Fusion weddings are some of my favorite weddings because they combine creativity and culture.  The bride and groom put their trademark on their day, and it is always a one of a kind experience.  April Robles, of Robles Video sent me this next wedding, and there are lots of goodies to see.  Grab some hot cocoa and stay awhile…trust me, you will be glad that you did!

From April : On September 26, 2009, Vishal and Jasvinder held their wedding at the beautiful Rancho Sol Del Pacifico Estates in Malibu. The bride began her preparation for the wedding day at the estates, she wore a red and cream lehnga accented with gold embroidery detail. Harvard Photography photographed them around the estates before the ceremony with their family and bridal party. The baratt started at 2:30 pm with Vishal entering on a white horse as Shawn played the dhol. The families greeted each other with a milni ceremony (garland exchange), then proceeded into the ceremony site. Diya Event's did an amazing job with the decor, it all came together perfectly!

More from April : Following the ceremony, the bride redressed in to a traditional Vietnamese dress (she is half Punjabi and half Vietnamese). The cocktail hour was held outside in the courtyard to the entertainment of Lion Dancers and live drums. At 7:00 pm the guest were escorted into the reception area, where Vishal and Jasvinder made a memorable grand entrance, they were one of my most in love couples! The evening was filled with performances, toast, and dancing to the sounds of DJ Sandeep!

They concluded the evening with a traditional Viddai-Doli ceremony outside. The family walked the happy couple out, and gave them well wishes on their new life together!

A big Christmas tree sized thank you to April for sharing this with us!

Since I moved, I have been cleaning and reorganizing my house.  Now more than ever, I strongly feel that the pieces in your home should be used, and not just sit around and collect dust. So, when shopping for wedding party presents, I always think of this, and I try to give useful gifts.

Jeweled bib necklaces are all the rage right now, and I have to say at first glance I was hooked.  These stylish statement pieces are just perfect for your bridesmaid’s gifts, and will look lovely with a sari or a LBD.

All these looks are under a hundred bucks.  Gotta love that!

1. First up is this rhinestone number from Macys.com.  I am particularly drawn to the layers of blue colors.  This would look great as a contrast piece to any sari. And, it is only 32 bucks.

2.  Next we have the most verstaile piece of the bunch from BananaRepublic.com for $79.50 What I love about this piece is that your girlies can wear it to cocktails, formal parties, and even work.

3. I know that some brides think that black is bad luck during weddings, but others seem to strongly disagree.  It is up to your personal choice, but if you give the okay to this Jet Stone necklace for $49 dollars from bebe.com, I know it will become one of your bridesmaid’s favorite pieces.

4. This necklace is a great choice no matter what season your wedding is taking place. This chunky crystal necklace for $60 bucks from Bloomingdales.com will photograph nicely, and will be a fun piece of bling on your big day.

5. Who would have thought that Amazon.com could be so hip and trendy?  Well, it gets even better because this purple sequins necklace from Shop One Twenty will look great with almost any color your bridesmaids are wearing.  And, for only 39 dollars, you might just have to pick one up for yourself too!

6. This one is the pricey-ist of the bunch, but it is also the most ornate.  This stone embellished necklace from BCBG.com for 88 dollars should only be worn with a simple sari. It has enough bang to stand alone.

And, for those of you who are uber crafty, click here to see how you can sew your own bib necklace.  I can’t think of a more personal, perfect wedding gift.

All brides try not to procrastinate, but for some reason, it is always a scramble to choose ceremony music. I get panic-y emails every week with questions asking for ceremony music ideas, so I thought that I would dedicate today's post to your beautiful bridesmaids. Choosing ceremony music can be such a challenge, so I called upon my friend, and Platinum Guide member, Ajay Manaktala from Special Occasions DJ & Lighting, to give us his top song choices for your bridesmaid's entrance.  Here is what Ajay suggests:

1. Dulhe Ka Sehra – Dhadkhan
2. Aaj Mera Jee Kards – Monsoon Wedding
3. Chal Pyar Karegi – Jab Pyar Kisi se hota hai
4. Sona Sona – Major Saab
5. Aaj Mera Yaar Ki Shaadi – Aaj Mera Yaar Ki Shaadi
6. Mehndi Laga Ki Rakhna – Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
7. Tenu Leke – Saalam – E – Ishq

When you listen to these songs on You Tube, just picture your ceremony site, and your besties elegantly walking with matching, flowing saris.  These songs definitely make me a little teary, and don’t forget that if you are using a DJ for your ceremony, they will be able to cut and play exactly the part of the song that you want.

Any of these choices will create a magical mood for your ceremony.  Thank you Ajay for your suggestions!

Color, color, color.  It sets the mood and energy of any party and particularly important when choosing your wedding color palette.  I have been speaking with some of my favorite industry experts, and I am thrilled to share the hottest color palettes for Spring/Summer 2010.

Citrus – Any bride having an outdoor ceremony should consider this dynamic color palette.  It has a casual elegance to itself that is refreshing and appealing.  There are a few different twists you can do with this palette.  You can take the orange up a notch to a mango color, or take the green out to a limey color to give it some pop.

This color called Clementine drew me in because it beautifully translates to bridesmaids saris.  Trust me on this one, it is stunning!

Something blue – For any South Asian bride SET on wearing red during her ceremony, a modern way to update your look is by making turquoise the base color and to your red and white the accent colors. This trendy look, maintains the bride as the center of attention, while still adding some depth and interest to the color choices.

The nice thing about this palette is that by using turquoise table clothes you can use simple flowers, and still make a strong statement.

The blushing bride – If your bridal style is soft and feminine a palette of baby pink, rose, and mauve will make your heart sing.  There is something very classy to this uber-girly palette, that makes it look formal and definitely bridal.

This palette will look divine when done with hydrangeas, roses, and a few crystals for some bling.

It is such a tough choice, but my favorite is the citrus palette.  Which one do you like?

Today we are featuring dreamy, bridal jewelry from SS International that is fit for the  Maharani within each of us. My passion for gems stems from my mom and one of my many Maasis.  Still to this day my elegant mother adorns herself each day, and will not be caught (even at the grocery store) without a matching necklace and earrings.  All wedding ceremonies are deeply rooted in established traditions. And, Indian wedding ceremonies are some of the oldest and most historic. So, my personal recommendation would be to wear a classic style bridal set for your momentous occasion.

If you are lucky enough to get to change your jewelry for your reception, its nice to choose a modern set like one of these.  Later you can change the set around and wear the necklace with your favorite LBD and a pair of studs, or go sans necklace and just wear the earrings.
