Washington, DC Fusion Indian Wedding by Love Life Images

We return to Priya and Farid’s fusion Indian wedding at the Mayflower Hotel where Farid got to experience the lively Indian culture and all that it entails. The wedding ceremony started off with a bustling baraat led by a regal horse and a dashing Maharaja. The streets in front of the hotel was just swarming with fashion and flair! The groom wore a cream kurta with gray slacks, blending in a bit of fashion flair. The orange and white mandap designed by Bergerons at the Mayflower was most certainly a nod to the times. Draping flowers on each side of the mandap added a festive touch. After the ceremony ended the couple held an intimate photo shoot with Jennifer Domenick of Love Life Images. All the memories have been captured in the gallery! Head on in there to take a sneak peek of the wedding reception!

Washington, DC Fusion Indian Wedding by Love Life Images

Happy Monday Maharanis! As we wind down into the  last few days of the month of love, we wanted to present you with a love story all of us girls yearn for. The boy next door. Priya and Farid were not just neighbors, their families knew each other and who knew that shared holidays and vacations would eventually lead into something much, much more meaningful. It was only natural that over time these two lovebirds would begin planning their big day. The bride and groom wanted to celebrate Priya’s Indian background and had a traditional Indian ceremony at the Mayflower Hotel. For the morning of her wedding event, the bride wore a classic red and white raw silk sari. The bride wore the traditional jewelry pieces you would find on a South Asian bride that included a gold headpiece, matching choker and gold bangles. Priya purchased her bridal fashion from Shehnaai Couture, an Indian studio that specializes in bridal fashion clothing design. Guests were invited to the auspicious event with personalized stationery designed at Dandelion Patch. To take a sneak peek into the event, head into the gallery with all the images captured by Jennifer Domenick of Love Life Images.

Jersey City, NJ, Indian Wedding by Mood Republic Studios

Sadly, I have to wrap up Sumona’s wedding reception and through this love journey shot by Mood Republic Studios, I truly felt as if I was there. As Sumona is an actress, she wanted to incorporate that part of her lifestyle in her last shebang. Senada Ceka’s skills on hair design was on point and Simple Beauty by Preeti was in charge of beautifying the bride even more than she already was. Orange is not a simple color to master, however, this bride’s wedding lengha had our jaws dropping here at Maharani Weddings Headquarters. We absolutely love how the flowing skirt of this designer piece moved effortlessly. The reception was held at the Green Tree Country Club in New Rochelle. The theme of the night would naturally be the Oscars with the guests in their Saturday best. The entrance of the auspicious venue was lined with custom made movie posters designed by Mood Republic Studios. Guests enjoyed a lavish cocktail hour with the seductive jazz band ACUTE INFLECTIONS in a spacious are overlooking the waters. The inside of the ballroom was designed with luxurious fashion in mind by House of Dipali. Each corner of the spacious quarters was dripping with lux. Both DJ USA Events and SM Event Group spearheaded the beats of the night and as you can see, guests were having a ball on the dance floor! Moghul Caterers returned to dish out specialty Indian cuisine satisfying everyone’s palette. The real treat came from 321 Chillz who hand crafted delectable ice cream and frozen cocktails right before guest’s eyes. Electric Karma planned the perfect fusion of events that will forever be remembered. As of now, we have personally curated all the images shot by Mood Republic Studios in our gallery.

Jersey City, NJ, Indian Wedding by Mood Republic Studios

Today’s wedding details starring Sumona Seth is full of so much glam that we had to dedicate at least three different features showcasing this stellar Indian wedding. For her traditional Hindu ceremony, the bride went all out to channel her inner Bengali Queen. Beauty By Tamanna was given up the very important task of dolling the bride and her bridesmaids up. Sumona wore a traditional red and gold sari draped in Bengali fashion complete with over the top jewelry and a stunning headpiece. The sari was especially special to the bride as she had traveled to Kolkata with her mother and wanted to ensure that the material of her dress was bensari in particular. After some charming shots with her bridesmaids captured by Mood Republic Studios it was time to head to Maritime Parc for the big ceremony! The groom came on a ferry to the park and then on a white Stallion from Equishare Baraat Horses to the gate of the venue. The gorgeous bride hid her face behind betel leaves while waiting to meet the groom and opted out of doing a first look which is out of tradition. Sankar Parial conducted the ceremony in the gorgeously decorated venue by House of Dipali and the groom looked absolutely adorable as he stole glances of his lovely wife. After the ceremony commenced, it was time for hungry guests to be treated to fine Indian cuisine from Moghul Caterers. Planning and design was executed flawlessly by Electric Karma. Sumona could not stop raving about Jose Tan with Mood Republic Studios and bringing his vision behind the camera lens. We can’t keep our eyes of this gorgeous bride whose forever tale is memorialized in our gallery. The bride spills her details down below - a must read!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

Oh so many but something that still makes me tear up is looking at Binny at the altar for the first time and both of us started crying. So much happiness and joy surrounded the two of us that we were what they call "bawling" for a quick second. I didn't see him before and do the pictures or the bride and groom reveal. We kept that very traditional and I only saw him after I brought down the paan leaves- Bengali tradition again (think Devdas).

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

I was a trained Indian classical dancer and danced all my life and it was very important that I express my love for Binny through my dancing. I basically turned my wedding into Dance Camp as my bridesmaid called it. Our wedding is to be featured on Smithsonian on a show called Monsoon Weddings, they were ecstatic that I was an actress and dancer and wanted to see a lot of that. That definitely put the pressure on me to make sure I put on a good show as this is going to be on T.V. Our wedding felt like it was on a reality show. We had our own camera and video crew and then there was production crew all over. The guests truly enjoyed it as from time to time they were getting interviewed. They went with us everywhere. Picking out my Mandap at the decorators to our dance rehearsals.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Every Bride should focus on what this marriage signifies to them and at the end of the day they will be united to their soulmate, best friend and confidante. Enjoy every bit because it goes by very fast and when all the chaos is over, you will wish you could go back and do it all over again. At least that's how I felt. Let the little things go because the bigger picture is way more important. Focus on the good energy and always find the silver lining. If you didn't get your favorite dress, or most desired venue, your soon to be spouse with stand next to you anywhere, and think you're the most beautiful woman regardless of anything.

Wedding reception is coming right up. And, with 321 Chillz behind the bar, we already know this is going to be one rocking party! See you right back!

Jersey City, NJ, Indian Wedding by Mood Republic Studios

Today’s wedding feature is one that we cannot wait to share with you. Encompassing elements of Hollywood glam, fashion flair and luxurious venues - you won’t want to miss a single minute of Maharani Sumona’s grand wedding celebration. The big question was popped, champagne was poured and now it was the time to start Operation Bride. Premier event designer Electric Karma was brought on to spearhead the important task of ensuring that the ultimate dream team was formed. And, indeed they prevailed. Sumona’s celebrations kicked off with a haldi ceremony at the Joya Hall. The event was a cornucopia of Indian traditions intermixed with modern day entertainment by Glitz & Glamour Events. As Binny had a Panjabi bringing, the couple also celebrate a Moroccan theme sangeet night at Akbar Restaurant. The night was complete with hookah, colorful lighting and amazing floral and decor by House of Dipali. This celebration rivaled many receptions we have seen here at Maharani Weddings and we were completely blown away by the extensive attention to detail. I am absolutely green with envy with the gorgeous lengha that Sumona wore for her sangeet night. Pops of gold this designer piece truly one of a kind. The bride brought on Doodle Studio after watching their amazing work on YouTube and instantly fell in love with their work. The team flew in all the way from Malaysia to capture Maharani Sumona’s big day and hasn’t looked back since. We have a special surprise and have the video right on our site to enjoy! Click play to capture this wedding in all of its glory! Head into the gallery where you can relive the special day over and over again captured by Mood Republic Studios. P.S. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I met my soulmate at a bar on St. Patrick's day. I was out with my friends and he was out with his cousins and some common friends. My friend introduced us and at the time I was working on a film so she told him I was an actress. He was pretty intrigued by that and he kept on asking me about my "stardom life." I told him it was nothing of that sort and I was a mere struggling actress. However, his questions continued the entire time and I finally managed to blow him off and leave with my friends to another bar. He kept his name in my life by getting my friends to talk about him and a few of them told me he's a great guy and that I should at least go on a date with him. So one day I opened up FB, found his profile and messaged him saying "heard you were looking for me." He quickly responded. On our first date, we both clicked immediately and I knew he was the one for me. He was everything I never imagined in a guy and somehow he was perfect for me! I knew my life would drastically change in a great way and I would live an adventurous life completely out of my comfort little shell. And I was soooo right!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Binny made a short film about our love story using parts of the movie I did. He rented a movie theater in Williamsburg and got our family and friends to come to watch it. After that he proposed in front of that. This was all a surprise for me. It was our 3 year anniversary and Binny is king of surprises so he told me we were going to celebrate the whole weekend and had lots of things lined up for us. He wouldn't tell me what they were. We checked into the Wythe hotel in Williamsburg, where he had the theater rented in the basement. He told me that we were going out and that I had to be ready by a certain time. We had drinks at the rooftop of the hotel and I got ready for the night. We walked out of the hotel and went downstairs where he told me we would watch a movie. On the marquee it read “Tonight’s premiere: Unending Love” We were seated in the back of the theater because we were “late” and all seats were taken. Suddenly the movie started playing and I soon realized something crazy was going to happen. Once the movie ended, he took me to the front and when the lights went on in the theater, I looked around and saw that the audience was everyone I knew. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. BEST DAY!! Links will be sent of the proposal movie he made plus another link of the combined movie and of the night. He had set up hidden cameras to capture it all.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

I did everything together, all at once and in no order. But it all came together in an orderly fashion.

We went from having a wedding to plan in 9 months to planning for one in 5 months. Our brother's both were expecting a baby so we either had to hold off on the wedding or plan is much earlier. I decided to go to India once with my mother and once with his. We did all the shopping for everything from there. We did our fair share of pinterest boards, google search and of course inspiration from all Maharani bride features. However, most of was also from years of planning what my dream wedding would be like. Lastly our wedding planner-Urvashi Mishra. I would tell her my vision and she would know every resource and vendor who could make that vision become reality.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I always knew I wanted a Bengali traditional look for my wedding ceremony. The shade of red was my main concern. There are many shades of red, so choosing one that would suit me was the challenge. I went with my mother to Kolkata- the central hub of all Bengali wedding saris. I bought it from a store that's been around for many many years. They specialize in Indian silk, benarasi in particular. I tried many different shades of red and finally found one that was bright enough yet "sober" as they all called it in the store.

Fine Indian cuisine from Moghul Caterers was dished at an unbelieve wedding celebration and 321 Chillz served up chilled cocktail at the reception. Head on back for details of both events that you won’t want to miss.
