How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
For my bridal lengha, the plan actually was for my mom and dad to go to India and shop for me because I did not have enough PTO to go myself. I decided to go to Edison, NJ, with my now husband and parents to just try some things on to see what I like about myself the night before my parents were going to leave for India. I ended up picking the one while I was there in Mississippi. India! I wasn’t sure it was the one, but then my husband told me he started crying seeing me in it - so I knew it was the one.
For my Christian ceremony gown, I went to David’s Bridal with my now mother-in-law, mom, and now sister-in-law. Both my mom and my sister-in-law drove over 2 hours to get there, and I ended up picking the first gown I put on within 5 minutes! I was so emotional, and I just knew it was the one.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
We received a lot of similar comments after the wedding, and it was mainly that everyone could feel the love in the room. Both families and cultures mixed so beautifully with each other. Many people actually said they loved the very early morning breakfast we had that was informal every day, because they got a chance to really get to know people from both sides and meet everyone! And ofcourse - everyone loved the food!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
One of the special moments of our wedding was our vows during our Christian ceremony. I think many people from my family have never heard personal vows being said, and I think our vows really allowed our entire family and our friends to understand how much my husband and I love each other. It added so much to the weekend, and as scary as it was to be vulnerable up there, pouring my heart out in front of everyone, I think it resonated with anybody there who has ever felt loved by someone.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The sangeet night- mainly garba was so special to us. We could see pure enjoyment and union between our two families. Some of the first people on the dance floor were people from my husband's side who had never been to a garba before! Throughout the night, I could see people from my family helping my husband's family members learn how to garba. Everyone was so excited to join in, and it was so, so fun! Even on the open dance floor afterwards, you could see that our families were already blending together and having the best time. It was so special.
