Maharani Kayla, on her wedding style:

"I've been to many Indian weddings and always pictured how my dream wedding would be. One thing I knew for sure was that I wanted simple elegance. My wedding consisted of 6 events over a 3 day span; the Pithi, Mehendi, Grah Shanti, Garba, Wedding and Reception. I pictured the decor for my wedding events as containing specific but limited colors versus a vast array of colors. I knew I wanted red and champagne decor for the wedding and a candlescape background with all white flowers the reception and of course the central color scheme for all events were coordinated with our attire. I actually was very specific that I had made a document outlining the events with the specific color scheme, description of how the decor was to be, photo references, etc. Some ideas I had already envisioned and Pinterest really helped out with the rest. My decorator Shushil Patel of Utopian Events will tell you I was very specific when it came to decor and color and he did a phenomenal job with making my visions reality! He was great to work with and listened to all of my ideas and helped tremendously! He truly made our wedding memorable!"

On shopping for her wedding lenghas:

"Like many Indian brides I went to India to shop for my wedding attire. We searched tirelessly looking for the perfect wedding lengha. I didn't have a vision but I knew it was something I would just see and knew that was the one. Most were embellished with diamonds and really stood out whereas I searched for a simple but elegant gown that didn't look over the top as I feel that it took away from the elegance of it. After weeks of searching I found my dream wedding lengha at Kalki Fashion in Mumbai. It was perfect. It was red and gold, the material was raw silk and the best part, it had no diamond embellishment! I knew it was the perfect one for me as soon as he laid it out in front of me and I can not have imagined myself in another lengha for my wedding."

On her most magical wedding moment:

"I'd have to say that the most magical moment for me was walking down the aisle and seeing Sameer waiting for me on stage. It almost seemed so unreal. After all the planning and chaos, everything kind of stood still in that moment as a feeling of happiness overcame me. I was finally walking down the aisle to my husband to be and our future as it awaited us."

I'll be back in a bit with an exclusive look into the newlyweds' reception, so don't miss out!
