From the bride, on how they met:

"Amit and I met through the infamous Shaadi.com. We emailed back and forth constantly for about 3 months and in that time I felt like I knew everything about him. When we finally met in person I knew he was exactly the guy I'd wish to marry one day..."

On the proposal:

"It was the weekend of Amit's cousins wedding reception in Chicago. Amit was flying in on a Thursday night and Payal was going to pick him up from the airport as she was already in Chicago doing her internal medicine rotation. Amit and Payal were both a part of the wedding party. The coordinator of the bridal party (bride's sister), had been messaging everyone througout the week about dance rehearsals and what not. On Wednesday, Payal got a text from her asking everyone to meet near Cloud Gate at Millenium Park at 10pm on Thursday, dressed up in formal clothes to take some pictures for the wedding reception. Payal thought nothing of it at first but then later wondered why they would be taking pictures in the dark and COLD weather. So Thursdayevening came around and Payal picked Amit up from the airport and they headed to Cloud Gate while it was freezing cold outside! Amit and Payal waited around for the "rest of the people" to arrive...45 minutes had gone by and Payal was getting anxious as to why everyone wasn't there yet, and mind you she was freezing her butt off! Amit kept telling her that he had just gotten a text from his cousin saying they're looking for parking and would be there soon. Amit was so nervous at that point and was trying to find the right moment to pop the question. It was dark outside and Payal kept looking around to see if she could recognize any faces of the bridal party and when she turned back, there was Amit on bended knee. He finally asked her to marry him and she said YES! It was a total surprise!"

On the wedding style:

"I've always been a big fan of MaharaniWeddings.com and I'd check the website everyday for new weddings which are posted. I admired every wedding and loved the color themes that the other couples used for their wedding. For some reason I would always catch myself liking anything and everything with purple, orange, and hot pink...so I decided to make that my palette of colors."

On the lenghas:

"I spent so many hours on Pinterest and MaharaniWeddings.com to see what style of lenghas I liked best. After going to India and shopping around in Ahmedabad, I came across a designer named Girish Shah and he was able to customize my outfit exactly how I wanted."

On a really special moment:

"The whole wedding weekend felt so surreal to me. It wasn't until I was walking down the aisle, that I realized I was actually getting married to the man of my dreams. Dreams do come true..."

On the hair & makeup:

"After many recommendations from friends and family, I had gotten a trial for hair and makeup by Lulu (Dolled Up by Lulu) for my engagement photo shoot and I loved it. She's very talented and knows how to dress up a South Asian bride so I let her "doll me up" the way she thought would look best on me. The results were perfect! For my pre-wedding events, I had my hair and make up done by Anita Bhakta from SF. Anita made me look more beautiful than ever."
