Herndon, Virginia Indian Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

It's always exciting to receive a wedding from Akbar, you know it's going to be unique and today it's not an exception. I'm happy to present to you Abi and Varun's inspiring wedding film by Akbar Sayed Photography! We had the pleasure of featuring their stunning wedding images in our blog so make sure to check them out! I love the cinematic style that takes us through a wedding weekend like no other at the Dulles Hyatt. DMV Decor was in charge of bringing our couple's vision to life with mesmerizing decor on each of their events, from colorful umbrellas for their Sangeet to a night under the starts for their reception, absolutely beautiful! Abi looked jaw-dropping with every look but my favorite is seeing her emerge donning a stunning red lengha further beautified with the perfect kundan jewelry, ready to surprise Varun in a lovely first look moment marking the start of their wedding day. They had a reception to remember for many years to come, concluding with a lively party where all the guests celebrated their union and were able to take a memento home thanks to Poze N Cheez. Kudos to Extravagant Affairs for pulling the perfect weekend for Abi and Varun!

See you tomorrow, Maharanis!

Dallas, TX Indian Wedding by Epique Cinema

Maharanis, we have such a treat for you today! Hailing from Dallas, TX, this larger than life celebration bursts with class, pizzazz, and style. Epique Cinema brings us the truly magical wedding film of Sonal and Parth’s special weekend, and we felt as if we had been whisked off on the most delightful of fairy tales. The couple brought in a who’s who of the top Texan wedding vendors, including K.I. Weddings who oversaw the proceedings with their typical grace and reliability. And with Prashe in their corner, each event featured fantastical decor elements that blew guests’ minds. With flawless blush florals, luscious foliage, and the gorgeous Hyatt Regency Dallas venue brimming with all sorts of lovely, we are so excited to share every second of this weekend. The centerpiece of the celebration was the dashing couple of course, and Sonal was a breathtaking vision in a ruby red lehenga, shimmering makeup, and luxurious locks. The bride and groom enlisted the help of K.I. Weddings to create their big day(s) and what resulted was a true love story! Behind the lens capturing all the beautiful shots was Hiram Trillo Photography, and we can’t wait to bring you all the pristine snaps tomorrow in all their glory. Each stunning image captured by Hiram Trillo Photography had us breathless with romantic vibes. In the meantime, hurry and click play for a sneak peek of Sonal and Parth’s whimsical and bold wedding soiree. And make sure to scroll below for our exclusive interview with Sonal!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

It all began in January of 2016 when I thought I would be attending Parth's boss' surprise baby shower. I received an invitation from Parth's colleague with the "baby shower" details - April 9, 2016 at Ink 48 in NYC. When the day arrived, we were greeted in the lobby of Ink 48 and told to make our way to the Penthouse where the baby shower would take place. I was so distracted by the baby shower signs that I had no idea what was about to happen! Minutes later, Parth opened the door to a breathtaking view of the city, thousands of roses, and a photographer snapping away.

In the distance, I saw two crystal champagne glasses, a bottle of champagne, and a table full of pictures and rose petals. Parth walked me over to the table, got down on one knee, and popped the question! Of course I said Yes! We then made our way to dinner, where I thought it would just be the two of us. As we walked to our table both of their families were anxiously waiting. I was so happy Parth was able to get my parents and brother to make it all the way from Texas. The day was absolutely perfect!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

We decided to work with K.I. Weddings in order to make our planning process easier. We can’t thank them enough for making our planning experience such a pleasure. For the most part, we already knew which vendors we wanted to work with. Each one of vendors played an important part during our special weekend and we were satisfied with each and every one of them.

Venue: Hyatt Regency Dallas

Amy was terrific to work with and made sure every request we had was accommodated. I cannot think of a time she did not go above and beyond to get us what we wanted.

Hair & Make-up: Ms. Painted Lady

Alex was amazing! She is the best in the industry and made sure I had a different look for each event. During the weeks leading up to the wedding she was accessible and helped me create the perfect look.

Décor: Prashe

Prashe is in a league of her own. The creativity she brought to the table was unparalleled. We were going for a modern yet classy look and she helped us achieve that. No event looked the same and she was able to create a wow factor each time our guests walked into each room.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I wanted a traditional lengha and visited a few stores until I was able to find the perfect one. My dad actually was the one to pick out my lengha and that’s when I knew it was the one. I wanted to make sure the lengha was red and gold to ensure it had a traditional feel.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

Our guest had nothing but great things to say about the wedding which meant the world to us. There were actually a few things that stood out which were brought up to Parth and I from our guests.

Food – This is one of the most important things at a wedding. Guests love to see that you have a variety of dishes and want to enjoy each meal. Thankfully, Gopal Vegetarian Restaurant and Maharaja Indian Restaurant created a variety of dishes that our guests loved.

Décor – Our guests absolutely loved our décor and were impressed each time they walked into an event. Prashe made our vision a reality. We wanted a unique look for our wedding and reception and she was able to turn the room inside out to make it happen. Our wedding included traditional colors (red, ivory, gold, and green) with a modern open mandap, patterned aisle, and tons of candles. After the wedding, Prashe and her team were able to flip the room into a modern/edgy look with tons of mirrors, patterned dance floor, and a bar with the DJ elevated on top.

Music – We hired a live band (Medley Entertainment) and flew them down from NY for our Garba. Many of our guests had not seen this before and were very impressed. Additionally, we also worked with a DJ company called Premier Entertainment who is also based out of NY. Most of our guests were from the northeast and they loved the music that was played throughout our events.

Photo/Video – We used Hiram Trillo Photography and Epique Cinemas. Our guests said Hiram was extremely patient and was amazing to work with. He was great with the family and made sure we got the shots we wanted. Our guests were also in love with the same-day highlight video that was played during our reception. It was the perfect way to recap the weekend and we’ve received so many compliments on how great it turned out.

Venue – Our guests were impressed with the size of the venue as well as each of the ballrooms we held events in. Our coordinator was able to ensure we had a different room for each of our venues, which was important to us. The guests were extremely satisfied with the check-in process and the hospitality of the hotel staff.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

The most important piece of advice I can give any future brides is to live in the moment. Try not to get caught up in all the details and try to enjoy the planning process and wedding for what it is. This is a once in a lifetime experience and it will go by extremely fast. Everyone thinks they have a lot of time once the planning begins, but before you know it, your wedding day has arrived. We had 5 events in 3 days, but it felt like each event flew by. Try and enjoy the weekend as much as possible!

See you all tomorrow with a bounty of images from this beautiful weekend!

Today, they're ready to wow us once more with a look at a destination dream at the St. Regis Monarch Beach in Southern California, where Indian bride and groom, Komal and Shalin, tied the knot in a captivating outdoor ceremony and celebrated their union with a luxurious receptionDetails Details planned this Desi delight, which featured stunning floral and decor work by Bloom Box! We love the scenes of the happy couple frolicking about on the beach, throwing Holi powder at one another, and were smitten as can be with their first look at the 6:07 mark! Their love story:

Komal and Shalin met at a Swedish House Mafia concert in NYC through mutual friends. They didn't want the night to end, and continued chatting and getting to know each other long after the last song of the night played. Shalin was headed for a trip to Japan following the show, but they didn't let this get in the way of forming the strongest of bonds. They sent emails back and forth until they could be reunited again. Music holds a special place in their heart and in their story of coming together.

As part of their one-year anniversary celebration, Shalin had “let the cat out of the bag” and told Komal they would be going for a “special” rum tasting in the early evening. Little did she know, Shalin had another surprise waiting for her. Being the romantic planner he is, Shalin had insisted on taking pictures with Komal on the beach before they left the resort for their rum-tasting. Komal, being the amazing sport she is, let Shalin take the lead and accompanied him through the sand in her high heels. The scene couldn’t have been more perfect, with a rainbow arching over the ocean in the distance. After asking a resort guest to take a picture of them, Komal and Shalin headed back towards the resort, but before they could reach it, a “random” man with a painting kit stopped her to show off his artwork. He insisted on painting her, and with Shalin’s encouragement, they sat down in front of him, with the ocean and rainbow in the background. Little did she know, the street artist was about capture one of the most memorable moments in their lives.

What was supposed to be a 10 minute sketch, stretched to a 45 minute portrait. Komal had no idea what was going on until the artist put his final touch – a diamond ring! As they both stood up to take a look at their portrait, Komal gave Shalin a confused glance. As she turned around to ask Shalin why there was a ring on her left hand, he had already answered.

Down on one knee in the sand, Shalin asked Komal to marry him.

Maharani Shalin, on her wedding style:

"Our first engagement photo shoot and video shoot took place in the South of France, where we fell in love with the beauty of the French Riviera. It was such a magical and memorable time - something we wanted to share with our closest friends and family. It was with the lavender fields, rustic chateaus, and boat towns in mind that we chose the St. Regis Monarch Beach and Montage Laguna Beach for our events. The inherent elegance, proximity to the water, along with castle-like architecture allowed us to bring what we loved about France to our guests. France was a breath of fresh air, our Riviera Getaway - and California (Laguna Niguel/Dana Point/Laguna Beach) was a getaway for our nearest and dearest. The Mehndi night was meant to bring in the southern French market feel, along with influences of Morocco from the coastline. Our wedding was picture perfect and meant to showcase the regal structures of The St. Regis Monarch Beach. The dual staircases upon which Komal walked down to meet Shalin at the Mandap took her back to that summer day in Cassis at a local chateau. The Reception was the grand finale with golds and whites, ornate and elegant, similar to the Palace of Versailles."

On what they enjoyed most about planning their dream wedding:

"We absolutely loved working with our vendors - the amount of creativity and passion that they brought to this wedding was unbelievable. They helped us make our dream wedding come to life. Jeannie (Details Details) was incredible to work with, not only is she a great planner, but she is really invested in our well being and happiness - she put the wedding together so beautifully."

On her shopping for her dream wedding lengha(s):

"I began with following the designers on instagram about a month before my trip to India. I spent my time in Mumbai and went to all of the designers. When it came to my main wedding dresses, Manish Malhotra had everything I was looking for....I remember so vividly walking into his shop and pointing at my wedding lengha and saying "that's the one". I ended up browsing all of the other shops but I ended up back at Manish and purchased my sangeet, wedding, and reception outfits from him - luck had it, I even got his blessings on the outfits as he was sitting in the showroom and was happy to give his advice. I purchased my mehndi outfit from Sonaakshi Raaj - I knew I wanted a sari drape look, something fun and unique for my outdoor, ocean side event. We had about 5 events or so leading up to the main weekend, I ended up choosing Sabyasachi for my garba outfit - my mom would not leave his showroom without purchasing it! and purchased the rest from Sonaakshi Raaj and Aza Boutique."

On their music selection:

"We love Zac Brown Band - we go to his concert every time he is in the tri-state area - and wewanted to dance to something a little more upbeat. We danced to: "Loving You Easy" which speaks to our relationship so well. We ended up having it choreographed by a dance studio in NYC which was a lot of fun for us- it got Shalin dancing, which he never does!"

The bride, on her hair and makeup:

"I worked with Style by Susmita. Honestly, I did not have any styles in mind - I said to her, I want to look like a princess...and she did just that! I showed her my outfits and jewelry from my shopping trip and she put everything together. Even at the day of the event, I just sat down in my chair and let her work her magic."

On help from family and friends:

"We can not thank our friends and family enough for all that they did for us throughout the course of our wedding events - from hosting parties in our honor, all the way to helping my family greet all of our guests at the St. Regis and running around ensuring that everyone was having a good time, they were the best. My bridesmaids went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable - I couldn't have asked for better friends."

More from the bride:

"Our wedding events actually started in 2014 from the engagement party - I don't speak to it too much about it here, but it is important to bring up as it kicks off a whole year of celebrations. One of the most memorable moments in mine and Shalin's lives, aside from the wedding, will definitely be the Ravens Stadium Surprise...I blindfolded Shalin and walked him down to the Ravens Stadium and onto the field where the Ravens play, the day before our engagement party. I had Pacific Pictures video tape the entire surprise - you can see the video on our website www.komalandshalin.com. We were able to have our parents and brothers join us on the field as well. Shalin and his family are avid Raven's fan, having lived in Baltimore since Shalin was young - so this was quite the surprise!"

Outstanding, right? We knew you'd love it!
