Mahwah, NJ Indian Wedding by Lightyear Studio

Hi there, ladies! Come join us because we are heading to Bhavika & Jay's wedding ceremony. But don't stay behind because we are heading off with style through a Baraat procession that accompanied Jay in his way to the striking Sheraton Mahwah Hotel. This vibrant procession full of music, dances, colors, and merriment, was the perfect preamble to a solemn and traditional ceremony that united our two lovebirds in marriage. The execution of this event done by Euphoria Events LLC was impressive and very well complemented by the talented folks from  Wedding Design. They both took advantage of the natural environment to create a minimalist decor that revolves around the beautiful Mandap in soft pink and ruby colors. This fantastic execution and decor added an extra touch of style and romance to an already perfect setting! And without any question, this was a dreamy background for Bhavika & Jay to start their married life! We want to make a special shoutout to the talented team from Lightyear Studio for sharing the magnificent shots captured during this event. Through each of these shots, we get to enjoy the most memorable moments of the ceremony. And the photos are so artistic that you get to feel the same emotions that everyone was feeling at that time. If you want to delve into this life-changing event, head into our gallery for more! We have compiled a series of shots that you are going to love, so go check them out!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We actually met on a South Asian dating app called dil mil. It's funny that he knew he was going to marry me after our first date which I learned after the fact. I knew he was the one after a few months when we had watched an emotional Bollywood movie, Neerja. I had asked myself if I could ever imagine my life without him and the answer was no. That night I asked him to "define" whatever we had and I told him how I felt about him and said "I love you" first.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I was actually in Los Angeles for American Academy of Neurology conference for poster presentation. We both love to travel and he proposed the idea that he would come down and hang out with me for few days while I'm there attending the conference. He supposedly "planned" fancy dinner in Malibu and gets me all dressed. When he are driving down route one with this beautiful scenery, he tells me we are little early. It was sunset time, and gets me to go on the matador beach. I was little scared on the hill and was refusing to go down but he insisted and said "I would carry you down because it's beautiful there." As I'm walking down and come closer I hear my favorite song being played on the violin, "kabhi kabhi" and he started singing it. And the rest was history.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We pretty much did planning ourselves. We knew we didn't want everything to be super traditional. We had attending weddings at our venue before and I had visioned my wedding there from the beginning. We looked around other venues but something that made me feel part of the natural and beautiful outdoor scenery I could not find better than this venue. I actually booked my hair and makeup person about 2 months prior to the wedding. It was a struggle between keeping it good and cost-effective. And luckily I found the perfect people who did an amazing job. Decoration wise, we both knew we wanted a floral theme and had a particular color scheme in mind. But my biggest thing was wisteria for the mandap. And it turned out great. Ad to other details, it was more of my project as Jay was busy taking care of bigger projects. Ranging from finding last-minute cost-effective parasol umbrellas to fruit snack and program fans was something that took time but made it happen in last 2 and half weeks. Luckily it all worked out. And my husband wanted those ice pops after hot sweaty baraat so we made that happen.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I love red. But I wanted some non-traditional. I knew I was not going to do red. I went back to surat, Gujarat, India where I was born. The first day and first shop, the third dress I said this is it. It was one of their designer dress that I could actually wear in a routine as well. It was so elegant simple yet gave a glamorous look. When I put it on, we all knew that was the dress. I went in thinking I was going to wear pistachio color and ended wearing beige.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think the best part was choosing the details because that's where I could let my creativity and vision become alive.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Everyone loved every detailed about the wedding whether it's ranging from their welcome bags to welcomes to our epic nontraditional helicopter vidai. But the best part they loved was food, music, and our heartfelt welcome. We really could be more joyful if not for their presence and blessings.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
When I first walked down during our wedding ceremony and set down and that feeling of joy that I got expressed with overwhelming tears that I could not control is something I could never forget.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We had our Garba one week prior for which we had left the decoration last minute. We luckily found the decorators who made it happen in less than 2 weeks notice and the indo yet western-style we wanted. Ranging from swing to traditional umbrella to photo booth with a bicycle. My husband is a great dancer and for reception, we both had surprise dances planned for each other. Him and his groomsmen did an amazing dance. I had done solor and couple group dances but surprised him with my family flashmob which included my siblings, parents, uncles and aunts and cousins a s friends. For the reception, we wanted more nontraditional decoration style for the backdrop and with floral theme and it worked out great.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the process. It takes a long time to plan and coordinate everything but it is absolutely amazing in the end and it is worth every bit.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I absolutely love mt.mehndi. it told a story. I had NY/Brooklyn skyline on one hand and surat skyline on the other which said where both of us were from. I also had a logo of Dil mil app without an initial date. And not the other side I had stethoscope and calculator representing our careers. And on each palm had bride and groom. I also had our hashtag and wedding date. His name, which he still cant find. I absolutely loved our venue backdrop. It was an outdoor wedding with a mountain backdrop and it was amazing. I decided to keep simple but elegant jewelry and it was perfectly matching to the border of my dress and Jay's clothes. I did not want to do bouquet as I had made a wooden headpiece for my brothers to hold during my entrance that was decorated with flowers. Couldn't have been more thankful to my brother for staying up late 2 days before the wedding to make it possible.

Make sure to join us at our next stop; we will unveil the fantastic wedding celebration of this lovely pair!

Anaheim, CA Indian Wedding by Peter Nguyen Studio

We are back dolls! The wedding celebration of Chandni and Jay is underway! The highly-talented Peter Nguyen Photography shows us the romantic outdoor ceremony through the amazing captures that are about to fill your screen with dazzling ideas! The union was planned by the bride's father (yes! you read correctly!) her father, himself worked seamlessly as a true expert and ensured that the event came off as desired. The exclusive Sheraton Park Hotel at The Anaheim Resort was the venue of choice to hold the sacred union that was decked with a romantic style by the creatives from Kumba Events. A large aisle decorated with sweet floral pompons and petals that led to a dreamy pink floral mandap completed the wedding vision besides the striking outfits that our bride and groom picked for their big day. Raja Jay was absolutely dapper in off white and added some color to the trousseau with a deep red scarf. Saree draping specialist, Bridal By Nisha, draped and tied the red and gold lehenga set for our bride Chandni while the sought-after artist, Dolled up by Lulu, came up with an alluring makeup look to complete her wedding ceremony style! For more ceremony details, visit the full gallery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Chandni and Jay first met at one of their mutual friend's apartment in Irvine. Towards the end of the night Jay was looking for a new beer pong partner and Chandni had volunteered to join his team. After running the table for the rest of the night the two of them starting becoming good friends. After a few hangouts, the two realized that this friendship was turning into something more. A month after the couple had met, Chandni had graduated from college and moved back home to San Fernando Valley. The couple remained friends and kept in touch through texting and phone calls. Jay always tried to get Chandni to come to hang out with him (he is very persistent) after she moved back home but the timing never seemed to work and it was hard when Chandni lived in the boonies. After 6 months of being friends and staying in touch, Jay decided to ask Chandni out on their first official date, April 6th, 2013.
After their trip to Peru, is when Chandni knew Jay was "the one."

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
The day Jay finally popped the question. Jay planned this day out to every single detail. He planned and designed a scavenger hunt with the use of a scavenger app called Klikaklu. He led Chandni to believe that they were just going out on a late anniversary date that involved an app telling us where to go all day. Jay asked a bunch of ordinary questions as if he was filling out a survey of things the couple enjoyed to do, their shoe size, favorite color, etc. Little did she know that Jay was actually gathering all this information to plan out the whole proposal ;)

The date started off by opening the app on their phone that had a countdown of when they could start the scavenger hunt. The concept of the app was to guide you to different locations and to match the picture in which the app would give you to reveal the next clue. The first clue lead the couple to a shopping center where they had to match an image on one of the windows of the shopping strip. Once the couple matched the picture the app revealed that they had unlocked a free reservation for a cooking class (which Chandni and Jay attended on their first anniversary). After the class was complete the couple then opened the app again to receive clue #2. This clue took them to the Oaks mall, where both Jay and Chandni had to find and match a specific directory location. Once the couple matched the picture, the app asked for them to look under the directory for an envelope. The couple opened the envelope and inside was a free coupon for Chandni to get a touch up at Sephora and a drink coupon for Jay to indulge at the local Lazy Dog restaurant. Clue #3 was a QR code printed on the bottom of the coupon code that they had to unlock which asked the couples to go to the fitting rooms at the Nordstroms located in the mall. Jay with the help of Chandni's closest friends purchased an entire outfit for the proposal and that outfit was waiting for her inside the dressing room. Once they changed into their new attire the couple then opened the last and final clue. Clue #4 the last stop on the list was Westlake Village. The clue told Chandni and Jay to follow the red balloons to their final destination where Chandni would have to type in a 8-digit code. At the final balloon, there was a table with flowers scattered all over and an iPad. Once Chandni inputted the code to unlock the iPad, a video montage started playing that Jay had created (similar to how he asked Chandni to be his girlfriend 4 years back). Once the video ended, Jay took Chandni's hand and started to express his love for her. Chandni, overwhelmed with joy, did not really remember what Jay had said because she was already in tears but recalls just saying "YES". After the proposal all of  Jay and Chandni's close family and friends came out to celebrate with the couple.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I had my dad, Raj Patel, be my wedding planner. He organized and planned the entire wedding. I would research online and send my dad excel sheets of vendors, ideas, and pictures and he would contact multiple people and just make sure each one was executed successfully.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew that I wanted a velvet outfit but the color was undecided. I went to India, and my first day of shopping I did not want to buy anything. I wanted to try on different styles and different colors to get an idea of the perfect outfit that I wanted. I did my research before going to India and had a style in mind. After trying on different styles and colors, I ended up creating a custom wedding lengha. I decided to go with a traditional red with a pastel pink dupatta.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Getting to pick out every little detail of the decor. This was one aspect of the wedding that I got to have full control over and discuss with our vendor (Kumba Events).

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The ENTERTAINMENT! There were a lot of performances and a lot of music and dancing.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The entire wedding was like a dream come true. My dad (who was my wedding planner) did an amazing job to make sure that the entire weekend went smoothly. I wish I could replay the entire weekend over and over.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
I wanted to do something different for my henna night, so I had a Mediterranean themed henna party. We had Mediterranean food and decor! Additionally, for my garba night, I wanted it to look and feel like a village in India. We had food stalls ( just like the food stalls on the streets of India), decor (decorative umbrellas, matkas, bike riksha, swing, etc.) and the traditional Gujarati street food. I surprised the groom at the garba with a fusion dance and the groom surprised me at the reception with a cute "Chandni" dance (since my name is Chandni) and a bhangra dance. We had families and friends all perform both nights, which was exciting for all of the guests.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy every minute of all of the events. Do not get stressed out if you see something missing or if plans change, because there is nothing you can do about it at that moment. This is your wedding day and you will cherish these moments forever.

Check back with me soon to watch together the blissful bash, Maharanis!

Bellevue, WA Indian Wedding by Alante Photography

I’m super happy to share the wonderful image-timeline of Deepti and Arnav's wedding festivities held in Bellevue just right across the Lake Washington! The first festive sounds started at the bride’s home where she had her hands and feet festooned by the henna pro artist Magical Mehendi. The afternoon sunlight completed our bride's glow in an emerald green attire and also illuminate her bridal mehndi design. The cozy venue was decorated with lovely marigold flowers and the bride had the chance to mingle with all her female besties before all the turmoil of the wedding day! After having her traditional mehndi party, Maharani Deepti joined her fiancée Arnav at the Mercer Island Community Center to admire the splendid choreographies that relatives and friends dedicated to them. The dancers swang in front of a pink draped and floral backdrop, specially created for the evening by the décor artist of Prop Gallery Events! The cheerful pink color scheme worked perfectly for such a joyful occasion! The soon to be husband and wife surely had a blast before exchanging vows! Check our full gallery for more pre-wedding moments by Alante Photography!
