Maharani Shabana and her hubs-to-be, Raja Vivek, are getting ready for the most important day of their lives as planner, Simply by Tamara Nicole, takes care of all the important logistics to make sure every thing is just perfect for their ceremony. Today's bride is being glammed to Princess perfection by Yessie Libby Artistry, who's hair and makeup skills are giving her the flawless finish for her first look portraits. The bride, on how she met the Raja of her dreams:
"We met in college at the University of Miami. He and his cousin came to my dorm room to look for my roommate and we ended up talking for a while. I knew he was "the one" after a few weeks of being friends and realizing how much we had in common. I just knew he was perfect for me. We continued our relationship for 7 years (most of it was long distance due to schooling). We went fought through so many obstacles to be together like distance and religious differences (he is Hindu and I am Muslim and we had a lot of difficulty with family acceptance of the relationship)."
On the proposal:
"We had been dating for almost 7 years (most of the relationship was long distance after we transferred to different schools to finish our degrees). I had just landed my first big job after graduating from pharmacy school and Vivek said he wanted to do a dinner with some of our friends to celebrate. We went to my favorite restaurant in Seattle. One of our friends excused himself from the table. Then all of a sudden the music in the restaurant went silent and our friend appeared with a guitar and started playing it. Another friend whipped out his cell phone and started taping me. And another friend started taking photos of me. Vivek gets up from his seat and got down on one knee to propose. I was crying the whole time. It was the prefect proposal."
On her hair and makeup:
"I knew I wanted to keep my makeup more on the natural side. I also wanted my hair to just fall freely with some waves and curls. I basically entrusted my makeup artist, Yessie Libby, to work her magic. She was amazing and just understood what I wanted and created a look around that."
On choosing her dream wedding lengha:
"I had my eye on my lengha from Seasons India for a few years. I was just waiting for the moment when I could buy it for our wedding! I loved that it was all gold with intense bead work and touches of red and green stones. When I first tried it on after ordering it, I knew I had made the right choice."
