New Orleans, LA Indian Wedding by Amanda Weir Photography

Happy Wednesday Maharanis! We’re going to make you go gaga with Mahitha and Pavan’s sensational reception shindig at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. The gorgeous bride told us, Pavan and I met in the Caribbean while we went to med school in Dominica, and then he proposed to me on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Because of that, it was my dream to have a destination wedding on an island. However, our families really wanted to have a domestic wedding so it would be easier for our guests. So instead, I decided to make the theme of wedding tropical. I knew I wanted palm leaves and pineapples to be part of the decor!” They assembled the perfect team to pull off their vision. The Storybook Event orchestrated this splendid event in collaboration with the floral and decor team from Rao Factor. Together they showed us that tropical blooms, twinkling fairy lights, and soft uplighting creates the most mesmerizing ambiance ever. The tablescapes featured magnificent candelabras, floating candles, and blooms, and together with the multicolored luminescence, it was sheer decadence. DJ Desi Junction ensured a packed dance floor with the DJ doing what he does best. From the pictures of the dance floor, it seems like the crowd went delirious and we cannot wait to catch the live action film by Dyle Films. This soiree was photographed by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography, and you can enjoy all the pics in our full gallery! And make sure to scroll below and read our exclusive interview with Maharani Mahitha.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

This was written from the perspective of my husband: “Our story began on the tiny majestic island of Dominica. As eager medical students, we were both new to the island and ready to drown in our textbooks. We were both in line in a coffee shop on a hot sunny day. Mahitha, being practical, ordered an iced praline coffee. I, on the other hand, ordered a scalding hot double espresso for the infernal temperatures outside. She immediately questioned my choice of beverage. Lucky she did, because we started talking from there. I learned that she was homesick and missing her best friends and family. She learned that I was constantly hungry and always looking for food. After talking for a few weeks, I finally mustered the courage to ask her out on a date. We went to a seafood dinner on the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. At that moment, I knew there was something special between us.”

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Over Facetime! Being in my first year of residency, it was really hard to find time to go to India to go shopping for my wedding clothes. So my parents went to India instead of me. My mom went to numerous stores in Hyderabad, India; however, no-one would let her take pictures. So I would wake up at 5 AM to my mom Facetiming me from stores. The quality of our Facetime was so awful so in the end I picked my outfits via blurry images of on Facetime and with the help of my mom and grandma's good taste. It worked out really well. I loved all my outfits!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

The non-stop dancing! DJ Chani was an excellent DJ and dhol player. He kept the tempo for all of the events. We danced late into the night both Friday and Saturday night. Not only that, we had very energetic friends and family so the whole weekend just felt like one big dance party. Although, I didn't get to see it live, I know Pavan's favorite part about the weekend was the Baraat. He danced his way into the ceremony Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

At the end of the Reception around 1 AM, our closest friends were still dancing the night away. When the last song played, all of our friends gathered around Pavan and me, and joined in a massive group hug encircling us. The love we felt in that moment was truly amazing.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

New Orleans, LA Indian Wedding by Amanda Weir Photography

We’re head over heels for Mahitha and Pavan’s ceremony at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Each capture by Amanda Weir Photography was bursting with vibrancy and romance. This wedding featured one of our very favorite mandaps to date, a domed, gazebo esque creation festooned with tropical blooms and fairy lights. We’re swooning! Kudos to the floral and decor aficionados from Rao Factor and planning mavens from The Storybook Event for whipping up such marvelous ambiance. The rest of the spacious quarters were doused in rose petals, tantalizing floral arrangements, and dreamy uplighting. Pavan kicked off his crazy baraat that was definitely a highlight of the weekend. The most fabulous moment had to be when Mahitha made her graceful entrance to the ceremony space in a beige, fuchsia, and orange sari (accessorized with a fab golden belt!), with dreamy hair and makeup styling by Flawless Bride. To say that we are obsessing over the details of this ceremony would be an understatement. We simply can’t wait to watch all the live footage lovingly captured by Dyle Films. In the meantime, we’ve created a gallery of snaps by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography for your perusal pleasure!

New Orleans, LA Indian Wedding by Amanda Weir Photography

Morning Maharanis! We’re pumped to share the ultra mod and stylin’ wedding of Mahitha and Pavan today. These two had a jam packed itinerary of fun-filled events, beginning with their joyous Sangeet at the Audubon Tea Room. Take one look at these photos by Amanda Weir Photography and you can see energy bursting from every snap. What a fun group! We can’t wait to watch all the live action footage captured by Dyle Films. And in our opinion, one of the very best parts of a wedding are all the outfits. We adore watching Maharanis get all dolled up! Mahitha was adorned in multiple dazzling outfits and was sparkled up by the talented artists from Flawless Bride. Mahitha filled us in on the unorthodox way she chose all her lovely looks: “Being in my first year of residency, it was really hard to find time to go to India to go shopping for my wedding clothes. So my parents went to India instead of me. My mom went to numerous stores in Hyderabad, India; however, no-one would let her take pictures. The quality of our Facetime was so awful so in the end I picked my outfits via blurry images of on Facetime and with the help of my mom’s and grandma’s good taste. It worked out really well. I loved all my outfits!” The Storybook Event used their planning mastery and pulled off a series of events fit for a Maharani, while Rao Factor festooned the venues in the ultimate in lux decor. While you wait for our ceremony and reception coverage, you can enjoy all the still images brimming in the full gallery by Amanda Weir Photography.

Sugar Land, Texas Indian Wedding by Bella Lumi

We love a good love tale and when we heard how Vishal proposed to Bina, we were swept away in pure romance. The couple got engaged on a private ranch called Dos Brisas in Brenham, Texas. It started off as a beautiful hayride for the  two that eventually ended at a lake. Vishal got down on one knee and proposed as the couple’s photographer, Brenda,  of Bella Lumi popped out and everything happened like a true southern girl's fairytale. Sigh. The series of events planned by Rathi Menon Events came full circle at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square where Desi Junction was churning out all the latest beats. The bride slipped into a stunning champagne anarkali that was perfect for a night of dancing. Decor One dazzled the venue and kept the theme for an enchanted garden and guests couldn’t stop raving about the decor! We have tucked away the moments of love in our gallery, and believe us, this is one gallery by Bella Lumi you want to be locked in!

Sugar Land, Texas Indian Wedding by Bella Lumi

Bina and Vishal's magical love story has only begun. After being dolled up by J Tailor Salon, Bina walked down the aisle at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square to an absolutely breathtaking sight. Decor One flooded the ballroom with a garden affair theme and the results are so dang jaw dropping! Classic with a spin of sophistication was the perfect blend for a one of a kind mandap that you must see! The couple's vision for the wedding ceremony was an enchanted garden feel. Greenery flowed through the room and guests noted that there was a smell of fresh florals and romance floating throughout the hall. The furnishings of the mandap was a whimsical wonder with a back drop that gave off a fairytale environment. Desi Junction lit up the venue in the most romantic haze as guests witnessed the union of this ravishing wedding. Bella Lumi has all the Pinterest worthy pics in our gallery.
