Happy Friday, girlfriends! I have to share this beautiful destination Indian wedding highlight reel in Ft. Luaderdale, Fl. by Bridges Cinema and Maloman Studios with all of you! The more I watch, the more I wish I was part of the celebration! This couple knows how to party! Everyones on they're feet, getting down to the tunes of Volcanik Entertainment. And if that's not enough, the bravebride gets on the mic to show off her vocal skills! Speaking of the Maharani, her reception gown is a bewitching bevy of beads! A girl's gotta sparkle, right ladies?! What a showstopper! To top it all off, the couple takes family and friends on a boat ride cruise aboard the Venetian Lady for the afterparty. I need to be BFFs with this couple!
From the bride:
"Lots of girls dream of having a big fat Indian wedding but that's exactly what I didn't want. I wanted to make our wedding elegant and intimate, classy yet not over the top, and we wanted to enjoy each moment and talk to our guests as opposed to saying, "I don't remember anything!" We wanted to make it fun so our friends and family felt that they had escaped to Fort Lauderdale for a weekend vacation. So many weddings are exactly the same but we also knew that we wanted to make our wedding non-traditional and add a little flare to each event. All the vendors we hired helped us pull this off, especially Suhaag Garden and Volcanic DJ and lighting who helped make it so beautiful and pull my entire vision together!! We had a bright and festive sangeet that weaved Rajasthani, Moroccan, Indian and Arabic themed decor fuzed with Brazilian Samba dancers and drummers, an intimate and lighthearted ceremony with a baraat on the beach. We wanted to create that cool Miami club feel for the reception. So we rented a Yacht for the reception. It was a gorgeous evening as we cruised down the canals of Fort Lauderdale while partying on the boat."
On the best part of planning:
"What was amazing about the whole process was that the wedding was 100% our own. Govind and I not only planned but we fully funded the wedding as well. We really wanted to show our appreciation to our parents and wanted our families to enjoy as much as possible and not get caught up in the stress of the planning a big affair. We planned the whole thing in literally three months and didn't involve anyone but each other. While it was at times stressful and exhausting, when it all came together, it was such a special feeling to know that it was truly our own."
On the most memorable moments:
"Every moment was special and memorable but one of the memorable moments for me was when I sang for Govind at the Sangeet. I used to sing in high school but had not done so for a long time and was so nervous. I sang Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love." Each word expressed how I felt about Govind and I'll never forget the look on his face as I sang and the love I felt as I watched him."
On the first dance:
"I've danced since I was a little girl. I can dance anytime, anyplace. Govind on the other hand, unless he has some "special" beverages in him, doesn't like to groove. However, knowing how much it meant to me, he agreed to take dance lessons to prepare for the big day. Our first dance was sooo fun...completely different, latin and sexy. We danced to Don Omar's Danza Kurduro, which consisted of a combination of merengue and bahata moves. I'm so proud of Govind for busting a move and shaking it!"
On forgetting one important detail:
"Given the shortage of time we had to plan the wedding, I completely forgot to get a canopy for the bridal entrance that my brother and cousins could carry over me as I walked down the aisle. So my mom and dad went to the hardware and fabric stores and literally built one for me. My dad bought 4 wooden rods and spray-painted them while my mom lined them with pink sequences. Then, they took a gorgeous pink chunni and nailed it to the rods with beads and flowers hanging down from each end. It looked so professional and beautiful, and I couldn't believe they spent two days making it for me. It really touched my heart."
