Maharani Shazia and her Maharaja Hisham met like many other couples do, through the power of the internet love waves. As Shazia relayed her love mementos to Maharani Weddings, we could not help but think how adorable her voice carried through onto text. This love affair is one that was meant to be, and Shazia knew of this discovery the moment she laid her eyes on her future husband. The couple married at the San Jose Marriott with the venue decorated by Milaap Events. As you can tell, the couple share a special relationship and I couldn't help but laugh at the bride pushing her beau in the birdcage luggage cart. This Maharani donned an elegant soft pink lengha adorned with silver sequins designed by a local designer in LA, and her bridal look was completed with makeup by Joe Rivera. Shazia's sophisticated updo was pinned to perfection by Hair by Anaa K. Guests enjoyed traditional Afghan food such as aush soup and bolani from Salang Pass Restaurant. The photographer for the evening was none other than Naveed Ahmad Photography. Take a gander into the gallery for more photos from this Indian wedding and read on for our interview with this Maharani!

How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?

I met my husband online, not the most romantic way two people can meet, but, for us it worked. We met in January and by the end of the year we were married. We told each other the 3 special words (I love you) on our third date. Nothing with us was slow, it was a whirlwind of love, laughter and happiness. My Prince Charming and I did not waste any time in starting our fairytale and I am so glad we didn't!

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?

Our wedding inspiration came from the fact that I've always loved simple elegance. And with a December wedding we wanted something with a warm winter feeling that was cozy and elegant at the same time. Hence the golds and blush tones from our decor to even my dress. With those colors in mind we were able to pick a beautiful stage setup done by Milaap Events with pops of color in our floral arrangements. With the warm winter wonderland in mind we were able to create our beautiful special day!

How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?

It was the first bridal outfit I tried on when starting my wedding shopping. I put it on and felt like a bride, anything after that was not comparable. I was able to get my bridal outfit from a designer in Los Angeles and she was able to adjust it to my desires perfectly!

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?

There were two moments that stood out to me that I will never forget. The first was the feeling of realizing I was married to the man of my dreams and I was walking into a hall full of our family and friends with him. It was a surreal moment that didn't seem to be happening to me. It was amazing. The second was seeing my husband give a speech to his mother and inviting her for a surprise mother son dance. The surprise on her face is something I will never be able to forget. It was a moment that made everyone teary eyed and full of love, it was absolutely beautiful!

How about hair and makeup? Did you already have a style in mind or did you work with a specialist to find your perfect look?

My makeup was done by Joe Joe from San Ramon. He was perfect and knew exactly what I wanted as he did my engagement, engagement shoot and finally my wedding makeup. I knew what I wanted and so did Joe and it was perfect. As for hair, Anaa K is an artist in her own right and I trusted her to do what would look best for my look. I let her know what I wanted in the front and she took care of the rest!

Make sure you return to see all the fine, intricate details of this wedding ceremony that just may help you plan your special day!
