One of the hardest tasks for any bride is to make sure that everyone meets everyone else.  As with any part of an Indian wedding production, Indian brides have it a little harder because of the sheer number guests. Our fabulous Platinum Guide member, and planner for this wedding, Amy Patel, of Planning Elegance had a smashing idea that really made Poorva and Rajus guests get to know one another.  The night before the couple took their walk around the fire, they hosted a welcome dinner.  It is a little different than the normal functions, but it brought their friends and family closer together.  The goal of any Indian wedding extravaganza!

From the lovely Amy Patel of Planning Elegance: Poorva and Rajus both lived in other states when planning their wedding, never-the-less the weekly phone meetings and continuous visits with their parents to the venues paid off to make their dream wedding weekend come true.  All the friends and family came from out of town and took over the Irvine Hilton, filling it with music, fun, and partying!  Their Welcome Dinner was a great ice breaker event to bring both sets of families and friends closer together to enjoy the wedding day even more – I recommend a fun event like this to all couples.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is stuffed full of turkey.  I had an especially wonderful looong weekend having the time to focus on being with my family and enjoy some yummy leftovers!

Poorva and Rajus had a laughter filled wedding weekend this past August, and we are lucky enough to have some highlights to share with all of you. This wedding’s style is crisp and clean, and filled with ideas that aren’t overly fussy or complicated. And, the one thing about this wedding that steals my heart away, are the traditional bridal details.  Take a look at the heirloom sari and jewelry that Poorva wore for her Hindu ceremony.  I just heart them.

Tomorrow is turkey day, and I am really looking forward to it.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it is all about family and food.  Kinda like an Indian wedding, right?

I received these stunning bridal lenghas from Seasons and I can’t decide what is prettier – the lenghas or the model.  Take a look:

The model is Miss Mumbai Roshan Khambatta, and it is no surprise that she is a stunner.  She is the daughter of the late Persis Khambatta who was Miss Bombay, Miss Universe, AND a movie star.  These gorgeous looks would be great for an engagement party or your many dinner parties as the new Mrs.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone, we will see you on Monday!  So, I leave you with this final question : who do you think is prettier, Roshan Khambatta or Aishwarya Rai?

We are back with the dreamy wedding of Vibha and Sorab. Décor budgets have gone through the roof these days.  I was reading an India times article where weddings are now using themes like the sun, moon, and stars.  It’s festive, but a little impractical.  The struggle for South Asian brides is the sheer size of the reception rooms they need to accommodate their guest count.  A great way to add décor elements to your reception room, without breaking the bank is through lighting.  Lighting creates mood and atmosphere for pennies of what it would cost to achieve the same look through flowers.  Something that this wedding did SO well.

A bit more from the duo at Pink Rock Events : My favorite part of this wedding was the location. It’s an old 1940's hotel! It isn’t functioning as a hotel any longer, so we had to bring in everything. Plates, napkins, chairs, spoons.  Everything. It was worth it though because the hotel has really old Hollywood feel. With beautiful ceilings, old gorgeous light fixtures, and romantic staircase it was a hit.

The décor pieces for the reception were  manzinta trees with red roses.  The wedding ceremony had a dome shaped mandap with hanging kalira as the back drop. It was just gorgeous.

I heart Vibha's wedding day attire. Traditional for the ceremony, and then modern for the reception.

When I received today’s wedding submission from Bleu Cotton Photography in my inbox I was ecstatic.  I knew it would be a hit with our readers, and I was just tickled when I found out one of our Platinum Guide members had a hand in making the day flawless. Pinaki (the Pink) and Raakhi (the Rock) of Pink Rock Events, handled the day of coordination for Vibha and Sorab’s wedding, and no big surprise here that the day went off a hitch.  What sets Pink Rock Events apart is that when these ladies do day of coordination, you still get the warm, personal service that they are known for.  It is no surprise that so many of their brides, become their dear friends.

I know, the images are adorable.  My favorite thing about this wedding, hands down, are the bridesmaid’s saris.  They are chic twist on traditional, and look fashionable and up to date at the same time.  Definitely something I know I would be excited about wearing again.

From Pink Rock Events : The couple did a great job on décor.  They had unique elements that were so fun for the guests.  The best thing that I liked was their ultimate pan station. They have over 20 different types of Paan. It was amazing!
