From the bride, on how they met:

"We met in college but didn't start dating until five years after we both graduated from college. We had many run-ins throughout the years but when we ran into each other five years later we hit it off and soon realized we both always had a thing for each other and just never acted on it. Soon after we started dating, we told both our families and it turns out our families knew each other quite well. My grandma and his mom were great friends back in the day. The whole wedding was like a big reunion for many friends."

On the proposal:

"We had been dating for about one and a half years. His family had already come over to our house for a family dinner. We had never come to their house for a formal dinner so we planned to have dinner in April. We had been planning for about a month since every had such busy schedules we had to plan so far in advance to make sure everyone was able to make it. We came over to his home for dinner and after a few drinks and appetizers he comes down the stairs and gets down on one knee in front of my parents/siblings and his parents. My parents had no idea of his plan until they got to his house about thirty minutes beforehand my sisters told my parents. Both parents had never really seen a proposal go down so its was really special to have him propose in front of our parents and to see that moment. I was happy to share it with our immediate families since our families are such a huge part of our lives."

On hair and makeup:

"I worked with Sara Shakir and she was really helpful and great to helping me choose a look for my reception and ceremony."

On the mehndi:

"Henna Harmony - Deepti was really great about listening to the details of what design I wanted. She was very nice and great to work with!"

On the lengha:

"I really only had one detail I wanted and it was for the ceremony lengha to have a train. I went to Frontier and Billa SIlk and Design in India and was very satisfied with their help throughout the process."

On the wedding planner:

"Sumeet from Dream Shaadi - our wedding planner ensured everything went off without a hitch and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of at all our events."

On planning:

"Our wedding was the first one on both sides and even though it was stressful, it was really nice to pretty much plan the whole wedding alone with my husband. Both our families didn't have much input on colors, decoration, what we wore, etc. It was a learning experience for everyone, but I liked being able to be involved in every detail and help our families through all the decisions."

The reception celebration is coming up next!
