One of the most breath taking parts of the Hindu ceremony is known as the Saptapadi, or the seven steps. As the priest chants mantras, the bride and groom take seven steps together around the fire. This ritual symbolizes the vessel of married life, which they both will live together, hand in hand. The bride and groom vow to be by each other’s side through better or worse, thick and thin.
