If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s this: when love meets a tropical paradise, the result is nothing short of unforgettable. Kimberly & Anant’s destination wedding in Punta Cana was a sun-drenched, joy-filled celebration that blended vibrant South Asian traditions with laid-back Caribbean luxury—and yes, it delivered Wow Factor at every turn.

Like many modern love stories, theirs began unexpectedly during the COVID lockdown in 2020. When they finally met in person on a hike months later, the spark they had built virtually instantly came to life—and from then on, they became inseparable. Kimberly & Anant’s planned their wedding with care, incorporating their diverse backgrounds—Indian, Dominican, and Korean—to create a personal and culturally rich celebration. Kimberly's dream of a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic was ideal, especially with much of her family living there, making Punta Cana the perfect location for their special day.

Hosted at the iconic Hard Rock Punta Cana, this multi-day celebration felt like the ultimate wedding getaway—where every moment flowed seamlessly from heartfelt to high-energy. With the ocean breeze, palm-lined views, and golden sunsets as their backdrop, Kimberly & Anant created an experience that felt both elevated and effortlessly fun.

Bringing this vision to life was Shaadi Factory, whose expertise in planning destination South Asian weddings truly shined. From coordinating events across multiple days to ensuring every detail reflected the couple’s style, they crafted a celebration that felt cohesive, intentional, and completely stress-free for the couple (which, let’s be honest, is the real luxury). What made this wedding especially memorable was how deeply personal every detail felt. The Sangeet featured a tropical sunset theme inspired by the Caribbean, with guests dressed in sunset tones and entertained by Dominican folkloric and traditional Indian dancers. A Korean-Indian fusion menu honored both families, while personalized table numbers highlighted key milestones from the couple's relationship. Guests received hand-painted Dominican mugs as favors, reflecting Kimberly's heritage and the celebration's location.

The décor, designed by Mercaflor and Caribbean Celebrations, was a vibrant blend of tropical romance and traditional elegance. Think lush florals, bold color palettes, and statement setups that complemented the natural beauty of the venue without competing with it. Each event had its own personality, yet everything felt connected—like chapters in one beautifully written story.

Kimberly’s bridal looks were effortlessly radiant, enhanced by Olga Pipich’s flawless hair and makeup artistry. Whether it was a sunlit ceremony moment or a glamorous reception entrance, every look felt polished, modern, and perfectly suited to the destination vibe.

Of course, no destination wedding is complete without incredible food—and Hard Rock Punta Cana delivered a culinary experience that kept guests delighted from start to finish. Add in seamless logistics and elevated service, and it’s easy to see why this venue remains a favorite for couples dreaming of a tropical “I do.” And then… the party began.

With MVP DJs behind the music, the energy never dipped. From lively pre-wedding celebrations to a packed dance floor under glowing lights by Inspire Solutions, every night felt like a celebration within a celebration. Guests didn’t just attend—they fully immersed themselves, dancing, laughing, and creating memories that felt as vibrant as the setting itself.

Adding thoughtful touches throughout the experience were details like a chic photo booth by JJ Studios, meaningful mehndi by Henna Studio, and beautifully curated favors by Los Duenos—because it’s always the little things that guests remember most.

And behind the scenes, ensuring that every guest arrived, stayed, and experienced the celebration seamlessly was Indian Destination Wedding Inc., a Platinum Guide member known for turning destination wedding logistics into a smooth, enjoyable journey. From travel coordination to guest experience, their role is often the unsung hero of destination celebrations—and here, they delivered flawlessly.

Capturing it all with cinematic artistry was Meraki Weddings, whose storytelling brought every moment to life. Their ability to blend emotion with breathtaking visuals created a film that feels immersive, heartfelt, and undeniably beautiful—one that Kimberly & Anant will treasure for years to come.

What makes this wedding so special isn’t just the stunning location or the vibrant events—it’s the feeling it leaves behind. A celebration that felt joyful, intentional, and full of life. A reminder that weddings aren’t just about the day—they’re about the experience, the people, and the memories that follow you long after you’ve left paradise.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Anant and I first met in March 2020, when most of the world was in a COVID lockdown. We both decided to give dating apps a try since there was nowhere to go, and we all thought we'd only be stuck at home for two weeks. We started talking because we both went to the same college around the same time and soon found out we had a lot more in common. Two weeks of being stuck at home quickly turned into two months, but we got through the monotonous and dark days through our lively conversations and occasional FaceTime dates/calls. Even though we hadn't met in person yet due to the pandemic, I already felt so close to him. It was a different feeling from anyone I had met before. In May, once it was safer to meet in person, we decided to finally meet in person on a hike at a state forest near where my parents lived, since that was all we could do at the time. Once we met, the spark we felt through our previous conversations instantly came to life, and from then on, we were inseparable.

As we started introducing each other to our friends and family, we saw how effortlessly our lives blended together. Experiences became more full when we spent them together, and even the ordinary moments began to feel meaningful simply because we were sharing them side by side. Those feelings made it clear that we wanted to build a life together for the rest of our days.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Our proposal took place while we were on vacation in Italy. Since we both love hiking, we planned to spend part of our two-week trip exploring the Dolomites. After a morning hike, Anant told me he had made a reservation at a nice restaurant for dinner and suggested we dress up for the occasion.

As we drove toward dinner, we gradually left the town behind and found ourselves winding higher and higher into the mountains. After about half an hour, we arrived at a parking lot that felt like the middle of nowhere. Anant mentioned we would need to walk a bit to reach the restaurant, and I remember starting to feel anxious since we were already running late for the reservation he had given me. He seemed unusually calm and distracted, which only added to my confusion.

Then he asked if I wanted to take a few photos in a nearby field, which felt a bit unexpected given how pressed for time we seemed to be—but I agreed. We stepped into the open field, completely alone except for the breathtaking backdrop of the Italian Alps, and a photographer who I didn't notice had been hiding from a distance. Anant then got down on one knee, asked me to marry him, and the rest is history.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning our wedding was the perfect mix of fun and chaos. We were trying to find the perfect way to blend three cultures, but with a modern twist. Anant's parents are from India, my mom is from the Dominican Republic, and my dad is Korean. We wanted to make sure we could find ways to honor each culture, whether it be big or small. It had always been a dream of mine to get married on the beach in the Dominican Republic, and since I have a lot of family who live there, we thought a destination wedding would be a great option. After doing some research, we decided to go with Indian Destination Wedding as our wedding travel agency since they had amazing reviews, and we enjoyed our introductory meeting with them. Indian Destination Wedding asked us questions about the type of wedding experience we were looking for and what our dealbreakers were. It was very important to us that the hotel we pick have a lot of experience with South Asian weddings since we knew we wanted to have a Sangeet, Hindu Ceremony, Western Ceremony, and Reception. Hard Rock Punta Cana checked off all of our boxes from South Asian wedding experience, activities for our guests, modern and spacious rooms, and large event areas. For information on the local hotel vendors, I relied a lot upon our hotel wedding coordinator and a Hard Rock Punta Cana Facebook brides group where new and previous brides exchange advice. Decor was mainly inspired by Pinterest, social media, and our own personalities in order to give our events a personal twist.

Our outfits were probably one of the hardest things to coordinate. We decided we weren't going to have enough time to do wedding shopping in India and so we spent a lot of our weekends early on in the planning process going to Edison, NJ, where a lot of Indian clothing stores are, to try on different outfits and get a sense of what style and colors we preferred. Then we needed to do the same for the Western Ceremony outfits and reception. Although the process was long and we probably tried on over 100 outfits combined, we ended up with the perfect looks for our wedding events.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had never tried on a bridal lehenga before, so I went into the process with an open mind, ready to explore different colors and styles. Since I already knew I would be wearing a traditional white gown for the Western ceremony, I didn’t want to choose a white lehenga for the other events. I initially considered reds and pinks, but the reds felt a bit too deep for a beach setting, and the pinks tended to blend too closely with my skin tone.

In the end, we came across a sage green lehenga, and everything about it felt unexpectedly perfect—the color was unique, and the embroidery was beautifully detailed. It stood out in the best way, and we all instantly fell in love with it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
One of the most enjoyable parts of planning our wedding was incorporating personal touches that truly reflected who we are as a couple. For the Sangeet, we served Korean-Indian fusion cuisine as a celebration of both of our cultures. We also gifted hand-painted mugs from a local artisan near where my family lives in the Dominican Republic, each featuring traditional Dominican scenery. At our reception, we displayed wedding photos of close family members to honor the generations before us. Even our table numbers were personalized, featuring fun facts and meaningful milestones from our relationship that corresponded with each table number. It was so fun to find different ways that we could make moments during the wedding feel very personal to us.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
For a lot of my friends and family, it was the first time they had ever been to a South Asian wedding, and so many of the customs and traditions were new to them. The same applied to Anant's family, where many of them had never been to a Western Ceremony or experienced parts of Dominican culture, such as an hora loca, which is a time during the reception when props are handed out to guests, the music is heightened, and usually entertainers come out to draw people to the dance floor. Our wedding was not traditional to one culture, and so everyone was able to experience something new.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
During our Hindu ceremony, one of my favorite moments was hearing the priest explain that Anant and I would be together for seven lifetimes. I truly do feel like we were destined to meet, and the priest's words felt like a confirmation of this feeling. Standing there together, listening to the waves and looking out at all the people who had traveled from near and far to celebrate our union, felt incredibly special and surreal. During our Western ceremony, I especially loved exchanging personalized vows. We show our love for one another every day through small acts of service, but there was something deeply meaningful about hearing heartfelt, handwritten words that expressed exactly why we are each other’s person.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For our Sangeet, we chose a tropical sunset theme to complement the timing of the event, which began just as the sun was setting. We asked our guests to dress in sunset-inspired colors, which created such a vibrant and beautiful atmosphere. For this event, I decided to wear a red lehenga since I wasn’t wearing red on our wedding day. I loved this outfit because it felt like a modern fusion of Indian and Western fashion. The designer I worked with, Netri Aggarwal, was incredibly accommodating and brought my vision to life through a custom design that felt perfectly unique to me.

As this was our first wedding event, we really wanted it to feel like a warm welcome to the Dominican Republic and immerse our guests in the beauty and energy of the Caribbean. We incorporated tropical florals throughout the décor and hosted the event outdoors, which created the perfect atmosphere. My Dominican side of the family performed a traditional Dominican dance wearing authentic folkloric attire, and it was such a fun and meaningful moment to share with everyone. Anant’s side of the family also performed traditional Indian dances, which brought so much excitement and energy to the evening, especially for guests who were experiencing the music and choreography for the first time. Once the DJ opened the dance floor after the performances, no one held back. The dance floor stayed packed all night long and truly set the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
My biggest piece of advice would be to trust the process and invest in a wedding planner or travel agency, especially if you are planning a destination wedding with multiple events. Leading up to the wedding, I had a lot of anxiety because there were so many moving parts and logistics to coordinate, and it was hard to fully picture how everything would come together. However, we worked with Shaadi Factory alongside Indian Destination Wedding and our coordinator at Hard Rock Punta Cana, and they truly did an incredible job.

The people you hire are professionals, and they know how to make everything come together seamlessly. I was amazed by how smoothly each event flowed, and because of that, I was able to be fully present and truly enjoy every moment instead of worrying about small things going wrong. Being present is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself during your wedding celebrations, because the entire experience goes by so quickly.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Fate has a funny way of working—what started as a simple connection on an online app didn’t feel random at all, but more like the universe quietly aligning two paths at just the right time.

It didn’t feel random. It felt like one of those quiet moments that somehow shifts everything, like the universe just nudged two people in the same direction at the right time.

I didn’t have some dramatic, movie-style moment where everything suddenly clicked. It was quieter than that.

It was in the little things.

The way he’s so chivalrous without even trying. The way he can turn the simplest moments into something fun and memorable. The way he takes care of me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed.

He’s not just my partner—he’s my best friend. The person I laugh with the most, the one who makes everything feel lighter, no matter what kind of day it is.

We also did long distance, and I always say I wouldn’t do that for anyone else—but with him, it was worth it in every way. Like, no matter the miles, he was always worth the wait, the effort, and everything in between.

And somewhere along the way, I realized… love isn’t supposed to feel confusing. It’s supposed to feel like peace, laughter, and being truly cared for.

That’s when I knew—he was the one.

He took me to Cancun, and from the moment we got there, everything felt so intentional. The way he planned it all so thoughtfully, the little details I didn’t even realize I was noticing at the time—it all felt like pure magic.

I remember thinking how happy I was just being there with him, in a new place, making memories that already felt special on their own. Nothing felt forced or out of the ordinary… just us, soaking it all in.

Then came the moment I’ll never forget.

Somewhere beautiful, in a setting that felt almost unreal, he asked me to marry him. And suddenly, everything else faded—the noise, the surroundings, the world—and it was just him and me.

It wasn’t loud or dramatic. It was calm, emotional, and so full of love. The kind of moment where your heart already knows the answer before your mind even catches up.

Of course, I said yes.

Because in that moment, it wasn’t just a proposal—it was every little moment leading up to it, every laugh, every conversation, every bit of distance we overcame… all coming together at once.

And I’ll never forget how it felt to choose forever with him in Cancun.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always knew I wanted pink for my bridal lengha. There was something about the softness of pink that I’ve always loved—it feels feminine, romantic, and timeless in a really effortless way.

For me, it wasn’t just about the color looking beautiful, but about how it made me feel. I wanted to feel like myself on such an important day, and pink just naturally represented that soft, feminine side of me in the most perfect way.

When I was choosing my lengha, I kept coming back to that vision. I didn’t want anything that felt too heavy or overpowering—I wanted something that felt elegant, delicate, and true to who I am.

So when I finally found the one, it just felt right. It reflected exactly what I had always imagined, and I knew I wouldn’t have wanted anything else for my bridal look.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
A moment that constantly replays in my mind is walking down the aisle right after my bridal speech played.

He was standing there teary-eyed, looking at me in a way I’ll never forget—like he fully understood everything I had just said without a single word needing to be spoken. It felt so emotional and grounding at the same time.

Walking toward him in that moment felt surreal, like everything had come full circle. It wasn’t just a ceremony anymore—it felt like two lives fully choosing each other, with so much love already behind us and so much ahead.

For our events outside of the ceremony, I wanted everything to feel soft, modern, and elegant. I was really drawn to a clean and timeless vision, so I chose soft, romantic colors that created a calm and beautiful atmosphere without feeling overwhelming.

I didn’t want anything overly heavy or traditional in style—I wanted it to feel fresh, elevated, and still very “us.” Every detail was chosen with that balance in mind, from the decor to the overall mood of the events.

Each celebration felt intentional in its own way, but still flowed together beautifully as part of the same story. The dances, the energy, and the little moments with family and friends made everything feel so alive and meaningful.

Looking back, what I loved most was how everything came together so naturally. It felt elegant, modern, and full of love in the simplest, most genuine way. 

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
My biggest piece of advice for brides-to-be is not to get too caught up in the details or the pressure of making everything look “perfect.”

It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with timelines, decor choices, colors, and whether everything will come together exactly how you imagined. But on the actual day, what you’ll remember most isn’t whether every detail was flawless—it’s how you felt, and the love you were surrounded by.

Always come back to the reason you’re doing all of this. It’s not about the aesthetics or the planning stress—it’s about the beginning of your life with your husband.

Let the colors, the theme, the photos… all of it be a reflection of your love story, not the source of your stress. Because at the end of the day, the most beautiful weddings are the ones filled with genuine joy, presence, and love.

One of my favorite parts of the wedding was how all the little details came together to tell our story in such a meaningful way.

My jewelry was kept elegant, with a more modern, heavy bridal feel that still complemented the overall look. Even with its richness and detail, I wanted it to feel cohesive and in line with the soft, intentional vision of the wedding.

My mehndi was especially meaningful. I had a Maharaja and Maharani incorporated into the design, which I absolutely loved. It felt so symbolic of us—like our story was quite literally written into the details of the celebration. It made the mehndi feel even more personal and unforgettable.

For our ceremony outfits, we wanted to look like a Maharaja and Maharani from Rajasthan. It had such a regal, royal feel while still feeling modern and very true to us at the same time. I loved how it brought the perfect balance of tradition and elegance together.

The lakeside venue itself was breathtaking and already felt magical on its own, but the decor elevated it even more. I kept everything in soft tones to maintain that modern, romantic feel throughout.

From the bouquets to the cake, everything was chosen to feel simple, elegant, and intentional. Nothing felt overly done—just thoughtfully curated to reflect us.

Looking back, what I love most is how all of these details didn’t feel separate, but instead came together to create one beautiful, cohesive story that felt ours completely.
