There is just something so beautiful about fusion Indian weddings. I can’t decide if it is the union of two very different cultures, or to see a Maharani and Maharaja donning clothes that is not familiar to their upbringing, or the fact that two individuals from different parts of the world fell in love; I just can’t decide! Such is the love between Akanksha and Justin who took their relationship to their next level and honored Akanksha’s Indian upbringing into their big day. On the day of her wedding Karina Morena was brought on to spearhead the task of styling the bride. And elegant updo and burgundy lips was the final consensus for her big reveal. A trendy, emerging trend coming from South Asian weddings are brides who wear hot pink on their big day. Akanksha's bridal wear was embellished with silk thread embroidery that was a flattering yet stylish bridal piece purchased from Taj Sari Palace. One of the most precious moments  of the day had to be the first look. Justin had little hearts in his eyes as he turned to see his Maharani all glammed out! Justin was dapper in a gold and burgundy silk sherwani complete with a customary turban. Inside The Rockford Radisson, Elegance Decor had designed a red and white draped mandap with a single hanging chandelier for the perfect touch of class. After the ceremony commenced, guests dined on delicious Indian cuisine catered by Uru Swati. Darshana Rajput of Dars Photography has curated a wonderful set of images that can be found hanging out in the gallery.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Justin at work. We became great friends and that friendship led to love. I knew he was the one for me because of the way he made me feel and how he treated me. Justin is the most genuine and sweet person. He loves me for who I am, and it does not get better than that!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Justin is a teacher by day and a poet/rapper by night. He proposed to me at his album release party. I had no idea he was going to make a special day for him into the beginning of our journey together as a couple. Justin brought me up on stage at the end of the night and rapped a song to me and asked me to marry him.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Justin and I had known each other for a long time so after the proposal we wanted to have the wedding relatively quickly. We also wanted to host the wedding in Rockford, IL because our family and friends are here, but since there aren't many Indian vendors in the area it was a bit challenging. We began to tap into our social connections as well as doing research. Our overall experience with our vendors was great! Despite the challenges presented by the geographic and time constraints we had a beautiful wedding! It was memorable for us as well as our family and friends.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There are 2 moments specifically that stand out more than others. The first was my husband rapping a song to me that he wrote for our wedding day, it was called "2 Love You." The second was my brother who made a video of a mock interview with my all-time favorite bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit!!! He was asking her question about our marriage and he edited it to make it appear as though she was talking about us.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The one part that stood out for my husband and our guests was the baraat. Even though many of our guests had not experienced a baraat before, people were really excited to participate in it. Everyone had a lot of fun dancing and it was a great beginning to our special day! As far as the wedding decor, it was what I wanted; modern and elegant. My make-up, hair, jewelry, and bridal lengha came together perfectly for my special day!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
