Los Angeles, CA Indian Wedding by Balerina Films

Mehak & Bhavin’s Southern California celebration is exactly that kind of experience—a wedding that wasn’t just captured, but felt, frame by frame. From the vibrant sangeet to the sacred ceremony at BAPS Temple LA and a stunning beachfront reception at The Waterfront Beach Resort, this multi-day celebration unfolded like a cinematic love story—one that Balerina Films brought to life with movement, emotion, and storytelling that lingers long after the final scene.

Because this, Maharani brides, is a video feature—and trust us, you’re going to want to hit replay.

The festivities began with a high-energy sangeet at R Banquet, where the tone was set immediately: bold, joyful, and unapologetically celebratory. With planning and design by Preevents, every moment flowed seamlessly, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the experience.

And when the music started? It didn’t stop. DJ Fresh took over the night, delivering beats that turned the dance floor into the heartbeat of the celebration. From choreographed performances to spontaneous dance-offs, the energy was infectious—the kind of night where “just one more song” turns into hours of non-stop dancing.

Mehak’s looks throughout the weekend were nothing short of iconic. For her bridal ensemble, she wore Anita Dongre, bringing a sense of refined elegance and timeless craftsmanship to her wedding day. Her beauty looks, created by Makeup by Dina, Drea V Makeup, and Farah with the Good Hair, were flawlessly executed—each one enhancing her natural glow while complementing the distinct vibe of every event. And let's not forget about Neha Assar, who created an incredible mehndi design worth the incredible images.

Of course, no South Asian wedding is complete without unforgettable food, and Natraj delivered a culinary experience that guests won’t soon forget. Rich flavors, comforting classics, and a menu that kept everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds) made every event as delicious as it was memorable.

And that’s what makes this feature so special. From the vibrant sangeet to the sacred temple ceremony to a reception that danced into the night, Mehak & Bhavin’s wedding was a celebration of love, culture, and connection—brought to life through cinematic storytelling that will be cherished for years to come.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Some love stories begin with grand gestures. Ours began quietly with a swipe, a typo, and perfect timing.
We met the way many modern love stories do: online. When Bhavin’s profile first appeared on my screen, his name actually read “Bryan.” It was almost a miss, but something about him felt genuine and familiar. Our conversation flowed effortlessly, and what began as casual messages soon turned into something we both looked forward to each day.

From the very beginning, there was an ease between us, laughter, honesty, and a sense of comfort that didn’t need explanation. As time passed, it became clear that what we were building was more than romance. Bhavin was steady, thoughtful, and deeply supportive, the kind of partner who feels like home. We grew together through shared values, everyday moments, and a bond rooted in trust and friendship.

When Bhavin proposed, it felt less like a surprise and more like a natural continuation of a journey that had always felt aligned. What began with a simple swipe and a miswritten name had quietly grown into a love filled with intention, patience, and partnership.

During our wedding ceremony, one moment captured the essence of everything we believe marriage to be. We touched each other’s feet, a ritual traditionally symbolic of respect and humility. But for us, it held a deeper meaning. It was a mutual gesture, an unspoken promise that there would be no hierarchy between us. Only equality, gratitude, and reverence. In that moment, we honored not just tradition, but each other, choosing to bow not out of obligation, but out of love.

Today, as husband and wife, we carry that same quiet certainty forward — grateful that our story began in the most modern of ways, yet led us to something timeless, sacred, and deeply rooted in respect.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
We wanted to create something that felt intentional and deeply meaningful rather than just visually beautiful. The inspiration behind our Singapore mandap was rooted in the idea of welcome a space where every guest felt embraced, united, and genuinely happy to be together. While aesthetics naturally mattered, our true focus was on creating an atmosphere filled with warmth, love, and connection. During this time, I was balancing two jobs, and we had just welcomed a new puppy into our lives, making the planning process one of the most demanding seasons we’ve experienced yet, also one of the most rewarding. Bhavin was deeply involved every step of the way, thoughtfully supporting and shaping our vision alongside me. My mother-in-law and father-in-law were equally involved, with countless conversations and shared excitement as we brought the details to life together. Meanwhile, my parents stood firmly behind us, ensuring that any support we needed, emotional or financial, was given wholeheartedly.

Maharanis, if you’ve ever wondered whether wedding videography is worth it, let this be your answer.

Jefferson, NC Stylized Shoot by Nathan Rivers Chesky Photography

Every once in a while, a stylized shoot comes along that doesn’t just inspire—it completely redefines how we imagine a wedding. This editorial at Twickenham House & Hall is exactly that: a masterclass in blending architectural grandeur, modern romance, and South Asian-inspired elegance into one unforgettable visual story.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Twickenham House & Hall, this styled shoot feels like stepping into a dream. With its sweeping mountain views, refined stone architecture, and expansive interiors, the venue offers a canvas that effortlessly balances intimacy with scale. It’s the kind of space that doesn’t compete with design—it elevates it.

Conceptualized and executed by Leigh Powers for Twickenham House Events, the shoot was thoughtfully designed to showcase how Indian wedding aesthetics can seamlessly integrate into a contemporary Western venue. The result? A visual narrative that feels editorial, elevated, and refreshingly modern.

From the ceremony setup to the reception styling, every element was curated with intention. The ceremony space was designed to feel both sacred and architectural. Rather than overwhelming the setting, the design embraced the venue’s natural beauty, allowing the structure and surroundings to play a central role. It’s a reminder that sometimes, restraint is the ultimate luxury. The reception concept leaned into understated sophistication. Thoughtful tablescapes, layered textures, and soft lighting created an atmosphere that felt intimate yet undeniably refined. It’s the kind of setting where every detail invites a closer look—where simplicity becomes the statement.

Captured through the lens of Nathan Rivers Chesky Photography & Film, the entire shoot feels cinematic and editorial. His approach blends storytelling with fine art, creating images that feel less like documentation and more like a curated fashion narrative. Every frame highlights movement, light, and emotion, offering a fresh perspective on what South Asian wedding inspiration can look like in a non-traditional setting. What makes this styled shoot particularly compelling is its versatility. It speaks to couples who want to honor cultural elements while embracing a modern, destination-inspired aesthetic. It proves that Indian wedding design isn’t confined to a specific palette or structure—it can evolve, adapt, and thrive in any setting.

Maharani brides, if you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels elevated, editorial, and uniquely your own, this styled shoot is your inspiration board brought to life. Whether you’re planning a destination celebration, a fusion wedding, or simply want to explore a more minimalist approach to traditional design, this concept shows that less can truly be more.

Dallas, TX Indian Wedding by Hannah Hix

Say hello to wedding goals: Yarlini & Nishith’s big day is featured on the Platinum Guide Blog!

photo #441170

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Nishith and I met in medical school in Dallas; I was a third-year student, and he was a first-year student. We were a part of the same volunteer organization, preparing for the annual health fair. We were assigned separate booths to work on for the fair, but at the first meeting, Nishith moseyed over to my work station to help. We worked together over the next hour, and at the end of the meeting, we made great progress. Nishith said, "We should hang out sometime", and the rest was history.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Six years after we met, Nishith gathered my friends (who had been through undergrad and medical school with me, a second family) and surprised me at a scenic park in Dallas, the city where we met and trained. He calmly asked me to marry him, I said yes, and everyone appeared. To have my friends nearby for such a milestone in my life is something Nishith knew would be very important to me.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
About one year in advance, we decided with the size and extent of our wedding, it would be best to hire a wedding planner, and working with Rama Bhat was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. With our history of meeting and training in Dallas, we knew that Dallas was the city of choice. Throughout the wedding process, from venues to decor themes to hair & make-up to food (very importantly), Rama provided our families and us with options, and we would sort through them together. We were able to land on the Dallas Renaissance Hotel, which had a rooftop area with Dallas skyline views for our welcome party, followed by large grand ballrooms to accommodate the full extent of our guests for the wedding and reception. Dallas provides a large assortment of sizable hotels as well as a variety of South Asian food options and multiple South Asian make-up & hair artists, DJs, and photographers/videographers. The decisions were difficult at times with the plethora of options, but our families were great about coming together to support our decisions along with guidance from Rama.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My family is originally Sri Lankan Tamil, which sparked my inspiration to look for a traditional bridal look. We were able to find a deep red saree with extensive yet subtle gold embroidery for an overall rich and traditional look. I was fortunate to find Savita Shanthakumar, a Sri Lankan make-up and hair artist in the Dallas area, who was able to provide beautiful modern make-up with the traditional braid to compliment the full look.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
As Nishith and I were living in different cities in the US during the year of our wedding (due to where our medical training took each of us), the most enjoyable parts of the planning process were the weekends we could meet in Dallas with both of our families to make decisions together and in-person. This was particularly enjoyable for the food and cake tastings as well as the decor and picking out flowers and colors. We both appreciated the immense support we received from our families and friends (our second families).

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food, both the quality of the food and the availability of food throughout the wedding events. Our incredible caterers included Mughlai for a fusion mix of snack foods, juices, and a chai cart, Ananda Bhavan (A2B) for a traditional vegetarian South Asian meal after the wedding, and Bawarchi for a rich dinner with multiple delicious options during the reception (the goat and paneer curries were a huge hit).

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There are two great moments that come to mind. During the cocktail hour, while the guests were mingling, Nishith and I got a chance to sit down on our own and eat some of the cocktail hour items (brought to us by our wedding planner) together. It was a nice moment to slow down before walking into the grand reception. The second, and probably my favorite, was when Nishith was tying the thaali, and I could see all of our cousins, aunts, and uncles from both sides of the families in the front rows standing up and cheering for us with the Ketti Melam music in the background.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Two biggest pieces of advice. Firstly, the planning is a team sport - ask for help/delegate (There will be lots of to-dos and small tasks that pile up, especially closer to the wedding time. Ask trusted family members and friends to help carry some of the weight; it will bring you peace of mind, and more people than you realize are happy to help. No task is too small to ask for help. Secondly, as much as people say this, it's true - enjoy the process, knowing the stressful parts will pass and be worth it. It's a unique time in your life and it'll fly.

Irving, TX Fusion Wedding by Epique Cinema

Some weddings are elegant, some are energetic—and then there are weddings like Payal & Vivek’s that somehow manage to be both at the same time. A celebration where every moment feels intentional, every detail feels elevated, and every guest leaves saying, “Wait… can we do that again?”

Set at the stylish Marriott Dallas Las Colinas, this Texas celebration had all the ingredients of a classic South Asian wedding—just with a modern, high-energy twist. From the very beginning, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be your average wedding weekend. This was a production… and we mean that in the best way possible.

Behind the scenes (and very much in front when it mattered) was Events by Rama, whose expertise in South Asian weddings ensured every event flowed seamlessly. From coordinating timelines to managing transitions between ceremony and reception, their team created an experience that felt effortless for guests—and we all know that takes serious work behind the scenes. Divine Decor transformed the venue into a space that felt both grand and inviting. From ceremony setups to reception ambiance, every detail was thoughtfully curated.

Payal was the definition of a modern Maharani—radiant, confident, and absolutely glowing. Her glam by Makeup by Sowmya was flawless from start to finish, enhancing her natural beauty while holding up through every emotional moment, every photo, and yes… every dance floor appearance (because we know there were many).

DJ Jazz Entertainment understood the assignment. From the first beat drop to the final song of the night, the energy stayed high, the crowd stayed moving, and the vibe stayed unforgettable. You know it’s a good wedding when people don’t want to leave the dance floor—and this was definitely one of those nights. From sleek lines to undeniable presence, MTB Exotics added a bold and sophisticated touch to Payal & Vivek’s celebration.

But what truly ties everything together is the storytelling—and that’s where Epique Cinema shines. As both the photography and cinematography team, Epique Cinema didn’t just document the wedding—they crafted it into a visual experience. Their style blends cinematic storytelling with emotional authenticity, capturing everything from the grand moments to the quiet, fleeting ones in between. The result? A wedding that doesn’t just live in memory—it lives in motion, in frames, in feeling.

What makes Payal & Vivek’s wedding so special isn’t just the luxury details or the high-energy moments—it’s the way everything comes together to reflect them. Their style, their personality, their love story. It’s a celebration that feels personal, vibrant, and completely unforgettable.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Fate has a funny way of working—what started as a simple connection on an online app didn’t feel random at all, but more like the universe quietly aligning two paths at just the right time.

It didn’t feel random. It felt like one of those quiet moments that somehow shifts everything, like the universe just nudged two people in the same direction at the right time.

I didn’t have some dramatic, movie-style moment where everything suddenly clicked. It was quieter than that.

It was in the little things.

The way he’s so chivalrous without even trying. The way he can turn the simplest moments into something fun and memorable. The way he takes care of me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed.

He’s not just my partner—he’s my best friend. The person I laugh with the most, the one who makes everything feel lighter, no matter what kind of day it is.

We also did long distance, and I always say I wouldn’t do that for anyone else—but with him, it was worth it in every way. Like, no matter the miles, he was always worth the wait, the effort, and everything in between.

And somewhere along the way, I realized… love isn’t supposed to feel confusing. It’s supposed to feel like peace, laughter, and being truly cared for.

That’s when I knew—he was the one.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
What I thought was just our first international trip together turned out to be the beginning of forever.

He took me to Cancun, and from the moment we got there, everything felt so intentional. The way he planned it all so thoughtfully, the little details I didn’t even realize I was noticing at the time—it all felt like pure magic.

I remember thinking how happy I was just being there with him, in a new place, making memories that already felt special on their own. Nothing felt forced or out of the ordinary… just us, soaking it all in.

Then came the moment I’ll never forget.

Somewhere beautiful, in a setting that felt almost unreal, he asked me to marry him. And suddenly, everything else faded—the noise, the surroundings, the world—and it was just him and me.

It wasn’t loud or dramatic. It was calm, emotional, and so full of love. The kind of moment where your heart already knows the answer before your mind even catches up.

Of course, I said yes.

Because in that moment, it wasn’t just a proposal—it was every little moment leading up to it, every laugh, every conversation, every bit of distance we overcame… all coming together at once.

And I’ll never forget how it felt to choose forever with him in Cancun.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always knew I wanted pink for my bridal lengha. There was something about the softness of pink that I’ve always loved—it feels feminine, romantic, and timeless in a really effortless way.

For me, it wasn’t just about the color looking beautiful, but about how it made me feel. I wanted to feel like myself on such an important day, and pink just naturally represented that soft, feminine side of me in the most perfect way.

When I was choosing my lengha, I kept coming back to that vision. I didn’t want anything that felt too heavy or overpowering—I wanted something that felt elegant, delicate, and true to who I am.

So when I finally found the one, it just felt right. It reflected exactly what I had always imagined, and I knew I wouldn’t have wanted anything else for my bridal look.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
A moment that constantly replays in my mind is walking down the aisle right after my bridal speech played.

In that speech, I shared how special he is to me and everything he means in my life. And right after that, I remember stepping into the aisle and seeing him.

He was standing there teary-eyed, looking at me in a way I’ll never forget—like he fully understood everything I had just said without a single word needing to be spoken. It felt so emotional and grounding at the same time.

Walking toward him in that moment felt surreal, like everything had come full circle. It wasn’t just a ceremony anymore—it felt like two lives fully choosing each other, with so much love already behind us and so much ahead.

I’ll never forget the feeling of knowing, in that exact moment, that he was my forever.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For our events outside of the ceremony, I wanted everything to feel soft, modern, and elegant. I was really drawn to a clean and timeless vision, so I chose soft, romantic colors that created a calm and beautiful atmosphere without feeling overwhelming.

I didn’t want anything overly heavy or traditional in style—I wanted it to feel fresh, elevated, and still very “us.” Every detail was chosen with that balance in mind, from the decor to the overall mood of the events.

Each celebration felt intentional in its own way, but still flowed together beautifully as part of the same story. The dances, the energy, and the little moments with family and friends made everything feel so alive and meaningful.

Looking back, what I loved most was how everything came together so naturally. It felt elegant, modern, and full of love in the simplest, most genuine way.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
My biggest piece of advice for brides-to-be is not to get too caught up in the details or the pressure of making everything look “perfect.”

It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with timelines, decor choices, colors, and whether everything will come together exactly how you imagined. But on the actual day, what you’ll remember most isn’t whether every detail was flawless—it’s how you felt, and the love you were surrounded by.

Always come back to the reason you’re doing all of this. It’s not about the aesthetics or the planning stress—it’s about the beginning of your life with your husband.

Let the colors, the theme, the photos… all of it be a reflection of your love story, not the source of your stress. Because at the end of the day, the most beautiful weddings are the ones filled with genuine joy, presence, and love.✨

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
One of my favorite parts of the wedding was how all the little details came together to tell our story in such a meaningful way.

My jewelry was kept elegant, with a more modern, heavy bridal feel that still complemented the overall look. Even with its richness and detail, I wanted it to feel cohesive and in line with the soft, intentional vision of the wedding.

My mehndi was especially meaningful. I had a Maharaja and Maharani incorporated into the design, which I absolutely loved. It felt so symbolic of us—like our story was quite literally written into the details of the celebration. It made the mehndi feel even more personal and unforgettable.

For our ceremony outfits, we wanted to look like a Maharaja and Maharani from Rajasthan. It had such a regal, royal feel while still feeling modern and very true to us at the same time. I loved how it brought the perfect balance of tradition and elegance together.

The lakeside venue itself was breathtaking and already felt magical on its own, but the decor elevated it even more. I kept everything in soft tones to maintain that modern, romantic feel throughout.

From the bouquets to the cake, everything was chosen to feel simple, elegant, and intentional. Nothing felt overly done—just thoughtfully curated to reflect us.

Looking back, what I love most is how all of these details didn’t feel separate, but instead came together to create one beautiful, cohesive story that felt ours completely.

Trust your vendor team. And don’t be afraid of a grand wedding that everyone will talk about.
