Nirupama and Athmeya’s contemporary Indian wedding in the heart of New York City is the embodiment of elegance and a modern flair! Charmi Peña Photography truly made the entire event come alive by capturing all the stunning details and the color galore. Arun Ramamurthy and his team of musicians, Jay Gandhi, and Ehron Hansen, set an ethnic tone to the ceremony with their melodious classical live music, and Bhatti Indian Grill’s flavorful mix of South Indian and North Indian cuisine elevated the traditional vibe. “They designed an incredible menu for us with interesting and unusual takes on traditional Indian foods”, recalled Nirupama. It was one thing to see this Maharani walk down in her embellished fuchsia Kanjeevaram sari draped by Karen from Bridal Gal, but it was her choice of jewelry that really warmed our hearts. “For the ceremony, I wore my grandmother’s gold necklace that my mother wore at her wedding, and my other grandmother’s earrings,” said Nirupama, who “loved putting together the ceremony look because each piece had such sentimental significance.” Mehndikalogie’s intricate henna design coupled with shimmer and refined makeup by Bridal Gal's Lilly Rivera enhanced Nirupama’s bridal look. Athmeya’s mustard yellow kurta was equal parts traditional and contemporary. Scroll through Nirupama and Athmeya’s gallery and you’ll be convinced that the decorator, Ravi Verma wrote a book on fusing tradition and modernity!

This beautiful couple prioritized their guests above everything (you go #Pamameya!) According to Nirupama, DJ Shilpa’s groovy beats kept their guests dancing all night at the reception, a gold and purple spectacle that we will cover in detail in our next post!
