Atisha and Mahesh’s wedding festivities were about to reach its final event and they saved the best for last for this exciting night! With an elegant palette of alluring gold, glamorous black and elegant white, the reception décor was another artistic triumph of Mahesh and Le Reve Creations! DynastyAV also added a creative spark to the night with a set of splendid lights and all the best music that made the newly wedded couple danced the night away! Midway through the celebrations, Lou Stevens Glam Squad created a sophisticated hair and makeup look for our Maharani to match her dreamy white lace dress while Mahesh surprised his new Mrs. with a perfectly fitted black tuxedo and kept on surprising with a speed painting! Red Salt Chophouse & Sushi pleased the guests with a tasty sushi station and Mr. Paanwala offered scrumptious variety of Paanwalas! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met unexpectedly in Boston through his fraternity (Beta Chi Theta) and my sorority (Delta Phi Omega) in 2012. We parted ways and thought we would never see each other again. In 2014 we reconnected and have been inseparable since! I knew Mahesh was "the one" very quickly into our relationship. We connected instantly and every time I talked to him, I felt right at home.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Mahesh proposed on September 17, 2016. My friend came into town on what I thought was work, and both her and my best friend were in on the whole thing! They decided to casually go to Georgetown for dinner and drinks. We decided to meet at the waterfront by the restaurants. When we arrived to Georgetown we ended up being on the waterfront park side, and I kept explaining to them that we were on the wrong side. They played it off by saying they just wanted to take pictures. Next thing I know they're off and I'm left alone sitting on a rock. Before I knew it, I see Mahesh's best friend coming up towards me and I instantly teared up knowing that Mahesh was here. His best friend handed me a box personally made by Mahesh. I had to solve the clues and questions to get to the next step. The last step was an empty ring box and when I looked up, Mahesh was walking towards me. After the proposal, he surprised me with a party in DC with our closest friends!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning our wedding was a bit chaotic because Mahesh was in New York busy with grad school and I was in Virginia. Thankfully we had a long engagement and we were able to take our time planning. We started by booking our big vendors and then worked on the small details. Working on the decor with Roshni at Le Reve Creations was a huge help. She really helped us bring together our vision for each event. I also decided we needed a little more help with execution, so we hired Sonaa Wedding & Events for day of coordination. Planning a wedding is obviously stressful, but overall we had so much fun and created great memories with our family and friends.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
After spending way too much time on Pinterest, I finally started to see a pattern. I knew I wanted a traditional red lengha. With the help of my parents, I went to India and was able to shop all over Gujarat. Initially, I had a brighter, more traditional red in mind, but when I tried on the color I wasn't pleased with it and ended up picking a slightly darker red. You never really know how something looks until you try it on!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
One of the most enjoyable parts of the planning process was having the opportunity to be creative with Mahesh. We really wanted to add personal touches that shared what was important to us and how our story brought us together. Another enjoyable part was moving back home and spending time with my parents and friends in my hometown. Those are memories I will always cherish.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I hope they enjoyed our wedding overall! We heard from a lot of our guests that they enjoyed the live musician we hired and our personal touches.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Mahesh surprised me at the reception by doing a speed painting! When we were dating I remember talking about a video of him speed painting at a college event and how impressed I was with it. When were engaged I brought it up again and asked him to do one for me one day. To my complete surprise, Mahesh shocked not only me but all our guests with a speed painting of a picture of us.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Stay organized and make lists and deadlines for yourself. Decide what's important for you and your partner. During your wedding week take it easy, enjoy the time with family and friends, and cherish the memories!
