Film-y Friday Kickoff with Robles Video

Happy Friday everyone!  We are kicking off the day with a bride who is close to our heart.  Our very own, Bollywood Rani!  Sejal and Sarthak got married a few months ago in sunny Southern California.  This make up diva/bride designed her wedding look, but called on the amazingly talented Oscar, of Ziba Beauty to bring out the Maharani within.  Refill you coffee and cozy up as so you can watch these highlights by Robles Video.

Featured Indian Wedding : Bindu & Vishal Finale!

So, you if you are debating about whether you actually need lighting or not for your reception, I think that your answer will be crystal clear very, very shortly.  I was blown away by this décor, and I didn’ t even notice the flowers.  The lighting is opulent, magical, and completely transforms the ballroom into the perfect place for our Maharani to dance the night away!  If you are using a location that has been popular in your community, this wedding will show you how you can completely make it your own.

 

 

 

Final words from the new MRS!

After the ceremony, our guests headed to The Pennsylvanian for cocktails. Vishal and I joined our guests after a wardrobe change for a night of fabulous food, dancing and fun. We build a square bar where 8 bartenders could serve our 350 guests with ease. Our dinner tables were draped with a crushed antique gold linen and our table accents were brown satin. We had both tall and short flower arrangements which consisted of hot pink roses, pink and green hydrangeas, tulips, pink and cymbidium orchids, curly willow branches, and tea lights hung from swarovski crystal candleholders. Our lighting was a combination 

of plum and amber colours which created a very rich and romantic setting for our reception. Our cake was a cream base with a green mehendi- inspired design, topped with golden fondant balls overflowing the layers of the cake.

We worked with our photographers and lighting team to build a model-like photoshoot area - complete with a white backdrop and professional flash lighting for our guests to take self-portraits by using a remote control. This was a fun way for our guests to capture their photos and encourage them to visit the dance floor.

April 10th, 2010 was the perfect day for Vishal and I. It was truly our perfect wedding and could not have been possible without our families and our fantastic vendors.

We were looking for venues with beautiful architecture, prestige and  most importantly - the flexibility to allow us to use our creativity to plan the wedding of our dreams. We landed on the Omni William Penn Hotel as our host hotel. This was also the location for our Welcome Reception on Fri, and our Bhaarat and wedding ceremony on Saturday. 

We wanted a change of location for our reception and were thrilled to find The Pennsylvanian. The Pennsylvanian is an old, converted railroad station that is now used as an event space. It was the perfect mix of gorgeous architecture and modern appeal that we were looking for, and allowed us the flexibility in selecting everything including our caterer, lighting, chairs, tables, linens and florals.

For Friday night's decor, a soft amber-coloured lighting illuminated the unique gold paintings that covered the ceiling at the Urban Room in the Omni William Penn Hotel. The tables were covered with white linens, red rose petals and white morracan candlabras. The event allowed our out of town guests and relatives to meet each other (some for the first time) and enjoy a variety of indian foods and fine wine. Our parents, and other family members took the mic and the night ended with a fairytale slide show that was created by two of our cousins.

 

Saturday was a gorgeous spring day! In true Indian style, Vishal entered on a white horse and danced down the streets of Pittsburgh with his family and friends. The ceremony was conducted by Vishal's great uncle and was very true to our individual style.

Featured Indian Wedding : Bindu & Vishal

There are all different types of Indian brides : traditional, modern, bohemian, and in the case of our fair madam of today, glamorous! Bindu & Vishal tied the knot in high style last spring in the bride’s hometown of Pittsburg, PA.  There is tons of eye candy in this celebration from the swarovski crystal candleholders to the bride’s sparkling Jimmy Choo shoes. So, who did our queen choose to capture her wedding?  Z Media Photography, of course!

   

From our glamourous bride : 

We met on Aug. 8th, 2008 on a blind date in NYC. Exactly one year  later, on Aug. 8th, 2009 Vishal asked me to spend the rest of my life  with him. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA while Vishal's parents  lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. We went back and forth on where to have the wedding...one day our hearts were set on a smaller outdoor wedding in Napa Valley, and another day we leaned towards a grand Indian wedding in Pittsburgh. After much debate, we decided that we wanted to have the party of a lifetime and picked my hometown as the destination to host our wedding. A decision I will never regret...

We have an action packed schedule today….More goodies on the way!

Today’s South Indian wedding completes the full circle of South Asian Weddings that we feature on Maharani.  It is loaded with charm and outfitted from head to toe with traditional details. And, has a romantic vibe that is simple and sweet.  So, whether it is a modern Indian fusion wedding we are showcasing, or a classic South Indian wedding, all the weddings that we feature have that Maharani-ness to them.
