HELLO MAHARANIS!

Yep, it’s finally here, the new, fresh look of Maharani Weddings, and we did it all for YOU.  Our beloved readers are modern, hip, stylish Indian brides and we have come up with a look & feel better tailored to suit you.  My team and I have been working our tails off since January to make it this vision come to life, and finally today has arrived.

So, it’s a funny thing that today, of all days, we launch the new site.  After months of hard work, adding awesome features, and making sure the new design was up to Maharani snuff, the site launches on what happens to be my birthday.  It’s actually the best present in the whole wide world.  Maharani Weddings moves closer to my dreams for our little company, and like my Dad says, “The best presents are the ones you get for yourself.”

I want to say big thank you to all our Maharani teammates (Anand, Angie, Natalie, Alia, Jennifer, Will, Kalah) and our Maharani family (Mom, Dad, Ronak, Rindha, Rocco, Michele, Saman, Ray, Sachi) for your support, creative feedback, and long hours of dedicated work.  Without this each and every member of this amazing team of people, the new Maharani Weddings would not be possible. So, take a twirl around the new site, and I’ll be back in a bit to show you some of my favorite features!

Before we wrap it up for the day, and I head out to my anniversary date {YIPEE!}, we have this casually chic reception from Casa Real at Ruby Hill.  A charming little idea from American weddings that has really caught my fancy these days is having a mid-morning wedding and then some lawn games like croquet.   While I can’t really visualize sari clad ladies in mega high heels getting their game on, I do absolutely adore this cocktail hour with games like pool, chess, and foosball.  If you are trying to create a breezy atmosphere at your Indian wedding, nothing is better to break the ice than to have some “brides” vs. “grooms” competition.

All I can think of today is my own wedding day, and I have already watched my same day edit four times.  People often ask me if there is anything I would change about my Indian wedding, and I always answer, “Absolutely not.”  I have very fond memories of my wedding from start to finish, and I don’t want to taint any of those beautiful images with unchangeable what ifs.  One traditional detail I omitted from my wedding, but am a huge, let me say, HUGE, fan of are dholis.  Hands down, it’s the most Maharani-esque way to make a show-stopping entrance.

Lovely!  And, I love the way this dholi isn't overly decorated with flowers & fabric.  It's clean and simple, so the focus is on the lady of the hour, the Maharani!

Hopeless romantics, grab a tissue!  Actually, grab the whole box because when you see this bride's gorgeous dholi, the water works are bound to start.  Captured by Andrew Adams photography, it is a traditional meets modern masterpiece all the way down to the bride's bun.  I have a predicition that there won't be a dry eye in the house!
