Mayakoba, MX Multicultural Wedding by Pixan Photography

Next in our Best of 2024 Weddings series is a beautiful multicultural celebration in Mayakoba. Winnie and Andres' love story began with a chance meeting at a capsule hostel in Tokyo, Japan, which quickly blossomed into a deep connection. After years apart during college, they reconnected, and their love grew stronger. In July 2022, Andres proposed during a romantic dinner at Tulum's Azulik restaurant, surprising Winnie with a family heirloom ring hidden in her dessert.

Winnie envisioned a wedding that honored her Ugandan and Punjabi roots while embracing Andres' Mexican heritage. The celebration spanned several days at two stunning Mayakoba venues: Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Andaz Mayakoba Riviera Maya, with expert planning by Eunice Bravo Weddings and Cristina Ogando Weddings. Winnie’s mother, who passed away in 2023, played a pivotal role in the planning. Winnie paid tribute to her mother’s legacy by incorporating her favorite flower, tulips, throughout the wedding, beautifully executed by her floral and decor vendor, Pri Ola.

The wedding beautifully blended cultures, with each event reflecting their unique heritage. The "First Class Flight Around the World" dinner at Banyan Tree took guests on a culinary journey through India, Japan, Mexico, Uganda, and the USA, with Winnie’s African-inspired outfit setting a vibrant tone. At her father’s villa, the Mehndi ceremony featured tabla music, Punjabi folk songs, and a tribute to her late mother, with her name and tulips etched into Winnie’s henna, beautifully done by Loto Mehndi. Meanwhile, makeup artist Alex Corbanezi ensured Winnie looked stunning at every moment throughout the events.

The Mexican Welcome Party at Andaz Mayakoba was a lively celebration with tequila bars, Mayan fire dancers, and a mariachi band, while the Haldi ceremony, set against turquoise waters, featured yellow origami cranes honoring Winnie’s mother, followed by an Asian-inspired feast and a joyful ocean plunge.

Winnie made a grand entrance at the Sikh wedding ceremony, arriving by boat with her brother before exchanging vows in a spiritual setting. Her maroon lehenga featured Andres' name in Punjabi. The day culminated in a Mexican wedding ceremony with a mariachi band and live painter, Juliana Casali, followed by an African jungle-themed reception, complete with a tribute to Winnie’s mother.

DJ Sunny P and Beats by Jay elevated the entire celebration with their exceptional performance, adding an extra layer of energy and excitement to the event

The wedding, captured by Pixan Photography and Ismael Gonzalez Filmmaker, was a beautiful blend of cultures and love. From Tokyo to Tulum, their journey is proof that the best stories are woven with intention, love, and a touch of fate.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met in 2016 at a capsule hostel in Tokyo, Japan. After traveling together for a few days, we realized we were sleeping in pods right next to each other without even knowing it! I knew he was "the one" when I didn’t want to lose the connection we had.

How did you go about planning your wedding?
After considering multiple locations, we chose Mexico, where most of Andres' family could attend. I wanted a private, luxury venue with attention to detail, so I chose Mayakoba’s Banyan Tree and Andaz resorts. Although I had a wedding planner, I took charge of every detail, creating a cultural, immersive experience for our 150 guests from around the world. Tragically, my mother passed away in 2023, and I had to finish planning the wedding alone, but I honored her at every event.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress?
I chose a maroon lengha with a traditional feel, but in a shade that suited my skin tone better than red. The best part? It was the first lengha I tried on, and it felt like it was meant to be. I also had Andres’ name embroidered in Punjabi.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process?
Visiting Mayakoba with my mom and dad was incredibly special. Even though I planned the wedding without my mom, she was with me in spirit, and her support made the entire experience feel blessed.

What did your guests love most about your wedding?
The cultural immersion, the spiritual elements throughout the wedding, the storytelling in every event, and the attention to detail were all highlights for our guests. They also appreciated how well-organized everything was.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
If something is on your heart, don’t hesitate—grab the mic and say it. These moments are yours to cherish.

Tenerife, ESP Indian Wedding by Pervez Taufiq Photography

Next in our Best of 2024 Weddings series is a stunning celebration from Spain! Revathi and Shlok’s journey began as high school sweethearts, sharing shy smiles, laughter, and a bond strengthened by basketball games and endless time together. Though life took them in different directions for a while, fate—and a little help from mutual friends—brought them back together, rekindling their love with even greater passion and devotion.

In April 2023, with the NYC skyline as their backdrop, Shlok proposed, marking the next chapter of their love story with a promise of forever. They envisioned a wedding that would match the depth of their journey, choosing the breathtaking Tenerife, Spain, as the ideal setting.

Their wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, overlooked the serene ocean, creating an idyllic backdrop for each event, from a lively Sangeet to a traditional Indian wedding and glamorous reception. The ballroom decor, beautifully brought to life by our Platinum Guide member Aria Events and Smazing Events brought their dream celebration to life.

La Casa de las Flores beautifully transformed each event space with stunning floral arrangements and traditional Indian decor. From the hanging mirrors and crystals adorning the dance floor at the sangeet, to the vibrant table setup at the haldi with clear jars filled with colorful flowers, and an elegant mandap draped in lush blooms – every detail was a work of art.

The celebration continued with captivating entertainment from Groovy Dhol Revolution and violinist Ana ObandoDJ Raj Minocha and Platinum Road Show kept guests on their feet, ensuring a night filled with joyful memories.

Their reception, inspired by the Great Gatsby, was a glamorous finale with flowing champagne, flapper dancers, and endless celebrations. With travel managed seamlessly by Luxx Escapes, guests could immerse themselves fully in the wedding festivities.

It was truly a magical wedding, destined to inspire memories for a lifetime. From heartfelt moments to dazzling celebrations, Pervez Taufiq Photography captured every detail with breathtaking artistry, ensuring Revathi and Shlok will treasure these memories forever.

How did you meet your groom, and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met as high school sweethearts in Edison, New Jersey. Although we faced challenges and spent time apart during college, our bond only grew stronger when we reconnected. Our journey together included supporting each other through tough times, like family losses and career struggles. Over the years, our relationship blossomed, and in April 2023, Shlok proposed in New York City. That moment marked the beginning of our forever. Our wedding in Tenerife in 2024 was the perfect culmination of our love story.

How did you go about planning your wedding and choosing your vendors?

Planning our wedding was a labor of love. My mother-in-law and I worked tirelessly on everything from the venue to the decor, making multiple trips to India for outfit selections. We were meticulous with every detail to ensure everything was perfect, which brought us closer together. The whole process was time-consuming, but the effort paid off, and it created lasting memories.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process?
The most enjoyable part was picking my outfits. My mother-in-law and I bonded over late-night calls, coordinating every detail. It was a stressful but rewarding experience, and we still reminisce about it. It brought us closer than ever.

What did your guests particularly love about your wedding?

We focused on creating an unforgettable experience for our guests—curating unique menus for each event, arranging smooth transportation, and bringing in entertainment. Our goal was to ensure they felt appreciated for traveling to Tenerife, and their enjoyment was our priority.

Dearborn, MI Indian Wedding by Killer Creations Photography and Films

In the heart of Dearborn, Michigan, Megan & Raj's wedding was nothing short of a vibrant tapestry woven with love, tradition, and a touch of modern flair. Their Indian-themed celebration at The Henry Hotel was a testament to the beauty that unfolds when two cultures unite harmoniously.

As the sun cast its golden glow, Raj entered a traditional Baraat, arriving on a red convertible. The rhythmic beats of the dhol announced his arrival, setting the tone for the day's festivities. Not to be outdone, Megan graced the ceremony in a stunning ensemble that seamlessly blended contemporary elegance with traditional Indian motifs, turning heads and capturing hearts.

The reception was lively, with speeches that tugged at heartstrings and dances that set the floor ablaze. Megan & Raj's first dance was a mesmerizing fusion of Western ballroom grace and Bollywood flair, leaving guests in awe and setting the perfect tone for the evening. By the time the formalities were over, the only thing left was to party like there was no tomorrow. And let's say: this crowd understood the assignment. From Bollywood beats to Top 40 hits, DJ Genesis packed the floor all night. The energy? Through the roof.

Killer Creations Photography and Cinematography artfully captured every fleeting glance and joyous tear. Their keen eye for detail and storytelling prowess ensured that Megan & Raj's love story was immortalized in film and photo. Their professionalism and dedication were evident in every shot, making them an invaluable part of the celebration.

Behind the seamless flow of events was the meticulous planning of Marigold Wedding Planners. Their expertise in design and coordination transformed the venue into a dreamscape, reflecting Megan & Raj's vision to perfection. From the intricate floral arrangements to the ambient lighting, every detail was thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable experience.

Megan's intricate bridal mehndi was an actual work of art—thanks to the talented Radhe Henna. Every delicate detail in her henna design held meaning and symbolism, adding a sentimental touch to an already unforgettable celebration. Megan's flawless bridal glow was thanks to the incredibly talented Amanie Mokdad and Hair By Rochelle J. The duo worked their magic to create a bridal look that was both timeless and modern—perfectly complementing Megan's stunning lehenga. Every detail was perfection, from bold, beautiful eyes to an elegant updo.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Our story began in 2016 when Raj sent me a Facebook message out of the blue as many mutual friends had suggested to him that we'd be compatible -- it didn't take long for sparks to fly.

From the first date, I felt I could be completely myself around Raj. He inspired me to be my best, and we discovered a deep compatibility, tackling everything from the mundane to the momentous with ease. Most importantly, Raj immediately appreciated and reciprocated my off-beat wit and playful sarcasm – a clear tell to me that he was "the one".

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
During the Holidays in our sixth year, I came home planning to attend Raj's company Christmas party...or so I thought!

Raj took me to the same spot where we had our first Valentine's day, and decorated the hall with the help of our family and friends. When we first walked in, I thought we were intruding on someone else's proposal -- little did I know!

With our favorite song playing in the background, Raj got down on one knee to propose to my surprise -- Afterwards, we had an unforgettable night celebrating with our close family and friends!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
When we began planning our wedding, our top priority was creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests while still bringing our dream wedding to life. Knowing how overwhelming wedding planning can be, we took it one step at a time, breaking down the process into manageable pieces. Things fell into place beautifully from there.

We started with the venue and were lucky enough to find one that perfectly balanced our needs with the elegant atmosphere we envisioned. Next, we hired a wedding planner whose expert guidance proved invaluable. She connected us with a fantastic team of vendors, including a hair and makeup artist, caterer, DJ, photographer/videographer, and of course, a talented decor specialist.

Choosing my bridal outfit in Toronto with my family was a truly emotional moment. It was then that it really hit me – this was actually happening!

For the decor, I had always envisioned a simple yet elegant, almost regal, theme. My planner perfectly captured this vision and offered wonderful recommendations to bring it to fruition.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
At first, I envisioned a traditional maroon velvet lehenga for my wedding. However, when I found my ultimate outfit, all my preconceived notions vanished. Even though it was different from what I had imagined, it felt absolutely perfect. Wearing it, I felt like royalty -- In that moment, I knew my bridal outfit was decided.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of planning our wedding was the way it brought our families together. It truly takes a village to pull off a wedding, and we all had the same goal. Working together, we were challenged to have meaningful and honest conversations, which helped break down barriers and formalities, ultimately uniting us as one family.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Since our wedding, we've been so touched by the feedback from our guests. They especially loved the vibrant and warm atmosphere at every event, from the Mehndi to the Reception. We made it a point to keep the energy high and smiles on our faces, hoping that positive vibes were contagious and that our guests felt it, too.

We've also received rave reviews about the food. Even though we primarily served Indian dishes throughout our various events, our caterer did an incredible job of adding unique touches to each meal, keeping everything fresh and exciting!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The special moment that replays in my mind is the First Look before our wedding. After getting ready for the ceremony, our photographer escorted me into into a private area where Raj was standing with his back turned -- from there, I tapped Raj on his shoulder, and with his back to me he slowly turned around and we had the same exact reaction, of pure excitement and jaws dropped --this has easily become my favorite picture from the wedding.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Our wedding celebrations began with an intimate Haldi ceremony with close family and friends. This was followed by a vibrant and eventful Mehndi party at my family's home, officially kicking off the wedding weekend. Raj and I had a joint Mehndi, a wonderful opportunity to welcome our families and informally introduce them to each other. We played games to engage all our guests and exchanged gifts. My parents worked tirelessly to transform our home into the perfect event space, adorning it with colorful, fresh flowers to welcome everyone. We also had fireworks and a large welcome banner for Raj's family.

The Sangeet was all about vibrant color and high energy, creating a festive and celebratory atmosphere. we even incorporated custom-made Bollywood posters, replacing the actors with our our faces, like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai." We had live food stations serving Indian street food, and a jam-packed program filled with dances from our loved ones, including a surprise performance from Raj and me.

For our reception, we chose a more sophisticated theme using neutral colors like gold and white. Heartfelt toasts from our best friends and moving speeches from our parents brought both tears of joy and laughter to our eyes. Finally, our DJ took over, and with an incredible Bollywood-American fusion mix, keeping everyone on the dance floor all night.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
While wedding planning can be challenging and demanding, it's important to take it one step at a time. This is a unique opportunity to create a truly special event, bringing together all the most important people in your lives. Prioritize what YOU want out of the experience and try to enjoy the process.

It's also essential to find a team that shares your vision and values. I was fortunate to have a strong support system to step in when needed, and vendors who expertly guided me through navigated uncharted waters.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Early in the planning process, I sometimes questioned the value of hiring a wedding planner. Now, having gone through the experience, I can confidently say it's absolutely worth it. Especially when you're overwhelmed with the details, like timelines and itineraries, or even need expert advice on things like hair and makeup (which, as a first-time bride, I definitely did!), a good planner is invaluable.

Sweeties, with stunning details and heartfelt moments, this wedding was one for the books.

Kissimmee, FL Indian Wedding by PTaufiq Photography

Nestled amidst the grandeur of the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, FL, Puja & Dawank’s South Indian wedding was the epitome of elegance, love, and vibrant celebration. From the dreamy floral decor to the electrifying dance floor, every moment was crafted to perfection, leaving guests mesmerized.

As the sun cast its golden glow, the couple’s grand entrance into the ceremony set the tone for the day—a magical blend of tradition and modern romance. Puja walked in like a true queen, draped in a breathtakingly detailed bridal outfit that shimmered with every step. Meanwhile, Dawank, donning a regal ensemble, couldn’t keep his eyes off her. Their chemistry? Undeniable. Their smiles? Pure magic.

When it was time to party, M4U Events took center stage and ensured this wedding went down in history. The reception was electrifying, with DJ Nik spinning tracks that kept everyone on the dance floor well past midnight. From Bollywood beats to Top 40 hits, the playlist was pure fire. Puja & Dawank’s first dance under a canopy of shimmering disco balls was a scene-stealer, leaving everyone cheering for an encore. If weddings were concerts, this one would have been a sold-out show.

Apsara Events, the brilliant planning and design team, ensured every element of Puja & Dawank’s wedding was seamlessly executed. From coordinating intricate details to bringing the couple’s vision to life, their expertise shone through every moment. Nikun Events By Pinky elevated the celebration with breathtaking floral arrangements and decor that perfectly blended tradition with contemporary elegance. Together, they created an ambiance that was as enchanting as the couple’s love story.

The talented team at PTaufiq Photography captured every detail with precision and artistry. The Haldi ceremony was a riot of colors and laughter, with Puja playfully smearing haldi on Dawank’s face—and vice versa. Their personalities truly shone in these candid moments, reminding us that love is as much about shared laughter as it is about vows. Another standout moment? The breathtaking fireworks lit up the night sky as the couple embraced, symbolizing the start of their bright and beautiful future. Cue the collective “aww” from everyone watching. Swipe through their photos, and you’ll feel like you were right there, dancing alongside them.
