Chicago, IL - TX Muslim Wedding by Mir Anwar Studios

I can't think of a better way to start the second week of May than with a fabulous Muslim wedding! The elegance, details, and sophistication of this feature are truly unique. Shaleen & Sabih's style can definitely be seen and experienced throughout the various ceremonies, and we are absolutely adoring the finesse and care put into the creation of such a beautiful event. Today, and thanks to Mir Anwar Studios, we will be having a closer look into what went on in Chicago for all the traditional ceremonies and then in Dallas for the reception, so, be sure, ladies, that this highlight reel is going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. Several of our known friends lent their talent so Shaleen & Sabih's vision could come to life. Wedding Decor By Faiza was in charge of crafting the decoration and bringing the marvelous floral designs for the reception or Valima.  Also, Anmol Catering's culinary wonders delighted everyone for both the Mehndi and Traditional ceremonies, held at the Windy City, and our lovebirds couldn't have chosen a better foodie team. After they tied the knot, the gala indeed moved to Dallas and our Outspoken Visions Entertainment pals, turned it into a real middle eastern party! So romantic! You can't miss our cinematic experience of today, ladies, hit play below and relieve Shaleen & Sabih's gorgeous union one more time.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Some background to this story is that I love to read. A few months prior to proposing, I was at Target running errands and ended up in the book section unable to make up my mind as to which book I should buy. Sabih called me just to see what I was up to and I told him my dilemma that there so many books I wanted to read but couldn't pick just one. He asked me the names of the books on my must-read list. I told him and eventually left Target thinking I'd buy the books later. Fast forward to July 2017. I went to Dallas to celebrate Sabih's birthday with him (we were long distance) and he took me to the botanical gardens the day before his birthday. We walk down to a portion of the gardens with a bench on the bench are a stack of the same books that I mentioned I wanted a few months back. Along with those books is another really beautiful book. Sabih asks me to sit down, tells me he's going to read me a story. He opens the book and each page tells a story about my life from my childhood days to when I first met Sabih and our time together. He handwrote each page and drew pictures of the house I grew up in, the masjid I pray at and so much more.  The very last page of the book said "will you marry me" and the ring was placed in the book. There was a photographer nearby who was able to capture every moment.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Excel sheets, a supportive family and friends and my husband were the reason the wedding was everything I imagined it would be and more. I made sure to book venues and makeup and photographers first since those book fast. I knew what colors I wanted my mehndi outfit to be and then led to color and theme for the wedding. I wanted a festive almost Aladdin themed mehndi. I wanted to the Shaadi to be a candlelight dinner. My goal was for each event to be different from the last. I made my vision clear the vendors, had multiple follow up visits to make sure we were all the same page.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My mom, sister and cousins all came to Pakistan with me to help me pick out a lengha. I knew I wanted a deep shade of red. I went to a ton different places but nothing gave me that bridal feeling until I tried the deep red outfit at Farah Talib.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Because Sabih and I were pretty hands-on with the planning, the best part was seeing what we envisioned come to life. My mom was my right hand and I loved that the planning process allowed us to spend more time together.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests loved the food, decor, and dances. My dad was in charge of managing the caterers and assured that everyone was able to enjoy the different cuisines we had (American, Pakistani, Chinese and Mexican food). Both my side and Sabih’s side worked hard to put together a medley of dances that the crowd really enjoyed

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Sabih and I didn’t do a first look so the first time I see him on our wedding day was when I walked down the aisle. I was nervous walking in front of everyone but as soon my eyes met Sabih’s everything felt better.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Live in the moment. It’s the best time of your life so don’t get caught up in little details not going your way. Take in each moment and enjoy it.
See you tomorrow ladies!

I met my groom freshman year of college when he was a junior. I knew he was the one 3 months after our first date.

^^ video.
It was a summer day and his family from Arizona came to visit. We decided to do a family day trip out to Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton NJ. We took a couple of photos and just hung out as a family. He took me away at one point to take near the lily pond gazebo. Just as he was leading me up to the gazebo staircases, a man stopped us to tell us not to go there was a proposal happening! At that point I was still very clueless and didn't know what was going on. My husband still thought we should go up right before the "couple" came up. I hesitantly went up but once i did i was in complete shock when i saw him go down on one knee. After that, the rest was history! ( see video)

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I went to New Delhi India to go shopping with my mom, MIL, and aunt. We ended up at frontier rass and got both my reception and wedding dress. I knew what style i wanted for my reception but I was open to color. And for my wedding lengha, i knew I wanted red or maroon.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part is to plan was the creativity. As a person working in pharmaceuticals, creativity is limited so this was extremely fun to do.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The music video my groom and I decided to do.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Two points.
1. The first look was I first saw my groom in his outfit. It just felt surreal
2. Up on stage controlling the dance floor

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Everything will be beautiful and enjoy every moment.

Hope you love this flick as much as I did. Until tomorrow!
