Welcome back Maharanis! We pick up at Sonia and Ashish's chic reception, with all photography and videography beautifully captured by Hugo Juarez Photography. As the sun set on a gorgeous NYC day, the beautiful yacht from Yachts For All Seasons set sail on the Hudson River for cocktail hour, followed by the reception. All events were impeccably planned by Preeti Exclusive Event Planning with Gracious Decor providing the beautiful floral and decor. We can't get over how stylish and sophisticated this reception was - newlyweds Sonia and Ashish definitely have incredible taste! Maharani Sonia slipped into a hot pink lehenga to make her grand reception entrance with her dapper Raja, Ashish. The beautiful couple glowed the entire night, and we adored witnessing the couple and their guests dance all night long! In fact, even long after the yacht docked, the party was so incredible that guests continued rocking out to beats by DJ Gudah at the shore! Guests also raved about the decadent dessert bar by Stanton & Social and the drool-worthy dinner by Bukhara Grill. This wedding seems like such a glamorous, love-filled affair, and we're so happy we were able to witness it! To see more from this chic wedding, click below to view the full gallery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the One?"

It was a set-up through a mutual friend! Ashish stood by me and my family through thick and thin during my dad’s illness. I figured that if he could hang in there during such tough times, he’s a keeper!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

We were planning to visit the Hamptons, and Ashish had told my mom he was going to propose to me there and then take both sets of families out for a post proposal dinner. My mom told him that she would throw the celebratory dinner post proposal at home with some of my closest friends and his family. The reason for this was that my daddy wasn't feeling too well and going to dinner would be too much for him!

While we were out in the Hamptons something prompted him to not pop the question! I found out he instead called my mom and told her he was going to propose in the apartment in front of everyone - especially my dad! He decided this because he had gotten the feeling that I was missing him a lot. We came home after a beautiful, fun day with me having no clue that something was bound to happen.

I walked into my parents’ apartment and as soon as I unlocked the door, it was pitch black. I assumed no one was around, but as soon as we both walked in, the lights turned on and confetti fell on us. And then it clicked - he was going to propose. I saw my neatest of friends and my sister, and it all came together. I was completely shocked and surprised and happy. But more so, I couldn't believe that my dad got to see it all

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

The intimacy of sixty guests. My mother and sister did all the events that a typical Punjabi Wedding would have but just on a smaller scale because of the death in the family. And that way all my favorite people were included in the list!

What did your guests particularly love about your wedding?

The party on the yacht!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

Everything during those three days because my dad was there in my heart at every moment. And seeing his picture there made it slightly easier, even though it still was very tough!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

Fun fun fun. Typical Manhattan wedding. Rooftop mehendi with a DJ, belly dancer, and an open bar. The second wedding event was at one of Manhattan's most fun venues, Beauty and Essex. I reserved the VIP lounge which had a wonderful open bar and amazing food followed by dancing !

Anything else you want to tell us?

What made the wedding amazing in the worst of circumstances was that my friends were my family and stood as rocks for my mom and sister. Also special was that my my dad had always wanted my mom to wear a Satya Paul saree when a wedding in the family took place. So we made my mom buy a Satya Paul design because my dad would have wanted her to look glamorous! Even though it was very tough for my mom, she pulled through!

So special. We hope you loved reliving Sonia & Ashish's special day! We'll see you all tomorrow!
