Toronto, ON Indian Wedding by L'Atelier Lumière International Photographie

The morning of Maharani Anchal’s wedding celebration at the Grand Empire Banquet and Convention Centre was one for the books as evident by these lighthearted and loving images captured by L'Atelier Lumière International Photographie. One look at this bride told us all we needed to know - this was one excited and gorgeous Maharani! The morning was complete when Beauty Concept by Shirley Wu and Lesonne Bridals showed up and it was time for the fun to start! Anchal’s vision for the perfect wedding dress came to fruition when she laid her eyes on a stunning golden and red lengha. We can’t decide what we like more, the fully embellished fitted top or motif engulfed skirt with stunning trimming. Both pieces of this attire fit together perfectly. Her hair was swept in an elegant updo, and bold red lips and kajaal rimmed eyes took center stage. A stone studded necklace set a bold and captivating tone to the bride’s overall ensemble that was accompanied by a large maang tikka. The pre-ceremony portraits taken by L'Atelier Lumière International Photographie made our hearts flutter. This is one couple made for each other! We’ll return soon with all the ceremonial action, but, until then you can find all the images in our full gallery.

Harrisonburg, Virginia Indian Wedding by Mirage Photography Studios

We sadly wrap up the very last feature of Shweta and Gaurav with the bride truly saving “the best for last.” The bride slipped into and shimmering and flowing anarkali flew in all the way from India for her last hurrah. The stark blue was a gorgeous contrast with Shweta’s gorgeous henna designed by Bhavna’s Henna & Arts. The theme for the reception was royal peacock. Shades of blues, golds and whites flooded the inside of the ballroom at the On Sunny Slope Farms. Planet DJ Productions churned out all old and classic beats with JMU Bhangra Team on the dance floor with a riveting choreographed dance performance. A peacock themed cake whipped up with perfection by Paris Cake Company was one of the many highlights of the night. The entire bathroom was enriched with a luminous glow orchestrated by Planet DJ Event Lighting. A stellar Indian wedding calls for an equally amazing wedding and design team with Dream Shaadi truly making this bride’s fairy-tale wishes come true. As quoted from the bride: “For all the Brides to be out there my words of wisdom would be is to BREATHE, HAVE FUN AND ENJOY AND LEAVE THE REST TO GOD. It will all fall into place, have faith.” The gallery is full with joy with all the images captured by Mirage Photography Studios.

I am completely in love with all these gorgeous images by Mirage Photography Studios and can’t wait to relive all Maharani Shweta’s moments from her Indian wedding affair at the On Sunny Slope Farms. The morning began with a glam session with Megan Huffman. The bride was festooned with royalty in shades of reds and gold that just light up the screen. Bhavna’s Henna & Arts ensured that intricate mehndi design was on point and took this bride up a Maharani notch. The gorgeous lengha you see was picked out via Facetime while the bride’s parents were in India! Shweta’s dream of being a classical bride was fulfilled the minute she lay her eyes on her wedding lengha from hundreds of miles away. The bride and groom took advantage of the crisp weather with an outdoor Indian wedding complete with a baraat ceremony led by Planet DJ Productions. Yaadein Weddings constructed a red and gold mandap accompanied by a petal scattered aisle way. Seamlessly pulled together was these series of events planned and executed by Dream Shaadi. It was only after four short dates that Maharani Shweta knew that her Gaurav was the one. Even though their relationship was a bit long distance at a time, the love between this lovely couple only bloomed brighter. One of the most memorable moments of wedding planning was selecting all the food and decor for their series of events. And, the bride and groom’s guests couldn’t stop praising the selection of eats! However, when the bride decided to bring on Sumeet Bagai of Dream Shaadi, everything began to fall in place! Shweta’s series of events were flawlessly executed with the expertise of this stellar event design team. The sangeet ceremony took place at the Melrose Caverns which was decorated to match the inside of a genie’s lamp. A plethora of colors sprinkled the venue that was grooving to the eclectic sounds of Planet DJ Productions. Lighting from Planet DJ Event Lighting bathed the room in the luminous glow. The bride donned a pretty in pink anarkali with all the proper good trimming. The artistry of Bhavna’s Henna & Arts completed this bride’s look with stunning henna adorning her arms and legs. In the gallery shot by Mirage Photography Studios, you will find all the lovely images!

Virginia Nepali/Indian Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

Welcome back to the final installment of Arjoo and Sharath’s amazingly gorgeous wedding celebration out of Virginia! We’ve reaching the grand finale reception soiree, and we’re jumping with joy at all the fun-filled shots! The glamorous bride switched sartorial gears into an angelic white gown, and we’re loving this mix of Eastern and Western fashions. Makeup by Ana B sparkled the bride up with glowing skin, glittery lips and of course, a bombshell ‘do! The groom looked dapper in a rock star worthy white tux. Talk about a gorg couple! Platinum Wedding and Decor transformed The Westin Alexandria venue into a violet wonderland, and we are obsessing over the lovely combo of candles, uplighting, and oodles of blooms. Pure romance! To amp up the wedding fun, Live Sound Entertainment brought in some turntables and blasted tunes until the wee hours of the morning! We loved witnessing the jam packed dance floor with elated guests celebrating the duo on their newlywed status. Akbar Sayed Photography captured every delightful shot, and all the images can be found in the complete gallery. Also, make sure to scroll below for all the inside scoop from Arjoo herself!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Sharath and I met in January 2009 while Sharath was in town for President Obama's inauguration. Sharath was staying at my best friend's (Jenny) house (he was friends with her brother) for the inauguration and I came over that day just to hang out at her place.  Prior to me going over, Jenny said to me "Jason's friend Sharath is here, you know what, I bet he is going to like you, you are definitely his type." As soon as I saw him, I instantly liked him and little did I know, he was attracted to me also :). Sharath then walked into the kitchen where Jenny's mom was cooking and he started talking about food and culture. Sharath told Jenny's mom who is also South Indian, "I've always wanted to go to Tibet and see the Himalayas." As soon as I heard him say that, I thought, I should tell him I'm from Nepal!!! So i popped out of the other room and yelled out , "I could be your sherpa." Sharath and I remained friends for the next couple of years as he lived in Atlanta and I liked in Maryland. Sharath came into town for Jason's wedding four years later and after the wedding is when we started chatting more on Facebook and then we decided to start dating. I always admired Sharath as Jenny's and her family has such great things to say about him and so once we started talking more on Facebook and I realized we have similar characteristics, I definitely knew he was the one then :).

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Since we both met at Obama's first inauguration and started dating at his second, Sharath knew proposing in front of the White House would be a great idea! So before Obama left office, Sharath proposed to me the day before my birthday and secretly we were hoping Michelle and Barack were watching!!!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I have always loved weddings and grew up dreaming about my wedding! I planned the wedding in seven months with the help of our wedding planner.  I have been to and been in many weddings that I already knew what I wanted in terms of outfits and vendors. I let Sharath choose the colors and he wanted purple and gold (Kobe fan). I've always wanted to wear a wedding gown as I grew up wearing Nepali clothes since I was younger, so I knew that would be my reception outfit. I wanted my ceremony outfit to be a typical Nepali outfit but made sure to have a life size print out of me wearing a South Indian outfit and Sharath wearing a Nepali outfit, to incorporate both cultures. I only had one make up and hair trial and I decided to book Make up by Ana B right away. Not only was I so happy with my hair and make up looks, they made everyone in our bridal party and our cousins look phenomenal! I believe I was able to have a stress free day because I loved my hair and make up and because everything ran on time :).

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted a blush color for my wedding gown and was so happy with what I found!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think the most enjoyable part was having vendors who understood our vision and made me feel very special during the whole process.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
We had a 375 person wedding, so I was particularly scared it wouldn't be organized however all our guests have said everything was so organized and they loved the overall ambiance of the wedding. They also loved the skit that the bridesmaids, friends and family performed!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
During the ceremony, I loved that Sharath and I were just having fun at the Mandap! Nepali weddings are very long (2-3 hours), so I was nervous it would "drag out", however since we knew our priest and our families were on stage with us, we were able to laugh and smile the whole time. Another special moment was when our bridesmaids, friends and family choreographed a surprise 17 minute dance for us, it blew us away!! It was amazing!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6kh4s5PMX0&t=24s

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
I always wanted a white dance floor and I got the biggest one, which I loved!! It went so well with the decor and the bridesmaids outfits :).

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Make sure you pick vendors who really love their job. I believe our wedding went so well because all the vendors were professional and had so much experience that they could solve their own issues without any of us knowing about it! Also, on the day of, give all your worries and tasks to your wedding planner and vendors. It is so important to just be in the moment and soak in all the love in the room.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My Mehndi artist, Shazia, was so amazingly sweet and patient. She made me feel so calm during the whole mehndi day and did an amazing job with everyones Mehndi!
The Westin were very accommodating to all of our needs, they had a room available for whatever we needed, a whole hair and make up suite for 20 ppl in the morning, an after party room all set up, tea and break rooms throughout the day.

Thank you Arjoo! We'll be back with another incredible wedding feature tomorrow!
