Some destination weddings are beautiful escapes. Others feel like fully immersive experiences where every detail—from the fashion to the florals to the late-night dance floor chaos—looks like it belongs inside the pages of a luxury bridal editorial. Sohi & Fenil’s Riviera Maya wedding weekend delivered exactly that kind of magic: equal parts timeless tradition, tropical romance, and modern South Asian wedding glamour.
Hosted at the breathtaking El Dorado Royale, this multi-day celebration perfectly blended classic Indian wedding traditions with contemporary design and fashion-forward elegance. The result? A destination wedding that felt elevated and luxurious while still overflowing with warmth, family, and the joyful energy that makes South Asian weddings so unforgettable.
From the very beginning, the atmosphere felt like paradise. Behind the flawless execution of the celebrations was our Platinum Guide member Events by Srishti, who beautifully curated and designed every moment of the wedding weekend. Destination weddings require a delicate balance between logistics and creativity, and this team delivered an experience that felt seamless, immersive, and deeply reflective of the couple’s vision. Every event carried its own distinct personality while still feeling cohesive throughout the weekend—a true hallmark of exceptional planning and design.
The haldi celebration embraced vibrant color, tropical joy, and modern style in the most refreshing way. Sohi stunned in a playful and fashion-forward outfit by Torani, paired with statement jewelry from Vaidan that perfectly complemented the sunny Riviera Maya backdrop. The celebration radiated happiness from every angle, filled with flower petals, laughter, turmeric-covered family members, and the kind of beautiful chaos every unforgettable haldi deserves.
The energy only intensified during the sangeet, where Sohi & Fenil embraced modern South Asian fashion beautifully. Coordinated outfits from Qbik paired with glamorous jewelry by Nayaab By Sonia created an effortlessly chic aesthetic that balanced contemporary elegance with celebratory flair. And once the music began, guests wasted absolutely no time filling the dance floor.
Because if there’s one thing destination South Asian weddings guarantee, it’s that no one travels internationally to “leave early.” DJ Sobhit kept the energy soaring throughout the weekend, transforming every event into a vibrant celebration where dance circles, spontaneous choreography, and nonstop music became the unofficial dress code. Somewhere between the Bollywood hits and tropical cocktails, everyone collectively forgot what time it was—and honestly, that’s exactly how destination weddings should feel.
For the wedding ceremony itself, the Riviera Maya scenery provided the perfect romantic backdrop for a celebration rooted in tradition while still embracing modern sophistication. Sohi looked breathtaking in her wedding ensemble from Marwar Couture, embodying regal Maharani elegance with intricate craftsmanship and timeless bridal beauty. Fenil complemented her perfectly in a sophisticated look by Jatin Malik Couture, together creating the kind of effortlessly glamorous couple photographers dream about.
The jewelry styling throughout the weekend added another layer of luxury and intentionality, featuring exquisite pieces from Hamna Amir Designer Jewelry, Namasya, Riana by Shikha Jindal, and Mangalsutra Bangles. Every bridal look felt layered, intentional, and deeply reflective of the balance between classic tradition and contemporary style woven throughout the wedding.
The reception then transitioned into full-scale luxury celebration mode, with Sohi changing into a glamorous ensemble by Seema Gujral that perfectly captured the romantic sophistication of the evening. Candlelit details, tropical surroundings, and elegant décor from El Dorado Royale created an atmosphere that felt intimate yet spectacular all at once.
Adding flawless finishing touches throughout the weekend was Styling Trio, whose hair and makeup artistry kept Sohi looking radiant from sunrise ceremonies to late-night dance floor moments. Mehndi artistry from Lemons and Mehndi brought intricate beauty and timeless tradition into the celebration seamlessly.
Capturing every breathtaking detail was Karma Productions, whose photography beautifully documented the weekend with warmth, elegance, and cinematic storytelling. From soft oceanfront portraits to vibrant dance floor moments, every image feels immersive and emotionally rich, preserving not only the visual beauty of the wedding but the incredible energy surrounding it.
Sohi & Fenil’s Riviera Maya destination wedding was the perfect blend of modern romance and timeless South Asian celebration—a wedding where tropical paradise, couture fashion, meaningful traditions, and nonstop joy came together effortlessly beneath the Mexican sun.
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Fenil for the first time after months of talking. We met at a neutral location at first, and have been inseparable since!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Fenil proposed in New York City. He planned a full day where he took me to the apartment where my parents raised us for our first few years of life. He planned a day full of activities surrounding my previous family and friends. It was truly special!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Overall, we had a great experience with our wedding planning process! Our planner was Events by Srishti, and Srishti did a great job at making our big day feel special. Our Wedding was in Riviera Maya, Mexico at El Dorado Royale. We wanted a more boutique feel to our wedding, but still wanted our guests to have the best experience in Paradise. Hair and makeup were local to Mexico. My outfits were all curated in Delhi (Haldi look - Torani, Sangeet look - Qbik, Wedding look - Marwar Couture, Reception look - Seema Gujral). Themes were the following: Haldi - fresh market, Sangeet - 2000’s jungle disco.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I have always loved Marwar Couture. It is the one brand that stays true to Rajasthani desi prints and embroidery. The color did not matter as much, but I have always been a more earthy-toned girl.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The best part of the planning process was incorporating the interests and learning more about the nuances of family and friends! We ultimately wanted to curate an amazing guest experience.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The guests loved the energy, personalized details, and the comfort and vacation feel.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I would say the feeling of having family and friends around to celebrate our big day!
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Haldi - my dream Haldi was to incorporate elements of the Earth. Therefore, we had a multicolored Haldi with colored powder from natural elements.
Sangeet - Our dances were all 2000’s themed. It was essential to me to celebrate songs from our childhood, and share them with people who were not well versed in Bollywood music
Wedding - our only requirement was to incorporate the beach. For us, the beach is the most special place. The funniest part of our wedding was our Jutha Chupai!! Fights broke out, and intense negotiation flooded our wedding.
Reception - our reception was classic and timeless, filled with special speeches and happy tears
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the process as much as you can, and sit back and take in each moment!
