If you ask me what my favorite meal of the day is, the answer is always DESSERT!  So, when I found out that these two lovebirds dedicated a ton of creative energy to their wedding cake, I instantly fell in love with them.   Maharani Priya and her Raja, Chirag, actually met as dance partners in a cultural show at the University of Michigan.  Is that straight out of a modern Bollywood movie or what?! University of Michigan was so, so, SO special to them that they wanted local hot spots incorporated into their dessert design. One of their favorite places to watch movies was the Michigan Theater, so they commissioned the Food Network Challenge cake competitor, Courtney Clark of Cake Nouveau, who created a replica of the theater!

From Maharani Priya :

Our deserts were picked flavor by flavor and decorated to the theme of Ann Arbor Michigan, as we met as dance partners in an Indian cultural show at the University of Michigan.  Three memorabilia cakes were designed, one a replica of the Michigan theater, the second a replica of our first lunch date at “China Gate” restaurant, and the third, a maize and blue “M” to top off the spirited table.

Personal touches are the easiest way to make your Indian wedding stand out from the crowd.  More coming right up!

If you loved to play with Barbies growing up you are going to adore this idea! I just about fell out of my chair when I saw this Indian wedding cake topper.  Seriously, it might be the CUTEST thing I have seen in a while, and I am a little bummed I didn’t have one at my own wedding.  This replica of our couple matches them perfectly, right down to the bright, blue reception sari.

There are resolutions flying around this week and at the top of everyone's list is diet & exercise.  So, take a minute to enjoy this delicious, calorie free wedding cake.  An interesting spin on the traditional round wedding cake, square cakes add a modern, elegant edge to any reception.  The key to remember with a square wedding cake is less decoration is always more!

We are going to end the day with some adorable details and a wedding cake that will make your heart sing.  It is one of those cakes that is almost too beautiful to eat!  I love the gold, elephant accents, and the red roses.  Nothing screams romance louder than a bunch of red roses.

Ulka and Chris had a lovely summer afternoon wedding at a winery in St Helena.  They started the day at this amazing vacation rental home in St Helena that Ulka had rented for the family. This place was amazing, with many bedrooms, beautiful decor, and even its very own vineyard. After Ulka was ready, she greeted Chris at Charles Krug Winery and they took all their family photos prior to the ceremony, so they could relax and enjoy some downtime after the ceremony.  Ulka was a gorgeous bride! She wore red and gold for the ceremony, then later both she and Chris changed into ivory and gold for the reception.  Chris made a grand entrance on a white horse while friends and family cheered him on.  Charles Krug Winery is a gorgeous venue to hold your wedding celebration. There is a carriage house, which has a very rustic feel to the downstairs (think “barn”) and upstairs is a lovely wood paneled room with high ceilings for the reception.  Ulka had red and orange lanterns hanging from the trees. Immediately after the ceremony, guests were treated to raspberry champagne cocktails.  All the decor and coordination was taken care of by Floramor and they did an amazing job. The tall centerpieces featured lots of reds and oranges, and the vases contained another display of roses and lilies on the inside.  The reception room upstairs has peaked ceilings and big rustic chandeliers. The best part is that each side of the room has a veranda that opens up, allowing a fresh breeze and a gorgeous view of the property.

Congratulations to the lovely couple!
