taken from the Manthrakodi (the bridal saree) gifted by the groom. The thali is tied around the neck of the bride during the ceremony to signify the lifelong, inseparable bond established in marriage. After, the groom places the manthrakodi (bridal saree) upon the bride's head to reflect the promise of the groom to honor, protect, and provide for his new bride for the rest of their lives. After the saree is placed on the bride's head, it also symbolizes the passing of the bride from the bride's sister to the groom's sister, who takes her place at the altar. We finished the church ceremony by lighting the unity candle to symbolize becoming one with Christ as our center. After the ceremony, we walked out of the church to bubbles and a traditional Kerala chenda melam played by Motown Melam. Once there, we were gifted our wedding flower varamala, which was created by Deets By J. Of course, we had to dance our way out! We also provided our guests with a snack box from Punjabi Indian Cuisine with samosas, Kathi roll, and sweets after the ceremony to tie them over till cocktail hour.

Next, we took our bridal party photos at the Detroit Institute of Arts and then headed to Wayne State's Main Campus to pay homage to where it all began.

Our reception took place at The Henry, Autograph Collection Hotel in Dearborn, MI. We worked really closely with Jennifer Silich, the hotel's main event manager. She made sure that everything was set up properly and helped us stick to the timeline to get all the events done, which was super important. During cocktail hour, we had guests enjoy different appetizers including vegetable samosas, coconut chicken, dumplings, and mini beef wellingtons. We also had a musician play Bollywood songs on the piano in the background, which was a great addition by our coordinator.

Our reception theme was "A Sky full of stars" by Coldplay. We wanted the reception to feel magical, so we had our guests enter into a light tunnel leading to the room, where they would see the crystals hanging from the ceiling and stars falling on the LED Screen on stage. We had a lot of candles throughout the room, hanging chandeliers decorated by Couture Events, and large white florals with blue accents for the centerpieces from Elegante Productions by Renee. By this stage, we had a breathtaking tier wedding cake by Angel Cakes that had flowers cascading down each tier and crystal accents. Inside was a triple berry cake, which was so decadent and heavenly. Also at each table setting, we had our wedding favors from Izzy Macarons. Each favor had two macarons- one was a custom Blueberry Cheesecake flavor, and the other was Brigadeiro to represent us and our personalities.

Dj Ice & Fresh Productions did an amazing job with lighting and music to set us up for an incredible night. When it came to the entrances, we had our groomsmen enter into "Welcome 2 Detroit," and I had my bridesmaids enter into "Pretty Girls Walk." Then, finally, we got to enter in as husband and wife with the song "A Sky Full of Stars." And to add to the hype,  we had fireworks go off as we danced alongside the bridal party towards the cake, which we then cut. Our first dance as a married couple was to " I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz. The LED screen showed stars falling in the background while our fireworks went off again. After the dance. I left to change into the bridal saree and had a surprise entrance back into the reception room with my cousins to "Sajna" by Badshah.

We had a traditional sweet milk ceremony where the mothers of the bride and groom presented the couple with sweet milk to bless the marriage, which was meant to sweeten married life. The mother of the bride gives the milk to the groom, and the mother of the groom gives the milk to the bride to symbolize welcoming their new child into their family. We also lit a cross diya along with our parents to symbolize
unity for us to create a family and bring light and prosperity.

After that, we had our dances with our parents. Shameer danced with his mom to "93 Million Miles," which was so sweet. Later, I danced with my dad to a Malayali song, "Aattuthotil," and we remixed it with "Muqabla" to end it with something fun. Muqabla was one of our favorite songs when I was a kid, so I knew we had to add it in.

Lastly, after the family speeches, we changed into our final outfits- Shameer wore a traditional Velvet Midnight Blue Sherwani, and I wore a custom silver/blue gown from Natasha Dalal to represent the theme. We made our last entry together, busting out bhangra moves to "GOAT" by Diljit, and had our Punjabi Dhol Player accompany us. Then, there were some Mollywood/ Bollywood dance performances and flash mobs by both our families and friends. Finally, the DJ gathered us all out on the dance floor for a group photo to start off the dancing, and we gave our guests customized "Juby & Shameer" LED glow sticks. Later on in the night, we surprised the room with CO2 guns blasting cool mist while we had the DJ play "Pepas" in the background. It was a lot of fun and one of my favorite moments that night.

While they weren't dancing, guests were able to enjoy our Photo Booth from QuikPix by Anthony Samona. We also had a stunning sweet treat dessert station from The Henry that featured petit fours, cheesecake, mousse, tarts, eclairs, dessert bars, turtle cups, cookies, and chocolate dipped strawberries. For a midnight snack, we had Chick-fil-A sandwiches and chips that everyone devoured.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
So I had three different outfits for my wedding day. For the church ceremony, I wore an American white wedding gown designed by Jenna in White that had a beautiful beaded corset bodice and layers of lace cascading down the train. It was the first dress I tried on, and I fell in love. I tried other gowns, but my mom and bestie kept saying to go back to the first one. I truly felt like a princess in it and could imagine myself walking to my husband. For my Manthrakodi saree, we got it from Kerala, and instead of red, we picked a saree that was our favorite color, Ocean blue, with silver thread accents. It was definitely hard to find it in Kerala, but after many WhatsApp calls, we found the perfect saree. My last outfit was from Natasha Dalal Label, and it was inspired by our theme "A Sky full of Stars," fading from light blue into midnight blue with crystal appliques and heavy silver beaded embroidery. I wanted to have a dress that allowed me to move and have fun while sparkling throughout the night.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
We really loved our experience at The Henry, especially during our tasting, where we got to sample the appetizers and entrees that we would later serve the guests. The chef, Pat, is absolutely amazing and so sweet. We really wanted to have everything we were served. The tasting was also when it hit us that the wedding was really coming to life because it was something tangible that we got to do beforehand.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
From what we have heard, they really loved the reception decor, including the hanging crystals above the dance floor and the florals throughout the room. My aunts really loved that we had desi snacks after the wedding ceremony as well. The DJ was a big hit, especially when we used CO2 guns and LED glow sticks to hype everyone up. In addition, the kids really loved the elephant ice sculptures by the entrance, which were the perfect modern touch to tie in our Indian/American heritage.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
At the end of the reception, it was just me and my husband in the room, so we asked the DJ to play "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, and we slow danced together, taking in the beauty of the room and that day for the last time.  It was the perfect way to end the night.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For the first choreographed dance at the reception, we had my cousins dancing to Malayali/Bollywood songs that ended in a Mallu flashmob with my family and church family to "Chunkzz" Wedding Song, where we got pulled in to join as well. It truly felt like we were in a Mollywood movie during the dance! When I was younger, I really struggled with being an American Mallu trying to fit in with everyone. Now, I'm so proud of my Malayali heritage. I was truly grateful for the dance and to have the support of my family and loved ones in the community.

The next group dance included our friends and Shameer's family members, who were listening to Bollywood/ Punjabi Bhangra songs. We tried to include all the hits in the past years with "What Jhumka" with all the girls, "Sauda Khara Khara," "Jhoome Jo Pathan" as a group, and of course " Sher Khul Gaye." Shameer then joined the group to his favorite Diljit song "Lover." After that, they pulled me into the group with "Chaleya" with everyone. When the chorus ended, it was just me and Shameer on the floor dancing to "Tum Kya Mile" ( our favorite Bollywood love song). But of course, the group wanted to cut the cheesiness and bust out the bhangra moves to "CASE" by Diljit. We ended with everyone dancing to "Calm Down" by Rema and free-styling.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Try to be present in every moment and have fun! The day goes by so quickly, and it will be all done before you know it. It is the day you have been planning for months, and it is a rare day when everyone who loves you is all in one place to support you and celebrate your love. There will definitely be things that won't go as planned, and that is okay. What matters most is that you get to marry your best friend, and no one can take that away from you.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Going into the wedding, we were worried at times that the differences in cultures would potentially become trickier as the wedding week approached. But in fact, everyone involved loved the variety in our dances, food, and music. If anything, our differences actually made our wedding more interesting and fun, not only to plan but to go through. I think most, if not all, of our guests walked away happier to see a union that was able to cross country lines because it showed how much we cared about one another deep down. In the end, love will always prevail. For anyone worried about Pakistanis and Indians coming together without any drama, just remember that your love is the beating heart of it all. When others see that, it becomes infectious and sets the tone for everyone.

I also forgot to mention the bridal henna. For the bridal Mehndi, we hired an amazing henna artist, Bhoomika from Radhe Henna, who was able to bring my vision to life, plus more. In the design, we wanted to keep the back of the hands traditional and have the palms and inner arms reveal a couple of our love stories. On the right hand, we had the Detroit Skyline and a little airplane in the sky for our love of travel. On the left, we had a little Anime girl and boy giving her the cutest " I Love You" forehead kiss. We also include little elephants within the design to represent our roots.

Stars really do align—especially when love, laughter, and a little bit of bhangra light up the sky.

Lexington, KY Fusion Wedding by Tate Media Productions

Let's be honest — when East meets West in a love story, it doesn't just result in sparks. It creates fireworks. And that's precisely what happened at Ellora & Alex's Indian wedding celebration. This stunning fusion affair perfectly blended deep-rooted traditions, modern flair, and much love. Set at the elegant Hilton Lexington/Downtown, the venue provided the perfect backdrop for their vibrant and heartfelt celebration. It was elegant. It was personal. It was vibrant. And most importantly, it was them.

From the moment Ellora stepped out in her dazzling red lehenga, heads turned, jaws dropped, and hearts collectively melted. Her radiant smile and regal poise made her look like she had walked out of a bridal fantasy. Meanwhile, Alex, dashing in his ivory sherwani and saffron stole, looked every bit the royal groom as his groomsmen made sure every detail was just right. (Seriously, can we get a round of applause for boutonnière placement under pressure?) The ceremony aisle was a scene from a Bollywood dream — Ellora made her grand entrance beneath a floral canopy held by loved ones, glowing with grace and strength. The moment she met Alex under a gold mandap crowned in crimson blooms by Nadia's Elegant Events, there wasn't a dry eye in the room (ours included).

And that mandap? Chef's kiss. A modern gold frame bathed in warm florals — it was giving "Pinterest goals" to meet timeless elegance. Ask Neha Now, the creative genius behind the planning and design, flawlessly curated every detail. They covered it, from logistics to "Did you remember the coconut?" moments. Truly, if weddings had fairy godmothers, this team would be leading the wand-waving squad.

Post-ceremony, the couple switched it up for the reception. Ellora was stunned in a blush-embroidered gown, while Alex donned a mint sherwani that made us rethink every pastel we'd ever doubted. Their first dance? A scene-stealer. Their cake? A gold-accented masterpiece courtesy of Tinker's Cake Shop (and yes, it tasted as good as it looked). The dance floor stayed lit thanks to DJ Desi Soundz, who spun everything from Bollywood bangers to Western crowd-pleasers. And for those not showing off their thumkas, Complete Wedding and Events entertained guests with a photo booth setup that captured all the goofy glam.

Tate Media Productions documented each unforgettable moment with warmth, vibrancy, and creativity. Their lens found all the laughter, happy tears, and yes — those quiet, in-between looks only true love can inspire. And For Keeps Films cinematically tied it all together with a wedding film that's a blockbuster hit in the making. Ellora & Alex’s wedding was more than just a celebration — it was a beautiful reminder that when hearts align, so do worlds. Want more wedding magic like this? Nashua, NH Fusion Wedding by Surya Garigipati Photography & Films LLC

You get this wedding when East meets West with a lot of flair. Karthi & Alex's stunning celebration was more than just a beautiful blend of cultures—it was a full-blown festival of joy, color, and love with the perfect dose of personality. From turmeric showers to heartfelt vows, this wedding had everything (including a shoe game that may have ended in a friendly debate... we'll get to that).

Let's start with the Haldi because of WOW. This sun-soaked ceremony was a yellow explosion of joy, petals, and pure, unfiltered happiness. Karthi & Alex were surrounded by loved ones, who showered them (literally) with yellow petals while they were dressed in vibrant coordinating outfits that screamed, "We're here to party!" The Haldi was the perfect prelude to the celebration ahead—playful, bold, and beautifully rooted in tradition.

Karthi's bridal looks were a whole moment. Her elegance was off the charts, whether she was draped in soft yellow with her glowing bridesmaids in pink saris or stunning in a rich red silk saree. Shades with Prithvi LLC brought the glam, giving Karthi the perfect dewy radiance and timeless hairdos that carried from ceremony to reception like magic. Held at the elegant Sheraton Nashua, the wedding balanced classic South Indian rituals and personalized fusion flair. Karthi & Alex sat beneath a delicately adorned mandap by Mandaps by Dhoom, with Vivek Flowers delivering a floral fantasy of soft pastels and traditional garlands that felt straight out of a storybook.

For the reception, the couple brought the sparkle. Karthi changed into a showstopping pastel green lehenga with silver embroidery, while Alex looked royally sharp in a matching sherwani and turban. Amplifire Entertainment kept the energy sky-high, spinning beats that got everyone from uncles to flower girls on the dance floor. If guests weren't already swooning over the decor, they were definitely doing it over the food. Bhog Caterers served up a spread that had everyone going back for seconds (and thirds). With rich South Indian flavors and North Indian classics, the menu was a culinary journey worth every bite. Yes, someone may have tried to smuggle out extra gulab jamun.

Every candid laugh, every emotional glance, and every twirl of that lehenga was captured by the lens of Surya Garigipati Photography & Films LLC—and let us tell you, their artistry is next level. From the playful, petal-filled Haldi moments to the quiet elegance of Karthi getting ready, Surya and team didn't just document a wedding—they told a love story. So yes, the photos are gorgeous—but more than that, they're full of feeling. And if you're someone who values storytelling through photography, Surya's work is the visual poetry you've been waiting for.

Riviera Maya, MX Fusion Wedding by Saptapadi Studio

Raina & Sebin's wedding was a masterclass in blending heritage with contemporary style. Set at the breathtaking El Dorado Royale, the venue provided the perfect canvas for their love story. Every detail was carefully curated from their jaw-dropping outfits to the dazzling decor. Raina stunned in a bridal ensemble that exuded grace and modern sophistication, while Sebin matched her energy with an equally regal look—because what's a king without his queen?

The couple's chemistry radiated in every frame, and we have to hand it to Saptapadi Weddings for capturing it all with cinematic brilliance. The artistry behind every shot made us feel like we were flipping through the pages of Vogue. Whether it was an intimate glance exchanged during the ceremony or the electrifying dance floor energy, their photography and cinematography team ensured every emotion was immortalized.

Sebin stands with anticipation, adjusting his embroidered sherwani, heart pounding. As Raina approaches, dressed in sheer perfection, he turns around—and boom, the world stops. A few happy tears (and a lot of "awws" from the bridesmaids) later, the couple shares a moment that reminds us why first looks are a must-have! When Desi DJ's Riviera Maya took over, the reception turned into the ultimate dance party! From classic Bollywood beats to chart-topping hits, the night was a blur of twirls, lifts, and some impressively choreographed performances. Oh, and let's talk about that Vogue-style photo booth—because if your wedding doesn't have a paparazzi moment, did it even happen?

From the lavish floral arrangements by Essenza Riviera to the flawless coordination by Beloved Planners, every vendor played a key role in making this wedding a masterpiece. And let's not forget Shaadi Destinations, who made the entire travel experience seamless for guests flying in from NY and FL!

Before the grand festivities began, Raina's mehndi ceremony was a vibrant prelude to the celebrations. With intricate henna designs by Loto Mehndi, her hands and arms were adorned with breathtaking patterns that told a story of love and new beginnings. Alex Corbanezi worked his magic with hair and makeup, ensuring Raina looked effortlessly radiant, while Jennifer Reyes brought stunning event design elements to life.

Riviera Maya, MX Fusion Wedding by Jhankarlo Photography

Amidst the stunning beauty of Riviera Maya, where crystal-clear waters meet soft, golden sands, Krina and Jon celebrated their love in a magical wedding. Hosted at the picturesque Generations Resorts and El Dorado Resorts, their Indian wedding seamlessly intertwined timeless traditions with contemporary elegance, crafting unforgettable moments that perfectly reflected their one-of-a-kind love story.

Krina, a spirited Gujarati woman, and Jon, a calm Taiwanese Michigander, met on a frosty January day at a medical school interview. Krina recalls spotting Jon sitting quietly and thinking she'd shine next to him (classic confidence!). Little did she know, this quiet man would one day promise her parents to keep her happy forever. Jon's sweet proposal at Torrey Pines, complete with her favorite snacks and a sweeping ocean view, sealed their forever—a love story as sweet as a charcuterie board. From a traditional Gujarati shrikhand to Indo-Chinese delicacies, the couple poured their love for food into a menu that delighted their guests. And the nerdy cocktails? Iconic! "Code Blue" and "Pink Eye" added a humorous nod to their medical professions—Krina, a cardiologist thriving in the ICU chaos, and Jon, an ophthalmologist enjoying clinic calm.

Jhankarlo Photography brought this wedding to life with a masterful eye for detail and storytelling. Every angle felt intentional, capturing the intricate embroidery of Krina's exquisite bridal lehenga and the vibrant energy of the baraat as it danced across the sandy shores. The photos reflect a cinematic charm, especially during the first look—where Krina, glowing under the Riviera sun, approaches Jon with a palpable emotional depth through the lens. From sweeping wide shots showcasing Etirios Floral Atelier's stunning decor to intimate close-ups that revealed the couple's raw emotions, every frame told a story of love, tradition, and joy in breathtaking style.

The planning and design for Krina & Jon's wedding were exceptional, thanks to the talented collaboration of Beloved Planners, Jennyfer Reyes Wedding, and Lilly Cruz Weddings. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Jonathan on a cold January day. I had driven from Boston to Michigan for a medical school interview. I saw a quiet man sitting alone and immediately thought to myself that I would definitely shine next to him. We ended up both getting accepted to the same medical school,l and the rest is history.

I was raised in a traditional Gujarati household and never thought I would fall in love with a Taiwanese Michigander. On the surface, there were significant cultural differences but when I got to know Jonathan more, I realized that an individual's cultural and religious background does not matter as much as their personality. The more I got to know Jonathan, the more I realized that we had a lot in common with similar upbringings. I knew Jonathan was the one when he flew to Boston to meet my parents and promised them that he would do anything to keep me happy for the rest of his life.

Jonathan knew I always loved a romantic picnic but we never had much time as we were in a long-distance relationship. One of of our trips to San Diego, Jonathan drove me to one of our favorite locations, Torrey Pines, for a picnic. He had all my favorite snacks, which basically make up a charcuterie board. In true Jonathan fashion, he asked me to pose for a picture facing the water and when I turned around, he was down on one knee!

I honestly cannot tell you what he said next because I immediately started crying. The next few moments were such a blur but the perfect start to our forever.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Food tasting has to be the best part of any planning process. We have always bonded on their love for food. We both love trying new cuisines and making Indian and Asian delicacies. The best part of wedding planning was creating a fusion menu that highlighted our favorite meals growing up. It was so fun to work with the chef and create fun dessert flavors and a cocktail menu. As two doctors in vastly different medical fields, we knew they HAD to have nerdy cocktail names. I am a cardiologist who thrives in the chaos of an ICU, whereas Jonathan is an ophthalmologist who enjoys the routine in his clinic. Their specialty drinks were called Code Blue and Pink Eye.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
One thing we have constantly heard from our guests was how special they felt. They received constant communication from our planners and did not have to worry about getting to and fro the wedding venues. They felt like the wedding was very intimate even though the guest size was ~140 guests.

Despite all the traditional aspects of the wedding, they felt very included and enjoyed being involved. They loved how much our families danced and wanted everyone to be on the dance floor at all times. Lastly, we have heard from sooo many people that the food was incredible. Everything from the traditional Gujarati srikhand to the indo-Chinese was top-notch and one of theri best wedding meals.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Growing up, every girl dreams of their wedding day. I was raised in Gujarat and had always thought I would get married in the traditional manner somewhere in India. Never in a million years did I think I would be having not one but two wedding ceremonies on a beach surrounded by our loved ones. I could not have imagined having a fusion wedding that equally celebrated and respected Krina and Jonathan's upbringing.

One of my favorite moments was walking down to the beach for our first look. Jonathan was waiting by the beach. I could hear him holding his breath as he heard me getting closer. Seeing each other that morning made it all real. Through the tears, we looked at each other and knew that we had made it.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Remember to eat. Indian weddings are long and stressful. I did not sleep until probably midnight after our Sangeet and had to be up at 3:30 for hair and makeup. I had no appetite and did not eat a big breakfast prior to getting into my wedding outfit. my lehnga weighed >40 lbs and I was minutes from passing out before my entrance towards the mandap. My advise-EAT and stay hydrated!

Despite all the planning, things will go wrong, and things will happen out of your control. Your loved ones will spend more time on ceremonies that may not be as important to you. Remember that this may be your wedding, but it also is a very important day for your parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and wedding party. Let them celebrate you!

Plan your hair and makeup trial on a humid/hot day and keep it on for the rest of the day. This way, you can prepare for the worst and see what adjustments need to be made. During my makeup trial, it incidentally happened to be a rainy day. I noticed that my undereye makeup got very cakey in the humidity. I spent the next few months finding a primer and setting powder that worked for my skin, and my makeup was truly flawless.

This Riviera Maya celebration was a true testament to love crossing all boundaries.
