How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We first met each other while doing a tour for a high school in 8th grade! I became really good friends with his sister and Yash and I kept running into each other at cultural events and parties. Yash knew he had to make his move, and what better than to send me a Facebook friend request. Knowing I was a die-hard Twilight fan at that time, Yash had changed his profile picture to Edward Cullen, and then there was no way I could not befriend him! This began our journey to endless chats. He asked me to his girlfriend on the day we both got accepted to our high school program and the rest is history. We went to high school together, he was my prom date senior year, and then we went to undergraduate together. Through the many years we had our ups and downs, but I always knew it was him forever.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Yash decided to surprise me with a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Of course, I had my own doubts that there might be a "proposal" but Yash constantly said "I haven't bought the ring yet" so I believed him. The day of the proposal we were relaxing on the beach and see a beach dinner being set up. The entire time I kept saying "Wow that must be amazing to have dinner on the beach." Little did I know that I was watching our own dinner being set up.
Skip to getting ready for the night, as I was changing to put on the dress Yash had bought for me I noticed a ring on top of the dress and scream "OMG there's a ring." Yash comes running worried that I had found THE ring, however, ironically this dress came with attached accessories, one being a big plastic ring.
Surprise after surprise that night, we have our dream dinner on the beach (of course, I spend so much time talking that the sunset proposal becomes a night proposal), and as we are dancing on the beach Yash gets on one knee and says "Ever since 8th grade..."

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Many years ago, my dad had visited the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge and he always said after that he can see me getting married there. When we first went to tour the property, we immediately fell in love with the ambiance of the resort, the scenic views, and the numerous spaces to host events. When it came to picking vendors, I just wanted to work with nice, easy-going people, and people who took interest in our relationship. Our MUA, Anita Shah, is a really close family friend, and she’s been an aunt presence in my life since high school, so there was were no doubts in my head to work wit her. She took so much time to plan out our looks and do multiple make up and hair trials. Getting ready for each event was so comfortable with her, and she would bring her home made snacks and chai. When we spoke with Rima from Big Guava Events, we immediately felt a connection - she is so friendly and from month to month she stayed in touch with us and facilitated our wedding postponement during COVID. Similarly, our first conversation with Sunny from Photographick we spent so much time talking about how Yash and I met and what is quirky about our relationship, and I just knew he would be able to capture more than photos for our wedding. We had read so many good reviews about M4U and it was one of the best decisions ever to have them host our wedding.
My mom, sister, and I were so invested in wedding planning, and everyday someone would come up with new ideas to incorporate. They were my backbone through the entire process.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted to wear a traditional red bridal lengha but have a modern twist, with a Sabyasachi blouse cut. We went to India for wedding shopping, and the first time I tried on my lengha, my husband and parents knew this was it!
I had a color scheme in mind for the wedding ceremony, and I really wanted my parents, sister, and Yash to be dressed in all white to contrast my red lengha, and I’m so glad we went through with it because everyone was so coordinated and the photos were so beautiful.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was the numerous dance practices! We hired Himani Shah (a dance choreographer based in Ahmedabad, India. We did virtual dance tutorials with her and it was so much fun. The month leading up to the wedding, our house looked like a dance studio - there was someone practicing a dance in every corner of the house from the patio to the living room to the bedroom.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
One of the first things guests loved about our wedding was our wedding invitations. We worked with Pink Whistle Man (wedding invite company based in Mumbai, India) to create our dream invitations. She drew beautiful custom made designs for each event card. We also stamped each of our invitations with a personalized monograph wax seal with flowers. This was a really fun activity for us as a family!
Second, the guests LOVED the venue. It felt like a destination wedding but only driving distance away. Our guests got the chance to enjoy the resort and we were able to take advantage of so many unique features such as a bidai after the wedding on a boat.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
One really special moment from the wedding is my first look with my parents and sister. We planned it quite last minute and our amazing team of vendors was able to pull it off. It was right during sunrise and my parents were waiting by the pier when I walked in and surprised them. It was a very emotional and special moment for us to be with each other privately before the wedding ceremony began.
Another special moment from the wedding is our Vidaii in a boat after the wedding ceremony. This was Yash and I’s quick getaway and we really cherished the 30-40 minutes we had with each other after the wedding privately on a boat just taking everything in.
Lastly, during our Garba Sangeet, Yash surprised me with a performance with so many of our friends and family members. It was a performance I was not expecting at all, and the fact that he taught so many people the dance the days leading up the performance was amazing. He put in so much effort to incorporate our cousins and make everyone feel included in the wedding and that will forever be special to me.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
My family loves to dance, and we wanted to take the opportunity to dance with all our loved ones.
For decor, we wanted a minimalistic yet elegant style. It’s so easy to get carried away on budget with decor, but our decorator Saba was so considerate of all factors when making suggestions. She was able to give us different color themes for each event and still re-purpose decorations from each event. For our wedding, we wanted to go with a floral theme but chose to do top heavy decorations so that the view of the Chesapeake Bay is still maintained. For our reception, I wanted to go with a dark colors with black and white checkered dance floor contrasted with rose-garden themed backdrop.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Have fun with the process! Planning can get stressful and there are a million different ideas on social media every day, but that doesn’t mean you need to incorporate all of them. Figure out what is important for you and your partner and filter everything else out. Take the time to involve your family members as these will be memories you cherish for a lifetime! Keep a smile on your face and enjoy the moment. Regardless of how much you plan, things will go wrong and things may not go according to plan BUT it’s okay - celebrate the moment and it’ll all be okay. If you appear stressed and bothered about something going wrong then so will everyone else, but if you are happy then that’s all that will matter.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
For our wedding ceremony, a cute touch we added was placing small wedding bells for all the guests to take. We encouraged them to ring the bells for the groom’s and bride’s entrance as well as at the end of the wedding ceremony. The guests loved the addition, and it also created a beautiful and peaceful sound of bells during the ceremony.

Today's journey is over, but the love story is just beginning! Don't miss our coming events here!

Pompton Plains, NJ Indian Wedding by Memories Studio

Happy Friday! We're excited to share the charming and magical wedding of our lovely couple, Alekhya & Aakash. After a Sangeet and Garba at The Marigold, this couple chose the incredible The Legacy Castle as their ceremony and reception venue. Get comfortable and enjoy this wedding bash thoroughly orchestrated by Urvashi Mishra-Radz Events LLC. She combined style, creativity, and global trends to ensure that every aspect of this wedding was elegantly planned and executed. Wedding Design designed beautiful decors that mirrored the glamorous looks of our gorgeous Alekhya after being pampered by Payal MUA. This magnificent look would have been possible without the beautiful bright red saree draped and tied by Payal MUA. This winning combination created a dreamy look that we cannot stop seeing! And we cannot forget the splendid Mehndi design that Anuja Wala created. It was incredible! After the wedding ceremonies, there was time to celebrate the newlyweds with a vibrant reception party enlivened by MVP DJs, who owned the stage playing upbeat melodies that put everyone on their feet. If you're wondering who the mastermind behind the dancefloor wrap is, it is none other than M4U Events. This was a fully personalized dance floor with custom vinyl wrap service; Surely a service that exceeded all expectations! The only time the guests stopped dancing was to take a bite of the delicious plates that Moghul Caterers prepared for this reception! Without any doubt, this was a night to remember! Their wedding brochure was made by a dear friend's parent's paper shop, Needle In A Haystack in Dallas, and they couldn't have been happier with the result. They understood the look they were going for and matched the decor perfectly. The smiles, kisses, and good vibes were captured by Memories Studio, who witnessed the atmosphere during the celebration. Don't miss this gallery.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
It would be remiss of me not to mention our wedding planner, Urvashi, when talking about our wedding. I'm not sure how to explain it other than she knows how to get it done. From all the home events to the events at multiple venues, she executes perfectly, and our guests noticed. She was there from the beginning of wedding planning, providing contacts in India for outfit shopping, down to the last-minute details of how to take care of our guests at the baraat on a hot summer day. We couldn't have had a week-long celebration, and truly it felt like a celebration without her.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I've always envisioned myself in red for the big day, and I knew that I wanted to wear a saree, so this wasn't a tough decision. Although it took ALL day in the Hyderabad heat to find the one, I can't complain because the process couldn't have been easier.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
People still talk about the food at our wedding ceremony to this day. We asked for both Telugu traditional lunch items and Gujarati traditional lunch items, and Moghul Caterers hit the nail on the head with this one. From the yogurt rice to the Gujarati dal, I couldn't have been happier with the quality and the variety of dishes they provided.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

Palmer, Alaska Indian Wedding by Jake Elko

The filmy day of the week just arrived, bringing back great memories of a unique and incredible celebration such as Atisha & Mike's wedding. We think they are a match made in heaven! Our fabulous couple chose a unique place to host their wedding, Knik Glacier, Palmer, Alaska. This was a wedding like no other! Tiffee did our Maharani's makeup, looking natural yet glamorous, sophisticated yet adorable. She was breathtaking! Wild Hearts Events coordinated every detail of this fantastic wedding! This team let our couple know that the little things made Atisha & Mike's big day unique! Our couple called Honey Bloom Floral Design to create an enchanted and simple decor, and they exceeded their expectations! The best part of the event is a play button away from you as Jake Elko captured a series of exceptional moments worth watching over and over again, so don't wait any longer and get ready to enjoy this beautiful film. Sweeties, I'm sure it will make your heart smile!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Mike went to college with my brother and years later, was living with a close friend we had in common. We reconnected and the rest is history! I knew he was the one when the little things started to add up- things like teaching him to love Taco Bell as much as I do, doing new things together that one another enjoyed, and seeing how much of a caring and sincere person he is when it comes to others.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Our proposal story is one for the books! We have 3 of them, and you read that right, three! There were a few failed attempts, but it ended with a beautiful sunset on the beach of Honeymoon Island, Florida.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We eloped on a glacier in Alaska, so a lot of these details are irrelevant. We knew we wanted to elope somewhere that was not tropical (looking at you, DR brides). Our planning began during COVID, so Europe and Canada were out of the question. We decided on doing something in the mountains and found an “adventure planner” in Alaska. Alaska is always a bucket list place to visit, and we thought “why not?” We saw the idea for a glacier wedding and completely fell in love. We had so much fun planning this because we knew it was just for us, me and him, with no one else to please or worry about. We could spend extra time and money on little details by eloping. Our wedding planner with wild hearts events helped put together details like hair and makeup, florals, etc., and she did a fantastic job!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
This is a fun story. I told my parents 4 months before our wedding date that we decided on eloping in Alaska. They were shocked for sure, but the panic of finding a dress really set in. I planned to go to New Jersey to find my dress, but my frugal desi mother refused to let that happen, knowing how expensive lehengas can get here in the states. Luckily, my aunt was going to India the following month. I knew I wanted shades of blue to go with the colors of the glacier and surrounding landscape. After several 4 am FaceTime calls with her and searching Pinterest for inspiration, we finally landed on a shop that could do a custom design in my color choices. They hand-stitched the lehenga and shipped it to the states- I tried it on for the first time just 11 days before we left for Alaska. It was nerve-wracking, but I ended up absolutely loving my dress.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
All of it! Doing a private ceremony or elopement takes out all of the stress. My husband and I had so much fun planning out details and colors and imagining what it would be like out on the glacier. Our favorite part was designing the wedding suites- we had a full set of stationary and a wedding crest designed for us to frame and keep. We framed a set for all of our family members and gifted it to them.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
We didn’t have any guests, of course, but we sent out announcements after the fact with seeds for Alaska’s state flower (forget me not) and a box of our favorite Indian sweets. I think we would be guests who really enjoyed getting a piece of our celebration and still felt appreciated in our love story.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
We had a few moments alone as we got off of the helicopter and onto the glacier while our photographer was setting up. We stood there, shivering, holding hands, and looking out into the vastness of the glacier. It was breathtaking. We felt like we were on the moon, just the two of us. I think about this memory a lot.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We had a mehndi/send-off party the day before we left for Alaska. We wanted to keep it low-key, so we hosted it at our home surrounded by friends and family. We also had a very low-key Pitti and Ganesh puja at my parent's home in South Carolina. We kept it very small and made all of the decorations on our own. It was very special to do all of this in our homes with just close friends and family around.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Do what YOU want! Don’t be scared to go the non-traditional route. If you have doubts that you’ll regret forgoing the “big Indian wedding,” I promise you will get over that very quickly and will be so glad you did what you wanted to do at the end of the day.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
