After the lovely ceremony came to an end, it was time to move to the reception hall of The Dearborn Inn for the grand party! Our friends from Naveen Productions - DJ, Lighting, Entertainment and Photo Booth were at all times bringing their talent and assisted with the Baraat, lighting decor, and of course, the playlists that had everyone dancing the night away! Such a team! And just wait until you take a look at Maharani Swati's reception fashion choices. We are so loving that mix between contemporary style and classic Hindu design! So stunning! Lucky for us, our friends from Rangoli Wedding Events were there to capture everything that happened for their day of magic so be sure, we have all of it here! You definitely can't miss this love-fueled gallery coming from Michigan! See you there!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
The proposal took place during a group trip to Traverse City, MI, with a few of my closest college friends, along with Amit, his brother Anuj, and of course Remy, my puppy. It was October of 2018 and we all decided to rent out a house in Traverse City and spend a 3-day weekend there to see the fall colors. Amit and I took a trip there alone the previous year. We had such a great time so we decided to go up there again, this time with good company.

During the 2nd day of the trip (October 13th, 2018), we spent the entirety of it in downtown. Amit and I both wanted to take our friends to the pier because it was one of our favorite spots from our prior trip. We decided to wait until the evening for that since it was a perfect spot to catch the sunset. After going from shop to shop, the evening finally came. We all started walking towards the pier. Once we got there, one of my friends had mentioned to step up onto the rocks and take a group picture with the water in the background. After the photo, the rest of our group got down from the rocks, but Amit and held my hand and turned me towards him. Next thing I know he is down on one knee with a ring box in one hand, and my puppy laying down next to him with his other hand. I instantly became overwhelmed with emotion and excitement. Amit told me that I was the love of his life and asked me to be his wife and of course Remy's human father. Of course, I said YES! as I was super ecstatic. Our friends started cheering and so did a bunch of other people around the pier. I was overjoyed as we continued our walk along the pier and could not take my eye off of my engagement ring. We finished the evening by going out to dinner and celebrating at a local brewery.

Amit definitely had a different agenda for that trip. I thought it was just going to be a nice weekend trip with friends but I was pleasantly surprised. I had no idea Amit had the ring in his possession during the trip. He had asked my parents for their blessings prior to that weekend. His brother, Anuj, also knew about the proposal and was able to capture the most perfect and special moment with his camera.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My family and Amit's went to India for wedding shopping. Before leaving I spent some time on Pinterest to look at bridal lehengas and a design I might like. I knew I would be wearing green, as this is the color for south Indians weddings in Karnataka. I definitely wanted a deep green/emerald in color for the actual wedding outfit, but for the reception outfit, I wanted a fusion of American and Indian. So the search began on Pinterest until I found the perfect one! This beautiful all cream lehenga with lace. I scoured several bridal stores in India and was not able to find anything like it so I printed a picture and took it to a bridal boutique and asked them to make it (anything is possible in India  Regarding the green wedding lehenga, I found the most beautiful design in red at a store called Mangaldeep. This was the very first store we went to and I fell in love. We decided to search around some more but ended up coming back to that gorgeous gown which they were able to customize for me in a deep and rich green.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
All of our guests had a wonderful time! Between the Mehendi, Sangeet, Wedding, and Reception each day was filled with fun, laughter, and lots of happy memories. All of the guests loved the feasts provided at each event and how the wedding was beautifully intertwined with both Gujurati and South Indian traditions and culture. Everyone was amazed at all the bright colors and so much dancing. The reception was a blast! Naveen our DJ did an amazing job with the music and lights. The fusion of American and Indian songs was a huge hit and the dance floor was full the entire night.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Best word of advice I received was to really try and capture the whirlwind of events during the most special weekend of your life. It is a truly incredible and surreal weekend knowing that family and friends from near and far came to celebrate you and your husband-to-be and that the entire day(s) are all about you and your love for each other. Be in the moment throughout it all and a great way to do so is to hire a trustworthy and reliable wedding planner. We used Nita Sheth (Iris Bloom) and she was absolutely phenomenal. Every step of wedding planning was smoother. The day of the wedding/reception Amit and I did not worry about a single thing. We were so in the moment and everything ran without a hitch. Another word of advice, the details really don't matter. I found that out the hard way. At the end of the day, the guests are not going to be paying attention to every type of flower, table arrangement, or color/design of the charger plates. The overall
