From our Maharani, Nika :
I went to India only for three weeks! Those three weeks were crazy! We were on the go every single day from morning till the shops closed. I saw a few saris but they weren’t exactly what I was looking for so we designed my wedding outfit from other pieces and got it made right away, which took the whole three weeks. I tried it on for measurement 2 days before I left to come back to the US, talk about crazy huh?  I was freaking out. Shopping for my other outfits wasn’t so stressful but still heard because I was trying to find the perfect outfits.  I wanted certain colors but they weren’t in season when I went which was Jan 2010.  My time in India was amazing even though we really didn’t get to travel much but we enjoyed the time we had there. For future brides out there, the time you have with your family in India is precious. Enjoy every moment because time flies by so fast that it will seems like your wedding came and is already gone. I have to say both my families worked extremely hard for our wedding and everything paid off, it was beautiful! I appreciate their hard work and commitment to giving us our dream wedding. Our guests said everything ran very smoothly and was very organized for an Indian wedding. Everyone knows that is a hard job to perform.  If I could go back to the week of the wedding, I would! I enjoyed everything with my family and friends but the only thing I would change would be spending more time with them during the events. We were on the go a lot of course because it’s our wedding. Everyone was very understanding but I’m glad they all had the best time.
The style set for our wedding was traditional but with a little bling of course. As a young girl I always loved to dress up as a bride so I knew I wanted to look like royalty. That’s what I got when my cousin Lisham Patel of Beauty by Lishma got me ready with hair, makeup and mehndi. She did an amazing job and I am very grateful to her. My wedding photographs were the second most important thing for me besides my outfits. I had looked at so many photographers but when I saw the work of Yogi Patel from Global photography I had no doubt in my mind I had to fly him to Tennessee to photograph my wedding. He captured every moment of my wedding and the images are outstanding.
Reception finale coming right up!
