If you are just joining us today, we are unveiling Maharani’s 2011 Top 5 Honeymoon Destinations on a Budget. Coming in second place is…

Namibia

With African Safaris costing in the tens of thousands of dollars, outdoorsy Maharanis should check out Namibia. Set along Africia’s South Atlantic, Namibia is home to some of the world’s grandest national parks. Animal lovers will not want to miss Etosha National park, which is home to hundreds of different species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. And, beach lovers will have a hard time leaving, Namibia’s most popular holiday destination, Swakopmund. This seaside resort is often described as more German than Germany, and is the adventure sport capital of Nambia. With excellent midrange hotels options for around $80 dollars a day, it is no wonder, Namibia brings so many South Africans year after year.  After all, locals always know best!

The economy is not being cooperative these days, but that doesn’t mean that your dream honeymoon won’t come to life. The Maharani gals and I pulled together our top 5 picks for affordable honeymoon destinations for 2011, and I think that you will be tickled by all the choices.  From fabulous food, breathtaking views, and once in a lifetime experiences, you won’t even believe your eyes. First up :

Nicaragua

Known for it’s rich culture, silky sand beaches, and live music, Nicaragua is a top choice for Maharanis looking for a honeymoon that offers a plethora of activities.  Not to be missed are the Corn Islands, musical colonies of Leon and Granada, and hiking up the gorgeous volcano, Isla De Ometepe.  The best part of going to Nicaragua is that food and lodging are approximately $100 US Dollars per day, so it is easy to be a Maharani on a budget!
