Today’s love tale is truly as old as time. Given that Maharani Shivani and Pavan dated for over a decade, it would be safe to assume that these two love birds would soon be tying the knot. Although the couple had already designed a wedding ring together, Pavan still  managed to make his proposal a surprise. The surprise transpired at the View of the World Terrace Club in Manhattan and it was on the rooftop that the groom popped the big question. The days quickly turned into nights as the couple began their wedding planning process and before they knew it, the big day was here! Shivani knew that in order to look her best, she would have to bring in some serious glam squad. Mercedes Cresimbeni of MC Artistry was tasked of crafting a red carpet look inhouse and the bride glimmered with dewy cheeks, kajaal rimmed eyes and bold, red lips. Her bridal appearance was a direct contrast to her elegant bridal lengha hand plucked from Nazranaa. Shivani’s breathtaking, traditional henna by Bridal Henna Artist was also the perfect compliment to this Indian princess inspired bridal look. Maharaja Pavan, perched on a horse from Equishare Baraat Horses, led his baraat to The Doubletree Somerset, which was transformed into Bollywood royalty by MM Celebrations. There are a lot more photos to enjoy in the gallery shot by Pandya Photography with live action captured by the one and only Joseph Minasi Weddings. (P.S. - check out our Q&A with bride down below!)

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I actually dated my husband for 10 years before we got married! We met at a cultural camp (Vraj Youth Camp) when we were just kids - around 14-15 years old and have been dating since 2006! We ended up going to undergrad together at Stony Brook University and then later went to dental school at NYU Dental together. Throughout it all, I've always known that he was the one because we've experienced everything together - all the up's and downs and our relationship just gets stronger. He's definitely my best friend!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Pavan and I actually designed my ring together so I never thought that I would be surprised when he proposed. I was definitely wrong! He kept taking me out on dates every weekend for awhile and he kept tricking me and really making it feel like he was going to pop the question every time. One day he planned a really romantic picnic in Central Park and I was so sure that it was going to happen then and when it didn't, I was so confused! That night we had plans to meet some family at a rooftop bar (View of the World Terrace Club) in Manhattan for drinks - or so I thought. Since these plans had been made weeks in advance, I never thought twice about it. When we reached, we were led to the back of the rooftop. When I walked out, the first thing that I noticed was that there was no one else there! There was a table set in the middle with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries and the sun was setting - it was perfect. When I turned around to look at him, he was down on one knee - I was completely surprised and I loved it! He planned the most beautiful proposal I could've ever imagined.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Since I wanted to keep my bridal lengha a more traditional red, I wanted to do something completely different for my reception outfit. That is why I loved that I was able to custom design a dress at Nazranaa. I choose a blush color because I wanted a more romantic look. Instead of a traditional lengha, I went with a more modern gown with a full embezzled skirt and a deep V back. I loved the way it came out!

What did your guest particularly love about your Wedding?

One of the things that was a huge hit at our wedding was a Belgian Waffle cart from Waffle de Lys. This was actually my husband's idea because he has a HUGE sweet tooth! All of our guests absolutely loved it because the waffles were made fresh with so many toppings to choose from.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

One of my favorite moments from my wedding was when my husband completely surprised me with a choreographed dance along with the bridesmaids and groomsmen!

Make sure you return for the reception with DJ Raj Entertainment and Event Lighting at the turntables. See you in a bit!
